  1. And I might add that this is all rumors being projected. You know" I'm not sayin' I'm just sayin'".
  2. I have been a big fan of Olin Kreutz for years but it may be time to let him go on his merry way. I have seen too many times in the last few years stupid penalties from a long time veteran player.Did we all forget the dumb personal foul he committed this year when he threw a forearm into the head of an opponent right in front of a ref? This Kreutz can do no wrong love is mind boggling. He is on the decline and hasn't seen the pro bowl in many seasons. I can honestly say I saw 2 Bears centers that were significantly better than Kruetz and that is HOF center Mike Pyle and Jay Higenberg who I think should get HOF consideration down the road. For all those who like Pouncey would you be pissed if the Bears drafted him at 30 and told him he was the starting center? I think Tice could coach him up. Nick Mangold was given the job on draft day and he has done fine. I just think its time for the hard-nosed Hawaiin (Iknow the sarcasm reeks here) to go off into the proverbiale sunset. If Harris can be cut for declining production why not Kreutz?
  3. When Lovie first came here his first choice for DC was Marinelli but he was denied permission to talk with him by Tampa's management.
  4. I might have to dispute your thinking on this one DFG. This year Pisa was off the field on a lot of third downs with DJ Moore taking a Nickel DB role on those downs. So if this trend continues a guy like Hawk on the first two downs is not as bad of an idea as a medically challenged Pisa.
  5. I found him. Jordan White 6-0 208, 94 receptions 10 TDs 1378 yds and14.7 per catch.
  6. DFG are you looking on my cheat sheet? Just kidding of course. I remember you saying you were watching the Combine when I was and we have echoed some of the same comments about the same guys because you are look at these guys as footbal player first and not going gaga over their Combine exploits. Beacuse I get off from work at Noon on Sat. I get to watch a lot of college games and that some times totals 5 games in a week and through my eyes-sight and the analysis on each broadcast I get to learn more about these players. On another note I have a question for you. There is a WR from Western Michigan that wore number 83 who I believe has the last name of White that I like also as a late rounder or UFA. You got any info on this guy? I'm stumped.
  7. Jason very entertaining and I do believe that Mannely has a similar video where he does trick snaps but nothing of this magnitude. Thanks for posting this it was a good laugh after a kind of rough day for me.
  8. Mad L if I remember this correctly Martz was Lovie's original pick to replace Turner at OC but JA was not on board at first. The Bears also tried to get permission to talk to Tom Clements the packers QB coach and Jeremy Bates who is the OC in Seattle. Bates turned the Bears down and they were denied permission to talk to Clements. I also believe Tice after being relieved of his duties in Jax was picked up by the Bears in swift fashion. Am I high and incoherent about this ?
  9. To answer the thread question, I have to say Edmund Gates from Abilene Christian WR who ran one of the fastest times of the WR group at the Combine. I have learned through extensive research for the past few years that some of the smaller faster guys at this event don't translate to the next level. How is Jerome Mathis and Yamon Figures doing in the NFL? Not so good. They both posted blistering times in the 40 at the Combine but have yet to really make an impact besides on special teams. Matis actually made the Pro Bowl as a returner for the Texans in his rookie season but has battled some injury problems also. This kid is considered raw with good hands but is a little lacking in route running (A Martz No-No) and shys away from middle routes.(See DA).
  10. DFG what you just said sound very much like another Maryland alum Darius Heywerd-Bey. Like you said the Bears don't need anymore "Raw" guys than they already have if you consider the growing pains of Johnny Knox, Hester and Bennett. This team needs a solid route running possession-type WR that can get seperation by using his size and technique. Thats why I like the prospect of them going for Greg Little or Randall Cobb who IMO is going to be similar to Greg Jennings.
  11. Mad L I think you might have missed what I said about those guys being 3rd tier(IMO Scrap Heap or Waivers and UDFAs). Coaching these guys up to stay on the roster alone gets them some props but, like I said they are solid role players which means if someone comes along that the team thinks is better these guys will accept a lesser role without incident. If I can remember this right Izzy was signed during the end of Jauron's last season to the practice squad as a project and the following year he was on the field in games with Chico as his DC and Carl Dunbar as his DL coach. If You watched any of the DL workouts at the Combine Dunbar was running the drills this year. He is as respected as Marinelli in some circles but tends to move around from team to team. For him to go from being an undrafted FA from another country to a starter in the NFC Championship Game says development to me. Okay I admit it I have a soft spot for the underdogs.
  12. Just hear me out on this wacky idea. Towards the end of the season Corey Wooten was getting more playing time and so was Melton. When you look at it both made a couple of clutch plays and Wooten's sack of Farve will endear him to me for quite some time but if he makes the strides this offseason that Melton has made we may have the makings of a nice DE rotation. So where does that leave Izzy? Would you be mad if he was shifted back inside again to DT? I wouldn't. Now say this scenario arises in the draft and say the Bears do their usual reach and draft Marvin Austin in the first round, a rotation of Toeina,Melton,Austin and Harrison inside might not be bad. Your DE rotation of Peppers, Izzy,Wooten and sometimes Melton also is intriguing. As I put down my shot glass and grab an unopened 1.75 litre of my favorite beverage, disregard my plea for you to hear me out for a wac-hic-wac-hic-wacky idea.
  13. Mad L you have me bustin' a gut LOL I'll say this Lovie has no clue when it comes to offense and time management on offense, something I consider a big minus. The other problem is that his current OC sucks at the time management issue also. Just think of all the trouble this team had getting plays in and blowing unnecessary time outs. Why does this continue to happen to Martz when he is supposedly a offensive genius? He tries to get to cute at times instead of simplifying things. When Lovie finally got his thumb out his butt and told him to run the ball more, this team played a helluva lot better. As for player development on the defensive side without question he has made some guys blossom. Idonije for one has been here with Lovie from the begininng and from being a practice squad player to a starter says development to me. Lets talk about Tillman for a minute. He is hit or miss in coverage but when it comes to stripping the ball he is one of the best in the NFL and thats on Lovie. Guys like Hillenmeyer and Roach are 2 more examples of guys developed under Smith that had solid roles with this team, the problem is they are not 2nd tier guys they are 3rd tier guys who have developed into solid role players. The Toeinas and Idonijes are nice stories but this team needs the Cutlers,Fortes and Olsens to go to the next level.
  14. About Solder at the Combine if you go to NFL.com and find the OL workouts he was nice in that environment and looked lean and athletic. I can't say what he looked like in pads but in shorts he was a stud.
  15. Guys this is all good stuff and if you really look at the history of the SB winners most of the fiery guys have one win and the stoic guys have multiple wins or losses (Sorry Bud Grant and Dan Reeves fans). Of the fiery guys with multiple wins Lombardi, Parcells and Jimmy Johnson come to mind. Marv Levy is they only fiery guy who reached multiple SBs and got no wins. The stoics include Noll who was a mean SOB according to Terry Bradshaw, Shula, Landry, Walsh, Gibbs, Shanahan and Belechick. Sometimes that steady demeanor does tend to make a team play steady. Lets think about these guys for a minute. Hank Stram, Weeb Eubank, John Madden, Mike Ditka,Bill Cowher,Dick Vermeil, Tom Coughlin, Mike Holmgren and John Gruden. All of these guy did win a SB but in most cases they were all in the year that they won. Stram after getting embarrassed in SB one he went all in in SB 4 and basically was done after that. In most cases it was a combination of aging veterans losing their edge and players basically not being able to take those same ol' motivational tactics the very next year. I have to face the facts ,back when I was going to elementary school(Grammar school way back when) I had a teacher that would whip you with a yard stick(36 inch ruler) if you didn't do your homework and your parents were on board with that and if it happened you wouldn't dare tell them because it may have resulted in more severe punishment. Let a teacher try that now and there is a law suit, a You Tube video and all sorts of exposure to something like that. Its just a totally different society that we live in now and guys who know how to psych players into doing their jobs are going to be more effective than a Mike Singletary whose act got old quick. If we look at the longest tenured coaches right now the stoics have the fiery out numbered. Its kinda like when your dad was being a jerk to you and you would go to your Grandpa for some help. To your dad grandpa was Ditka but to you grandpa is Lovie. Once again thanks everyone for just letting me rant while watching Combine footage because as passionate as you all are I know that sometimes we need to look at the situation for what it really is. Continuos sellouts, High Demand for tickets,Family owned Business and keeping our fan base intrigued(not happy) =Status Quo. Now what was Teddy saying last year?
  16. Mad L not to go against you but I just feel like I've gone from living in the "Sports Projects" to "Sports Middle Class" which means I'm doing better but not great. A lot of us have had to pull for another team come playoff time that when the Bears reach the Championship game we really don't know how to act. I believe that's when the "Chicago Insecurity" creeps in. You know the : " If they don't win... they all should be fired." Aside from Kruetz,Manelly,Urlacher and I think the Maynard the players that you think are winning in-spite of the coach/GM have been acquired by them. So you just don't like these two and thats it. I'm not mad at ya for it. As a matter of fact I'm not mad at anyone on this board that doesn't like these 2 because of their arrogant demeanor when ever they speak at a press conference. They act as though they are talking down to us and the media.
  17. Mad L There is no way that all the owners can afford to allow any games to be cancelled including preseason this year. Some of the small market teams cannot stand tall like the big market teams and that includes the Bears because they are a family owned operation as well as the Steelers and 49ers.
  18. There is only one coach-GM tandem in Bear history that is more successful than Lovie and JA and that is Ditka and Finks. The problem is when Ditka was hired the "Ole Man" stepped in and stepped on Finks toes basically forcing Ditka down Finks' throat since Ditka as a Dallas assistant wrote a letter to Halas campaigning for the HC job. That made their time together only 2 years. The "Ole Man" also stepped on Ditka's toes by hiring the defensive coordinator(Buddy Ryan) before hiring the head coach. Since the man that hired Finks, George "Mugsy" Halas Jr had passed away Jim Finks felt betrayed and left the organization during the 83 season and had a short lived stint with the Cubs as team president during the 84(Yes another historic seaon in my life) season and later joined the Saints and ushered in the Jim Mora Sr. era that started a Saints surge to competiveness. With all this being said this current tandem is probably 2nd when it comes to success in team history, with "The Ole Man" and all his HOF picks through the years and NFL Championships the tops in team history. Ditka and Finks had 1 playoff appearance with Ditka and Vanisi getting credit for the SB appearance.. Finks arrived in 74 hired Jack Pardee and drafted Walter Payton, Dan Hampton, Mike Singletary and Richard Dent all HOFers in his 10 year tenure. Finks resume when you add some of his players in Minnesota is very impressive but since the league has expanded to 32 teams and 16 games the talent pool has been depleted and it is more of a gamble to try and draft players. Looking at the talent in some of the last few drafts not all the 1st rounders have panned out for a lot of teams and if you add up the top 10 busts recently the Bears have only one in recent memory(Benson) under JA. They have generally drafted in the teens under JA and have had 2 top ten picks with one netting Haynes and Grossman and the other being Benson. Since 2 out of 3 guys are still in the NFL right now thats not so bad IMO. With Columbo having a solid career at Dallas and Tommie Harris being cut, I'm thinking that maybe the constant changes in staff may have a lot to do with why this team has not developed players properly. So I ask all true Bear fans who do you think would have done better under the Mc Caskeys than these two guys?
  19. Obviously you haven't been listening to Chicago radio lately because they are beating the Cubs to death in terms of needing to have made improvements, and bashing the new owners for their bottomline obssession, etc.
  20. When Chris Williams was coming out there were red flags about his back medically and he was considered better at OT and specifically at RT. So the medical checked out and so far he hasn't had a big enough body of work at RT to consider if he is a hit or miss there. JA has only drafted 2 OTs in the first round both have had medical issues and 1 has started quite a few games for another team(Columbo-Dallas). So when he has this next chance he better hit or he should be gone because most of us that have followed this team are used to the thought of building on the lines first.
  21. I agree with you two-fold. 1 I believe that DA should have been given more of a chance and feel he along with Des Clark went into a season long offensive doghouse. 2 I also agree that the first 2 picks should be used on both lines 1 each. With that being said if a solid corner(with size since Bowman is in the Defensive doghouse and Graham will never get another shot at corner) is at the 30th pick then take him. Now with me saying that if the 3rd rated CB Colorado's Jimmy Smith is there do it because listening to him talk he will be pissed and will want to prove everyone who passed him wrong. Now if Gabe Carimi is there take him and figure out who is going to move on the line left ,right or to the bench. With Schafer being cut something has got to be added.
  22. Jason good point but some of the guys you have mentioned have been running the same as the DL and LBs at the combine and thats what we don't need. From all indications JA is saying that the skill positions are not as good as the the DL and OL and he rates the LBs even lower. Now that maybe smoke screen because none of us saw the Cutler or Peppers moves coming. So maybe he goes against his norm and picks a WR early but I doubt it.
  23. Yes it does and don't be surprised if Melton gets consideration at a starting spot on the inside.
  24. I saw Harris' name confirmed on NFL Network
  25. You have to figure the players union should have something in place to allow player's to workout and if there is a lockout Martz won't have a say as to what Cutler can do.
