  1. Heath Benedict is still on the board out of Newberry. He is a sleeper also.
  2. I like the thought of Dixon as a rehabbing learning prospect because he was a Heisman candidate before his injury.
  3. It also looks like the Bears are going to try and create more mismatches on offense.Like last season one of their TEs was split out wide quite a few times and then there is where are they going to line Hester up at? I also believe that Forte is going to be on the field on 3rd downs because unlike Benson he actually is familiar with pass protection and can catch the ball when it is thrown to him.
  4. Jordy Nelson is a great pick and his game against Kansas' Taleb is what sold me on him.
  5. This pick looks a little shaky to me. Harrison with character issues sends mixed signals.
  6. You have to also factor in Clark and Olsen who also have size.
  7. Marty Booker and Brandon Llyod are supposed to be are big receivers and Mark Bradley is supposed to be are fast WR with size.If he could stay healthy.
  8. The Bears Seem to be following a true needs check list whether we like the players or not they have drafted need positions so far.
  9. Bradjock size is not Booker's problem and he does own the Bears single season record for receptions. He does lack speed but, there have been many receivers in the NFL who lacked speed but could get open for TD's.When Booker was traded for Oguleye I didn't like it because he was the Bears leading reciver the previous year and I thought he could work well within the WCO that Turner runs because if we go back to when Turner was first here his WR's were Jeff Graham and Curtis Conway with Keith Jennings and Ryan Wetnight at TE.Thre was no real speed burners in that bunch bit they managed to help Erik Kramer to a Bears' passing completions and yardage record. The main person in this organization who covets speed is headcoach Lovie Smith.
  10. Nfo I too am looking forward to the FA period because there have been some interesting names being released in the last couple of days and with LJ Shelton being one of them I like the increase of the talent pool on just the O-line.The thing that JA must take into account is that Parcells will also be a big player in this area and if there is someone he covets he will go after them very aggressively especially if they are big.Parcells tends to go after large O-linemen and D-linemen.
  11. I think Mendenhall has good potential but if you watched the Rose Bowl his main short coming was exposed big time and that is blocking and more telling was his inability to pick up the blitz. The USC LB whose name I can't pin point wearing number 58 went pass Mendenhall on several plays to tackle Juice Williams for sacks. This is one reason why both Grossman and Griese were getting tattoed on the blitz this year because Benson was poor on picking up the blitz. This means that if the Bears drafted any back he would not see the field until they were sure he could pick up the blitz. For an example look how long it took for Garrett Wolfe to get any significant playing time.If benson doesn't get hurt he still would have been relegated to special teams. With that being said if you want to go after a back that is a home run hitter and can carry the load South Florida's Smith is the one that warrants a strong look and he along with Rutgers Rice have entered the draft as Juniors.
  12. I think the question should be Beekman or Garza? We know what Garza can or can't do and it might be wise to see if Beekman and Metcalf are worth roster spots.According to Lovie he likes the backups to learn both positions LG and RG also theres Oakley who should get a look also. I truly would like to see more of St.Clair at the expense of Miller.
  13. Angelo will not trade up to draft a O-linemen and has only drafted one in the firstround throughout his tenure.Add Metcalf and he has only drafted two linemen on the first day period.I would not draft Brennan because of the offense he has played in in college doesn't translate well to a conventional NFL offense.I base my opinion on his predecessor Timmie Chang who had monster numbers also.I think he would have the same trouble once he has to move under center. This is similar to the problems Texas Tech QBs have had coming to the NFL. The Bears need help at safety but must find one that can cover and tackle. The LSU safety fits that mode and follows a mini trend that this school is becoming known for following the Landry brothers. The last 3 games will show us whether we need to draft a RB again because its obvious that Benson cannot be a 25 carry back so the need to have a stud may be important. I would add another back this offseason.
  14. I think this is long overdue. He seems to know this offense as well as the other two guys and like Lovie said he deserves a chance to prove what he can do on the field. He is the only guy on the roster who hasn't had a shot. I want to see him with a chance to cut it loose and not "manage the game".This team has nothing to lose.
  15. The last two years Berrian has been a tremendous factor in this team's passing game and according to some game anaylsts he is the Bears' number one WR.I think he should be resigned and the Bears should pursue someone else to play opposite him via the draft or FA.First and foremost the Bears need to shore up the line on both sides of the ball.
  16. Hello everyone "The Lemonhead" has showed up and since this season is basically a wash I will dive head first into one of my "other passions" the NFL Draft. I'll be looking forward to some interesting discussions about some players that we all think the Bears could use. I've been a member for around 4 1/2 years at BearsTalk I'm 48 years old and currently reside in Villa Park Ill.My earliest memories of Bears football date back to 1966 Gayle Sayers and Dick Butkus' second year in the league. So I've seen a lot of bad football from this team but this year seems to be almost as disappointing as the 86/87 season.
