The problem is that in the last couple of years the Bears have tried to insert 7th rounders into the lineup on the OL Lance Louis and JaMarcus Webb. Going into last seasons TC Louis was at RG and Garza was at LG Williams at LT and Omihell was at RT. Since in the last couple of years we haven't drafted in the first round and looking at the Dan Bazuins and Jarron Gilbert,Jaquin Iglesiases,Darren Wolfes, Mark Bradleys and even Roosevelt Williams'in the 2nd and 3rd rounds I will reserve judgement on this draft until I see the guys during THE REGULAR SEASON because even though we have what I feel are great need picks I still remember the last time we picked a linemen that just about everyone was OK with Mark Colombo and he panned out for someone else after we rehabbed him. Mad L I don't want to crush your good vibes but this is what we have been dealing with recently.

I think the Colts did pretty good with Castanzo, Ijiliana and Nevis as the first 3 picks.

I'm not a d-line expert either but he does seem to have a quick first step which is one of the most important thing at the 3 technique tackle in the Tampa 2. When Harris was going good he was in the backfield on some plays untouched. Watching what Marinelli has done with Toeina and Melton since he has been hear makes me opptomistic about what he may be able to do with a guy who obviously works hard on every down and seems to feel he has a great opportunity ahead of him

There are some guys on this list who can be had on the cheap at CB and BTW I thought Lito Sheppard played with the Eagles.

I can only trust my recent memory of the Bears in the offseason in terms of how aggressive they have been. The last 2 years they have been balls out and I can't see them dialing back now since they came so close this year despite obvious weaknesses.

I think that may have been some wasted research. It doesn't take a PHD to figure a guy who takes a gun to his chest and had willed his brain to be studied was suffering from some brain trama.

I was intrigued by the pick at first because of what I saw him do at the Combine. After hearing his conference call on the team website and finding out how his story unfolded to this point has me on board for this kid and when he said he likes to pattern his game after HOF DT John Randle says it all. See pictures of him in an orange Jersey with #54 doesn't hurt either.

So far you have been the most negative about the few draft picks that the Bears have taken so maybe that is why you are getting negative vibes.

I don't mean to toot my own horn but on a post on Feb 9th I predicted that the Bears would draft Carimi in round ! and I said it would be with the idea of moving him inside and moving Williams back outside where I think he belongs. During the workout season Carimi has done some work inside but at 6-7 315 inside doesn't seem like a good idea. So since I'm 1 for 1 I'll ressurect the rest of my weird mock. 2.Ras- I Dowling CB Virginia 6-2 200 3.Stephen Schilling OG Michigan 6-4 302 4. Greg Little WR North Carolina 6-2 220 5.Greg Romeus DE Pittsburgh 6-5 270 6. John Clay RB Wisconsin 6-1 248 This was done before the Combine and obviously my 4th rounder will be long gone before that round based on what is being said now. The thread was started by Stinger 226 and he also did a mock and he has a very good shot at getting the 2nd rounder right with Aaron Williams the CB from Texas. He had Sherrod at number 1 but he has Austin at RD #3 and Linkerhol in RD 4. If this pans out I'd be happy.

We now have to hope for the character issues to be real and I want to say right now that Fairly was my top player in this draft and if you look at what ha happened, so far it is no rhyme or reason to this draft.
-
Christian Ponder is the Vikings "Franchise QB " thans Rick Spielman.
-
Blaine Gabbert is the guy who dropped farther than he was projected and Aldon Smith threw a curve in the draft. and it seems that Jacksonville is in the mix for him.
-
If Roddy White is lined up opposite him he won't drop as many.
-
Jake Locker to Tennessee? WOW!
-
Cam Newton and Von Miller first 2 picks and this is very interesting.

AZ54 this is where it gets tricky when they use the word de-certify which is very vague and is almost saying that we are not a union but we do have the right to negotiate. I heard an interview with a former player that was a member of the union's executive council that said that the union has been de-certified once before and that they and the league operated with the union in this classification. I'm not sure if this was in the late 80's after the 87 strike or just prior to the last CBA being agreed to.

The buzz from a lot of mocks and from even the Sun -Times mock is that sources seem to believe the Bears are taking Marvin Austin of UNC

I think a wild card on the D-line is Corey Wooten. This should be his coming out year since he should be fully recovered from the knee injury he suffered his senior season in college. If that happens you could have a 3rd down D-line of Peppers, Melton,Idonije and Wooten in obvious passing situations. As for the won and lost record next season I believe the NFC North is going to possibly put 3 teams in the playoffs. Green Bay, Bears and Detroit( If Stafford can stay healthy).

Being realistic it makes more sense for teams to hold on to players that are familiar with their system this year the longer this impasse goes because there will be limited time for teams to teach their schemes to new players so the teams that are retaining most of their rosters in-tack will have a leg up on teams that will be installing new schemes on both sides of the ball.

Some teams are not too keen on LSU DT's and their transition to the NFL. Those of recent drafts like Dorsey have not reached the level of what their draft status suggest. I believe that Nevis may be better than scouts think but the Bears may be apprehensive with going after a DT early unless it is a unusual case with someone falling to them. This could all be moot if the Bears take the Illinois DT Liuget in round one.

Recently the center position has dropped in value in the eyes of teams and unless there is an exceptional talent like Nick Mangold they generally feel they can fill the position with a late rounder or FA. Jay Hilgenberg who I feel was better than Kreutz was an undrafted free agent. Kruetz himself didn't come off the board until the 3rd round. There is talk that the Bears feel that Edwin Williams who played his last year and half at the position in college is Kreutz's eventual replacement.

I agree with Jason and will add that this list makes it clear who we should be considering in our thoughts and lets wait for all this to play out because its obvious that we need to wait for a few days since they have extended the current CBA. Why would you do this if there is no progress. I believe the recent judges decision has sent the owners scurrying back to the bargaining table. I always get POed about millionares arguing over who gets an extra million. When some of us have to decide which bills are going to get paid in a given week.
-
DFG you know I'm on board with you but I think that Kreutz has run his course. I don't want him teaching Tice's technique when I have Tice on hand to teach it. I love both of your prospects that you know don't enter into the conversation until late day 2 or day 3. I have read some online reports that have said that Robert Gallery is done with the Raiders and for those who like to purge other rosters for a fit in this line Gallery allows the Bears to move Williams to his drafted position and have a veteran right next to him.
-
Jason this dinosaur has one but I need help. First let me say that any mock beyond 3 rounds is totally speculation because you can't be sure if there will be compensatory picks which usually begin at the end of round 3. With all that being said I was on gbndraftreport.com and looked under the link projections and thats where I found the Bears in this mock taking 330 pound DT out of Baylor Phil Taylor and Ben Ijiliana OT out of Villanova in round 2. I agree with you that that is a stupid mock because Romeus is recovering from surgery and I actually had him in my mock but it was late in day 3 in the 5th rd because he will need extensive rehab(See Corey Wooten). Gabe Carimi RD 1 Ras I Dowling RD 2 Stepehen Schilling RD 3 Greg Little RD 4 (Pipe Dream) Greg Romeus RD 5 John Clay Rd 7
