  1. Bradjock I really don't listen to the Score too much anymore.I listen to Waddle and Silvy. One is a former Bear and The Afternoon Saloon with Carmen ,Jurko and Harry which also features a former NFL player in John Jurkovic. He is the one who I first heard making those comments and I have good reason to believe that he has solid sources. If you noticed the backlash that came out about the Brad Biggs story from Knox and Drake doesn't squash these rumors about him snoozing in meetings and if you listen closely to what Martz is saying about how"Johnny is still learning". There seems to be more to it than he is willing to let out.I don't understand how your most prolific WR could be demoted unless he is taking things for granted.
  2. When it comes to this thought,I feel like one of those old sitcom or cartoon skits where the angel and devil are on each shoulder and the angel is saying" you have to run the ball in December on the lakefront in Chicago" and the devil is saying "screw that sling that sucker your defense will get it back if you mess up." Watching Marshall Faulk enter the HOF this pass weekend as a RB who became prolific in Martz's system has me intrigued to the point where I wish I could see some footage of how he was used in the run game as opposed to the passing game because Faulk was built more along the lines of Chester Taylor while Forte is a little taller and bigger. I had a chance to watch the Bears 2010 higlights last Sunday after the Final Word on Fox32 and I saw how at times Forte was split out wide and matched up one on one with LBs and safeties.I think the fact that Olsen is no longer here will make Forte much more utilized in the passing game.I have seen predictions of how many catches that Roy Williams will have but if Williams has more than 20 over Forte then I think the Bears may have a long season.Forte should have at least 20 catches on check downs and screens alone.
  3. I too believe that Knox has a lot of room for improvement but what he has that can't be coached is 4.26 speed in the 40 from his Combine numbers and there is no one else on the Bears that runs that fast. I still believe that this is a wake up call.
  4. This story has replaced Forte's story about an extention as the story of camp.
  5. LCB if you can get espn radio on your computer then click on CHGO and then click on the AM 1000 listen live icon.
  6. Wow Travis Cobb and J Marcus Webb are brothers? How did you get that tidbit?
  7. CB I agree that this can only escalate if he doesn't. I got a feeling that DD will be in the principle's office soon. I like testy coaches but he was over the top in his comments when the guy he was talking to didn't write the article he was POed about.
  8. I just heard a real strong interview from Darryl Drake about this whole subject on Waddle and Silvy when he was questioned about the rumblings that Knox may be pushing for a trade. This is a story supposedly started by Brad Biggs and Drake said he spoke with Biggs about it. He then had a real heated exchange with Rick Morrisey that is classic. I personally don't like Morrisey but, Drake basically cussed him out and threatened all the reporters that if he continues to hear fabricated stuff fom them, that they were going to have to deal with him. He really sounded as if he was going to go after Morrissey who told Drake that he"didn't appreciate him pointing in his face" when he insisted on reading Martz's quotes about Knox. I like the coaches being testy.
  9. Pix my comments are based on an accumulative sum of events this year and as you stated in a year where it is actually "old school" and all teams have to get in shape at TC , I feel that it is imperative that we need to have as much practice time as possible. The fact that the team left Soldier Field when it was deemed unplayable and went through a practice back in Bourbonnais tells me they think that reps are very important to them. There are several additions on offense that I want all up to speed on the opening Sunday.
  10. I'm thinking this isn't a reocurring thing and may be a one-time incident and Martz may be zero tolerance with Knox for reasons that may not have been clarified in his measured quote.
  11. Great post and now that I think about it They did have a number of players on IR. I wonder how many were on their home field. BTW Waddle and Silvy are broadcasting live right now at Soldier Field on the turf and Waddle confirms that the field is playable right now.
  12. How did we do with Ron Turner? I'm just wondering who would be the OC that would satisfy your taste?
  13. I've been there and it looks like the lights are permanent. The problem was not with the lights but with the electricity. That is why I mentioned about having a generator or some sort of backup power source. That area gets a lot of storms every Summer and this is not the Bears first year down there.
  14. Kreutz is gone Mad L. The whispers are about this year.
  15. Thanks Pix maybe coming from you everyone will understand that they need to just be a little more civil toward each other since the original topic most of us start out on is the Bears and football
  16. Agreed and thats why I could only do it tongue in cheek. Now the Bears can't convert a Mark Bortz to o-line or a Big Cat Williams for that matter. Trust me I'm just as concerned about the lack of addition in the mix at o-line as the most critical on this board and in the media. All I know is that no matter what I post about it, it is what it is. BTW if Lance Lois is a starter against Atlanta my beverage of choice during the games will be a lot stronger than beer. During TC last year he was never balanced and fell on the ground repeatedly.
  17. You're not negative. You're real! You tell the truth and sometimes some of us can't take it. Myself included. I made a reference to me being told that I was a tad sensitive(by you) and after I thought about it,I felt you were right. You also took me to task for a personal attack from me on a poster. You made me realize again I was wrong and I made a board apology for doing it, so if you think that I am referring to you as being negative in a round-about way, that is not the case. Iam basically talking about a couple of posters who know what I'm talking about that were getting extremely personal with each other a couple of weeks ago. I have seen some snipping from time to time recently but I just feel that with increased activity of the board because there is actual football to talk about,we need to remember that there are rules and a certain code of respect that should be maintained. Again this is not directed to you at all. This is everyone in general.
  18. Here is an interesting tidbit. It seems that the field at Bradley-Bourbonnais HS is field turf. So lets see a HS in the south suburbs has a artificial surface but a multi-million dollar professional team still insists on practicing and playing on grass. Hmmm.
  19. espn.com's Jeff Dickerson is reporting that Sam Hurd hurt his lower leg in the protion of practice at Bradley-Bourbonnais HS. He tried to continue but it was determined that he should call it a day and spent the remander of practice on a cart with his lower leg wrapped in ice. Of course Lovie downplayed the injury, saying "We have a few guys banged up this time of year, but nothing serious".
  20. Free agent WR from TCU Jimmy Young continued the tradition of carrying a veteran's shoulder pads after practice by performing the task for Roy Williams who was rebuffed by Dez Bryant last year when he asked the then Dallas rookie to do the same thing. To Jimmy Young's credit he felt that it was his duty as a sign of respect and tradition. Since I have basically deemed Sazenmacher(sp?) the underdog of TC I have to give Jimmy Young an honarable mention because that kind of attitude is rare in a WR nowadays and is quite refreshing. He is a real long shot to make the roster but here's hoping he can make the practice squad.
  21. Some media pundits have said that the field the packers use is good only if you limit the events on it. Lambeau doesn't host as many events as Soldier Field and basically is used just for packer games. I have no idea how true that is but it may be the real reason why that surface stays in such great condition so late in the season. We also have no idea how it looked after the Bears played up there since the packers spent the post season on the road.
  22. I agree about the logjam at RB and feel that it doesn't make sense to try and divide carries between 3 backs when two of them clearly do the same thing(Forte and Taylor).Barber would be the perfect compliment to both guys styles of running. With Taylor being the veteran you would think they would cut him to give him a chance to catch on with another team.
  23. Most of Chicagoland has suffered this same problem from late Spring and up to this point in Summer. So the power outage doesn't surprise me but the fact that the team didn't insist on Olivet Nazarene having a backup generator for the field lighting has me scratching my head. I'm sure that there are backup systems on campus for other things like the cafeteria etc. and even if the Bears had to foot the bill for it, some plan should have been in place. This organization(using the word loosely) continues to do things as if they are doing them for the first time. Everything from coaching hires to watering the grass all seems to be done as if they are the most difficult tasks in the world.
  24. Let me start off by saying that I have no problem with Knox being demoted in favor of Roy Williams for obvious reasons. They didn't bring Williams here to be a backup. The problem I have is Martz's BS reasoning for doing so.Basically saying that Knox didn't really earn the position in the first place over Bennett and it was handed to him.Really! How has Williams earned a starting position in this short time? I'll tell you sometimes I wish Martz would not talk and just coach. The other thing that has come into question about Knox is his professionalism. Things like his route running and attention to detail are starting to come out. If the recent whispers here in the local media are true, its really hard to pay attention to detail if you are snoozing in meetings. Thats the rumor that has been circulating since his so called demotion from the starting lineup. Hopefully this is a ploy to light a fire under Knox and makes him earn the contract extension the he too covets.
  25. That is refreshing that all this guy wants to do is go yo work do his job and go home. Thats how I feel. When I'm on vacation don't ask me about myjob. When my day is done its over. Now obviously no one is going tto syick a mic in my face and ask why I did my job the way I did today after I've had a tough onebut I can relate to just wnting to do what I do with no fuss.
