Hey board...long time no post...Ive only had time to read. So let me cut to the chase...I recorded a rock version of Bear Down Chicago Bears, and am putting it out there for Bears fan enjoyment...I hope you like/love it and pass it around! My ultimate dream is to have it played at the stadium after a TD, and if I sell a few copies (less than a buck!), maybe the Bears will take notice and play it? Im Jewish so this is a nice bonus for me, on top of the fantastic player were getting. I love that hes looked at the High Holidays for the next 15 years to see if theres ever going to be a conflict... Those things are good to hear; personally, I like the guy despite his demeanor. Someone doesn't have to be a rah rah guy to be a good teammate. I wanted to post something just for context to the JC haters: I just broke a toe in 2 places. It friggin' kills. BUT, when I suck it up, I can walk without a limp, stand on the foot, etc. If I tried to jog, Id be in trouble, but normal activities are easily manageable.

I called this one a couple of months ago. I hear ya, he may not be the same player but could fill a huge hole at guard. Anyone heart how Chris Williams is doing?

I think he'll be released or traded...Cleveland is deep at OL and hes become expendable. Hes slated as a center, but could easily switch to G. Hes been on the DL because of (I think) a staph infection and post infection problems. Id love to get him if hes released or trade a late pick for him. Pretty much, there is no downside and hed be a great addition.

what I see that troubles me, are what appear to be rolling papers in his left hand. Of course, Ive never really seen rolling papers up close (cough cough), but I "heard" they look like that also, no matter how much a player sucks, theres no reason to wish such illl will upon him.

Long time, no post; hows everyone? I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. I posted a while back that if we sign Briggs (when I was theorizing about signing Briggs and trading URL since we could get some decent value), it would be inevitable that Urlacher would be asking for money. People said "what makes you believe he would ask for more monny? No way." This is proving to be a tumultous off season. As much as I know this is a business and everyone wasnt to get paid, everyone seems to be posturing at the same time. I wish it was like NE where people accepted less, in order to be a winner.

It generally has been difficult to track down information, and much of what we’ve obtained has been on “background” (a term that we still don’t fully understand because we aren’t, you know, actual journalists). But we’ve picked up one interesting nugget from multiple sources regarding the changes that would have been made if Briggs had been shipped to the 49ers. Specifically, we’re told that middle linebacker Brian Urlacher had been told that he’d be moving to Briggs’ position of weakside linebacker. The disclosure apparently was made to Urlacher while the trade was still a possibility, before the Bears and the 49ers realized that the failure of Briggs to sign his one-year franchise tender prior to July 15 prevented the 49ers from signing Briggs to a long-term deal. We’ve also heard from multiple sources that the Bears proceeded with tampering charges not because they hoped to scare the Niners away from pursuing Briggs in free agency, but because the Bears believed that, once Briggs learned of the failed trade, his performance decreased dramatically. It’s still unclear how Briggs found out about the failed trade. Some presume that his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told him about it. Others believe that, once coach Lovie Smith told Urlacher that he’d be changing positions, word of the looming transaction inevitably got around the locker room. Though we’ve accepted the fact that it will be impossible to determine the precise evidence that supported a finding of tampering, we’re still troubled by the fact that the Niners apparently got in trouble for attempting to work out a new contract with Rosenhaus in conjunction with a trade that would have sent a first-round pick to the Bears in exchange for Briggs’ services. Surely, the Bears didn’t think that the 49ers would give up a first-round draft pick for the ability to rent Briggs for the balance of the 2007 season, with no guarantee that they’d retain his services for 2008. So even is the Bears didn’t formally grant the Niners permission to talk to Rosenhaus, it was at least implied that an effort would be made to get Briggs’ agreement on a new contract, especially if the trade talks were unfolding not long before the deadline for doing a deal.

I called this happening a while back and its now a reality/possibility. THIS is the type of guy you trade for and who would fit perfect for us. I dont know what it would take to get him, but it definitely would be worth exploring. If we sign somehow find some competent FA O-lineman, Id be fine trading our 1st rd. pick; or next years and.....? ANQUAN BOLTIN'? Now that the Cardinals have locked up receiver Larry Fitzgerald at a more affordable (or, as the case may be, less unaffordable) price over the next four seasons, they might have to deal with another thorny issue at the position. According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, Anquan Boldin could want more money and/or a trade in the wake of Fitzgerald's $10 million-per-year contract. Per Schefter, some in the Cardinals organization actually regard Boldin as the better wideout. But Boldin will make far, far less than Fitzgerald over the next three seasons -- he's due to earn base salaries of $2.5 million, $2.75 million, $3 million. In our view, Fitzgerald and Boldin together is a luxury that the Cardinals don't need, especially with coach Ken Whisenhunt presumably trying to bring a Pittsburgh-style power running vibe to the desert. Assuming that the Cardinals have a plan (which could be a dangerous assumption because we're talking about, you know, the Cardinals), the huge deal given to Fitzgerald should be regarded as evidence that they've opted to keep Fitzgerald over the long haul, and to get what they can for Boldin. Throw in the fact that Boldin is represented by Drew Rosenhaus, and the stage is set for Boldin to start making noise about moving on. Possible destinations are Philly, Dallas, and the Redskins.

hey guys...long time no post. It looks like Shaun Alexander will be released by the Seahawks (Julius Jones and TJ Duckett signed to decent sized contracts), or traded for a low round pick. While Im not a huge fan, I think he has a little left in the tank and even thought hes older, has much more to offer than the backs we have now. Id much rather pick up a FA RB than take one in the draft; we need O lineman bad or nothing else matters and well be in the same position we were last year. RB's tend t be a dime a dozen nowadays and even a decent one will succeed given there are holes to run through (earnest Graham, Willie Parker, Ron Dayne, etc). I like the way Angelo is approaching FA; there are going to be a bunch of good/great veterans released soon, that wont break the bank and will still substantially improve our squad. Im also not a fan of Chad Johnson coming here; hell be a major headache if hes not having the ball thrown to him 15+ times a game. With our passing attack, hes bound to lose it. I love the idea of Fitzgerald being traded for, but wed have to mortgage everything to get him and hes not worth it. What about trading for Anquan Boldin though? With all the money being tied up in Fitz, they may have no other choice than to trade him. Hes the perfect WR for us and Id love to have his physicality at our skill positions.

he was playing better than 1/2 of our line with one arm. He could be had for cheap, is a leader and still effective when healthy. If we have Faneca, I would be comfortable having a depth chart of Brown/Garza/hopefully Beekman/Metcalf

Grossman - re-sign to an incentive laden deal Briggs - gone and we get nothing for him Berrian - really, really depends on the price; personally, Id let him go. As effective as he's been for us, we would be better served to focus on FA lineman as it would make all of our skill guys better Rueben Brown - re-sign Mike Brown - re-sign/keep - hopefully the law of averages will kick in, and he'll be able to stay healthy like Grossman a year ago Moose - really depends on his contract #'s which Im not familiar with. If his salary is fairly small, we keep him until his contract runs out; hes a decent possesion WR, even though his hands have been shaky this year Walker - gone Bradley - keep and hope he develops Archuleta - GONE Miller - GONE Cut Terrence Metcalf if he saves us cap room; he's just as bad as Miller. If we take a big hit, he'll at least be good for depth depth As far as FA's go, IMHO, should go this route: follow the model set by the Cleveland Browns. Eric Steinbach and Joe Thomas completely changed the shape of their offense and has made D Anderson an all-pro. Our QB's, while not lights out, will be serviceable if they arent getting murdered on a regular basis Sign Alan Faneca, PITT guard - a complete stud and better than Steinbach. He'll command major dollars, but would do so much for us (see Steve Hutchinson and Steinbach). WR Bryant Johnson, AZ Cardinals. I think he could fill in nicely as a #2, especially if Berrian goes and Moose goes (or even stays). He wont be super pricey and will be an upgrade for us. We need to re-sign Tommie NOW. His price will skyrocket in if he hits FA and he, not Urlacher, is the key to our D. Pass rush up the middle will help the entire D play better; Hes also solid againsty the run. We could tag him, but d rather have him happy and ready to be the best player in the league at his position Thats all Id do FA wise until cuts are made. There will be some cap casualties from other teams that would be good for us. Im not sure who they are, but a LB, RB and safety will be available. Draft is our key and Id go this route: As "sexy" as a QB sounds sounds, it does nothing for us and is a HUGE risk. I'd only draft a guy with a late round flier and hope that lighting strikes and we find a Brady. If there was a Carson Palmer type talent, I might have been for it, but right now, the top 3 (Woodson, Brohm and Ryan) look lie decent prospects, but not top flite guys. The same goes for Michael Turner. If we had a good line, Id say go for it, but we just suck, are old and may not have anything in the pipeline to develop. Do everything possible to get Jake Long, MICH tackle. Trade our 1, 2, 3, next years 1 or 2 & 3, whatever and get the guy. If it gets too pricey, which it probably will as there are teams in front of us who need tackles (Oakland off the top of my head) get Sam Baker or the kid from Boston College, whose name escapes me. We should do all we can to develop what we have and hope massive injuries dont happen again. Hester could be great if his hands soften up and he gets better at running routes and learning where hes supposed to be. We hopefully will see some progression from Bradley, which would greatly help as well. Hopefully fat ass Cedrib Benson has a chip on his shoulder and comes into camp ready to prove hes not a massive bust. Hpefully the law of averges evens out and our DT position becomes stable. I think we have good/great players there and will be solid if EVERY guy doesnt go down or get banged up. We also desperatly need to have D Maning progress and hope the same for Payne. Either way, we need to find a safety who can cover a WR, not the grass. Unfortunately, out staff has to stay, but boy do I wish Turner could go. Im not too confident on the other guys, but Id give them a pass due to injuries this year. I know there are some other things to do, but my coffee hasnt fully kicked in yet and this is good enough, for now.
