Not that I'm endorsing it but it appears the Seahawks are looking to trade Sherman. Some concerns are he'll be costly ($11 million for the next two years(?)), may require a 1st or 2nd round to consider, last years knee injury and I'm not sure he's what we need in the locker room. I would personally prefer him go play in ATL and join back up with Dan Quinn. Then we could see them put the pouty face on Pete Carroll, especially if they were to meet in the playoffs. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-l...m=.dfb01515527d

Haha!! If I thought you were serious I'd still have to laugh. Obviously there's a lot more career data to draw from Cutler than there are Ossy and Glennon. I'd be curious to see where Cutlers stats measured up at the same time where Glennon is now. (I'm too lazy to do that). But I see NYC did a pretty good job of extrapolating the stats to draw out the comparisons of Glennon and Cutler overall. (Nicely done). From that it looks like Glennon is more the 'game manager' that we need (and had with Orton). And that Glennon is only a bridge QB player for the next Franchise QB; whomever that may be.

Just because I'm curious I did some 'comparative shopping'. First thing I noticed is that overall Sage made the same observations most of us did, especially with regards to the contract. And to think, this guy gets paid to do this. Haha. Next thing I did was a quick look at Glennon, Osweiler and Cutler (because I'm a glutton) stats. Particularly TD%, completion % and TD/INT ratio. Osweiler: 59.9% completion rate of 5,038 career yards with 26 TDs to 22 INTs for a TD% of 3.2 Glennon: 59.4% completion rate of 4,011 career yards with 30 TDs to 15 INTs for a TD% of 3.2 Cutler: 61.9% completion rate of 32,467 career yards with 208 TDs to 146 INTs for TD% of 4.6 Something else that is eerily similar to Glennon and Osweiler besides some of the stats up above are they both 6'7" with some slight weight disparity. Glennon being the bean pole at 227# and Ossy coming in at 240#. Anyhow, after it's all said and done yes the Bears did better contractually. Question now is did they do better in talent evaluation? Ossy: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/O/OsweBr00.htm Glennon: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GlenMi00.htm Cutler: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CutlJa00.htm

Using the 'risk/reward' montra, don't you think our team (let alone Pace) should focus more on players that aren't injured? I mean if last year was any indication, the last thing we need is another 'injured' player on the roster. Understand I'm not completely against the idea of a player like this, just that at this juncture it doesn't seem wise.

Not sure if it has come up but looks as though Patterson signed on with the Raiders for one year $7 million(?) http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/...elle-patterson/

And there's that.

And this.

So you don't think that if they just have the two on the roster compete, and Shaw outperforms Glennon in the camps and pre-season they wouldn't reconsider? What if Glennon gets hurt? What if Glennon turns out to be another Brock Osweiler? You think Dallas intended to draft Prescott and have him start? It was pretty apparent that LA didn't even plan on starting Goff even though he was the #1 overall pick. The point is, you have to deal with the 'knowns' of what is in front of you now. Of the QBs up for the draft, who is capable of starting in the NFL? Of all the NFL teams out there, who needs a QB now? How many of those starting quality QBs will be available in rounds 2 or 3 after other teams pick through them? How many QBs for next year are coming out ready to play? If we stink it up (regardless of our draft this year) where would you want to be to pick that QB next year? What if we play just 'good enough' this year (again regardless of draft this year) and end up at the middle or later picks in the draft? Will we be in a good position then to pick our franchise QB? If I understand right, Glennons contract has an escape clause in it that says the team can jettison him after this season if he sucks without losing too much. Why would they write his contract that way if they didn't think it possible?

When does his jersey go for sale? I'm already ordering it! Get some Coop and welcome to Chitown!!

Agree with most who say we are still in line for a QB at 3. Glennon is not a 'sure thing' despite his contract (and alternatively, maybe because of it). If they draft a QB early they will approach training camp with an open QB competition (have they committed to Glennon as the starter?). Shaw, who is also still on the team, isn't out of the equation will either. He showed a lot of promise during the preseason last year (and was one of the first players to be re-signed). If our drafted QB doesn't work out this year and our team sucks again next offseason, we draft another. If our team does better than expected, then fabulous.

There's been some talk about him maybe having an injury of some sort. Probably why he hasn't been getting any takers(?)
-
Any reason we could use a situational rusher like Demarcus Ware? Probably not ideal considering the youth movement were in but he is a great leader. And would be cool for Floyd to be able to hang and play alongside his idol. EDIT: Just saw that he announced his retirement. Never mind.

Bears have signed CB Marcus Cooper to a three-year contract
Alaskan Grizzly replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
I like it. Seems he found his footing last year in AZ. Pretty certain he's reuniting with Fangio which could also be huge for us. Big physical corner is one of his staples. I noticed they also resigned Banks so they should be near capacity with CB. -
Saw some of these stats too. Cooper may not be bad especially after how well he did last year.. looks like he's been wandering around without a chance to play much. (SF to KC to AZ). Drafted in the 7th by SF in 2013z. Is there a history with he and Fangio? At 6'2" and 192 he's a big body hitter so that fits the Fangio mold.

Yeah Connor and I had seen that article too. This part of intangibles is a very strong trait to have especially at QB. And to think, as Glennon pointed out, he hasn't played for the last 2 1/2 years so there isn't much wear and tear on him. I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised by him when it comes time.

Good point. (See I do pay attention).

Mad to point 2 of your 'open letter'. I was checking out some highlights and recent pressers on Glennon these last few days. Although this is a time where all you have to do is say the right things and you're golden, I get something more from him. He seems to be on point not just verbally but mentally. He looks like a guy determined to give us his best. Will his numbers jump out at us, probably not. But at least not only is he saying the right things right now he's doing the right things. In an article I read about him it was said one of the first things he asked for was an iPad with all the plays on it so he could get to studying. He also asked for all the telephone numbers of all the offensive players so he could start talking to them about the upcoming season. He also wanted pictures of the other players presumably so he'd know who's who when he started hanging out at Halas Hall. In his intro presser today it was obvious he's already started studying the players on the team as he was able to rattle off a few of the key players and their recent accomplishments. To me that says volumes. There may just be something to this guy after all. I'm not as concerned as I was yesterday but I'll still be curious to see how he does as time wears on .

There's still some time especially if you consider post draft moves. That's how we ended up with Sitton last year. All hope is not lost.
-
I'm with you. I'm of the opinion you still draft a QB in the 3rd this year. If for some reason he doesn't work out this year or isn't needed then you draft another next year. The way contracts are currently set up for our QBs (Glennon, Shaw) we can dump either or both next year if needed; or keep them.
-
Just watched some highlight film on this guy and I have to admit, we may have a gem. He actually catches with his hands and runs nice TE routes. Big body that is hard to bring down. Reminds me a little of Marty B, without the attitude.

I think the biceps and maybe perctotal (?) were what kept derailing Peanut toward the end.

I find it interesting that both Meredith and Pryor are having a successful renaissance after both being former college Qbs. Meredith is a lot like Pryor, call him Pryor lite. I take back my earlier comment though that if we managed to get both we could worry less about backup QBs. Still definitely need to do art one.

I like being that he's from Nebraska. I always think of Mike Brown when I hear of Prince. Good solid player from Nebraska BUT gets hurt a lot.

So now Barkley has gone to San Fran...interesting. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2695823...ree-to-contract Whose next, Cutler? What does that say about us in the QB dept? I'm beginning to feel more confident they are lookin at drafting a QB. They only have one QB on the roster from last year and he didn't play a snap in the regular season.
