  1. I don't want those guys, I want Watson.
  2. Something I saw yesterday on NFL network said there is more 1st round talent than there are actual 1st round picks. I didn't hear if that was position or defense/offense specific; but given how potentially early the Bears will pick in the first two rounds we could certainly end up with quality players in those first two rounds.
  3. I keep hearing that 'next years' QB class is supposed to be better. I have to ask, who are these prospects and what have they done to make them that much better? The guy I like, Watson, played pretty much consistent through the last two years AND did that while playing Alabama in the last two championships. You realize how many of those same Alabama players will probably be picked in the first round? And how many more will be starting in the NFL next year? Who right now, in the college ranks is doing that?
  4. Agreed. And the argument about picking a QB early this year versus next is extremely valid. Why else do you think they set up Glennon's contract with an 'escape clause' like they did? If they decide a QB is worthy of the #3 pick this year then they can get him now and either use him if need or have him ready next year if need. Presumably Glennon will do 'just enough' not to lose; ergo be a game manager where he could theoretically become a backup next year or off the team entirely. If he bombs out and we need a younger QB who has had time in the system, we're already set. I for one don't see the team playing less than .500 because if they do, I don't see John Fox (and quite possibly Pace) returning next year. Of course all that being said you have to look at trends and who has the most influence on the Bears staff. Fox and Fangio are defensive minded guys. Both have led teams (or parts of teams) to Super Bowls. One has been and is an HC. The other has been considered a few times as an HC. His (Fangios) defenses have a history of dominating in the past. The same can't be said about Loggains and his offensive acumen. The 'trend' factor plays in that more and more teams are putting more money on the defense. OLBs and pass rushers are fast becoming the hot commodity (thanks to Von Miller). However I don't think that guarantees we pick an OLB/pass rusher or Dlineman first (already did that last year) but I would be willing to bet that first pick will be a defensive player.
  5. 'I think' someone needs to tell management to have Kevin White switch his number from 13 to something else. Not that I'm superstitious or anything.... Didn't do Johnny Knox much good.
  6. No QB?? And you have two players with questionable health/injury concerns? I like seeing Foster in this group.
  7. First; on Sherman...hell no. Mostly because of his locker room presence. You thought Brandon and Martellus were distractions? Maybe he'll reunite with Quinn down in ATL. Secondly; as Jason eloquently put it, Cooper is starting "period". (I'm still looking for his jersey).
  8. Who? But yes, agree with you. Unless he's more a special teams contributor.
  9. In case anyone's interested; Ego was picked up off waivers by the Packers a few days ago then dropped today after failing a physical. It's pretty apparent the Pack is looking for DT help after also signing former Bear target Jean Francois. I like that the Packers seem to be picking up our scraps. http://www.espn.com/blog/green-bay-packers...failed-physical
  10. As much as I'd like to see Watson on the team for similar reasons B4ever listed about Adams; he's the one exception I'd like at #3. I realize we have a ton of Safeties on the roster already but this guy has a lot of potential. All of which were listed out by 4ever.
  11. So why would we expect them to draft heavy on the D if they've already done that, or at least addressed it in the last two years? Here are the players Pace has brought through the draft or as UDFA's since becoming the Bears GM. Eddie Goldman (DL), Adrian Amos (S), B. Callahan (DB) , Jonathan Anderson (LB), Jacoby Glenn (CB), J. Timu (LB), Harold Jones-Quartey (S), L., Floyd (OLB), J. Bullard (DL), N. Kwitkowski (LB), D. Bush (S), and D. Houston-Carson (S). Of the drafted players Pace picked 2 out of six in 2015 and 7 out of 9 possible picks last year. Of all the above listed players who are still on the team? More importantly, how many of these guys are about to contribute in a big way? Two trains of thought here. One being that perhaps our soon to be 2nd and 3rd year players are going to contribute in a big way OR they're going to draft MORE defensive players that are not ready to contribute for another year or two. Thus begging the question should Pace be trusted to draft players that aren't ready to contribute in years 2 or 3? So we should focus mostly on drafting defensive players this year you say? Since 'we're closer' on that side of the ball you say? If memory serves, didn't Lovie used to get fried on this board for focusing too much on defense and not enough on offense? Personally I like the idea of a dominant defense but not at the expense of totally overlooking the talent available on the offensive side of the ball in the draft.
  12. Plain and simple I think Pace is and has repeated he likes BPA. (Of course he's also said he believes in drafting a QB each year). Anyhow, our draft is till anyone's guess (probably even Pace). Because they could still move from the 3rd position which changes tactics considerably. That said, he'll either go with extreme need or BPA (depending on where our first pick ends up). For me, QB is still a need and could easily be our first pick. And I still believe that ILB (Foster) could be considered too as BPA. In other words, everything is still on the table.
  13. I'll see what I can do. They have a pretty healthy ratio of Bears there already. Was talking to a buddy of mine recently that reminded me of when they hear gunfire on the island most of the Bears think of it as a dinner bell. Absolutely nuts. But, I digress...
  14. But what if they became the 'Alaskan Grizzles'? Wouldn't that be spectacular? I might follow them then.
  15. I really hope you're right. This article definitely paints a poignant 'what-if' scenario. FWIW I'm partial to Mayor Daleys solution back in 2001. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/bears-co...de-bar-in-iowa/
  16. I third it. The little longer I live and more games I watch I get the feeling that the game most of us grew up watching is no longer the same (or maybe it's just me). Aside from a college game of two I would more than likely cease watching altogether. Fans in San Diego, St Louis and Oakland have all had their hearts ripped out in the last year. And with the huge majority of owner support for this last move, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised with this happening. Virginia might be our only saving grace at the moment.
  17. For me it's more about what the player potentially can deliver on and off the field. Players like Luck, P. Manning and Matt Ryan who not only play like 1st round picks but lead their team on the field, in the locker room and in the community. Why I like Watson. He strikes me as that type of player. And from what I've heard, Adams has some of that potential too.
  18. Aside from Kizer I like it ok. Something about ND QBs make me cringe.
  19. According to the article not only was he charged with three misdemeanors and tasered he was hanging out with a guy from the Packers. Excessively poor judgement. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/bears-co...de-bar-in-iowa/
  20. Can't say I'd oppose. Make for an interesting grouping. All positions of need and have experience with one another.
  21. Film review by Tom Thayer. I for one am stoked about Sims' potential. Saw some other highlight films and thought this guy is a good catch. I love how he catches with his hands and he's big and strong (no, I don't have a man crush).
  22. So in other words they could still draft a QB early and cut their losses on Sanchez (or anyone besides Glennon) and not lose much?
  23. Why bother? Cutler had the same experience, both at being in the locker room and throwing INTs. Where has that gotten us? And FWIW, i don't think there is any coincidences to be drawn, positive or negative, with all the QB visits. We all know how semi-secretive Pace has been in the past. All the cards are still in play.
