Which side is closer?
So why would we expect them to draft heavy on the D if they've already done that, or at least addressed it in the last two years? Here are the players Pace has brought through the draft or as UDFA's since becoming the Bears GM. Eddie Goldman (DL), Adrian Amos (S), B. Callahan (DB) , Jonathan Anderson (LB), Jacoby Glenn (CB), J. Timu (LB), Harold Jones-Quartey (S), L., Floyd (OLB), J. Bullard (DL), N. Kwitkowski (LB), D. Bush (S), and D. Houston-Carson (S). Of the drafted players Pace picked 2 out of six in 2015 and 7 out of 9 possible picks last year. Of all the above listed players who are still on the team? More importantly, how many of these guys are about to contribute in a big way? Two trains of thought here. One being that perhaps our soon to be 2nd and 3rd year players are going to contribute in a big way OR they're going to draft MORE defensive players that are not ready to contribute for another year or two. Thus begging the question should Pace be trusted to draft players that aren't ready to contribute in years 2 or 3? So we should focus mostly on drafting defensive players this year you say? Since 'we're closer' on that side of the ball you say? If memory serves, didn't Lovie used to get fried on this board for focusing too much on defense and not enough on offense? Personally I like the idea of a dominant defense but not at the expense of totally overlooking the talent available on the offensive side of the ball in the draft.

Sorting out the top pick with need
Plain and simple I think Pace is and has repeated he likes BPA. (Of course he's also said he believes in drafting a QB each year). Anyhow, our draft is till anyone's guess (probably even Pace). Because they could still move from the 3rd position which changes tactics considerably. That said, he'll either go with extreme need or BPA (depending on where our first pick ends up). For me, QB is still a need and could easily be our first pick. And I still believe that ILB (Foster) could be considered too as BPA. In other words, everything is still on the table.

Bears re-sign Jay Cutler to 2-yr deal
Edit: OH GAWD NO!!!!!

Las Vegas Raiders
I'll see what I can do. They have a pretty healthy ratio of Bears there already. Was talking to a buddy of mine recently that reminded me of when they hear gunfire on the island most of the Bears think of it as a dinner bell. Absolutely nuts. But, I digress...

Las Vegas Raiders
But what if they became the 'Alaskan Grizzles'? Wouldn't that be spectacular? I might follow them then.

I really hope you're right. This article definitely paints a poignant 'what-if' scenario. FWIW I'm partial to Mayor Daleys solution back in 2001. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/bears-co...de-bar-in-iowa/

Las Vegas Raiders
I third it. The little longer I live and more games I watch I get the feeling that the game most of us grew up watching is no longer the same (or maybe it's just me). Aside from a college game of two I would more than likely cease watching altogether. Fans in San Diego, St Louis and Oakland have all had their hearts ripped out in the last year. And with the huge majority of owner support for this last move, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised with this happening. Virginia might be our only saving grace at the moment.

2017 Everyone Agrees Mock
For me it's more about what the player potentially can deliver on and off the field. Players like Luck, P. Manning and Matt Ryan who not only play like 1st round picks but lead their team on the field, in the locker room and in the community. Why I like Watson. He strikes me as that type of player. And from what I've heard, Adams has some of that potential too.

Aside from Kizer I like it ok. Something about ND QBs make me cringe.

Bears CB Deiondre Hall arrested
According to the article not only was he charged with three misdemeanors and tasered he was hanging out with a guy from the Packers. Excessively poor judgement. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/bears-co...de-bar-in-iowa/

Can't say I'd oppose. Make for an interesting grouping. All positions of need and have experience with one another.

Dion Sims
Film review by Tom Thayer. I for one am stoked about Sims' potential. Saw some other highlight films and thought this guy is a good catch. I love how he catches with his hands and he's big and strong (no, I don't have a man crush).

Dirty Sanchez to sign
So in other words they could still draft a QB early and cut their losses on Sanchez (or anyone besides Glennon) and not lose much?
-
Dirty Sanchez to sign
Why bother? Cutler had the same experience, both at being in the locker room and throwing INTs. Where has that gotten us? And FWIW, i don't think there is any coincidences to be drawn, positive or negative, with all the QB visits. We all know how semi-secretive Pace has been in the past. All the cards are still in play.

Dirty Sanchez to sign
The last time he played anywhere near 16 games it was 2012 (played 15) while with the Jets and he threw for 13 TDs and 18 INTs. That rivals Jays #s. Last season he played in all of two games for Dallas (preseason I believe) and threw 0 TDs and 2 INTs. His overall TD to INT rate? 68 to 68. Yeah, as Charlie Sheen would say; "winning". Yeah, "winningest" QB on the roster instills all sorts of confidence in me.

Interesting point you made. I saw a recent YouTube video where Lance Briggs was being interviewed by Rich Eisen. When asked about what he was up to recently; Briggs replied, "staying busy, trying to stay ahead of CTE." Which I don't think he meant that he'd been diagnosed*, just that he knows it's out there. Gotta be disheartening to know that lurks in the shadows. Especially for football players. *Edit: I stand corrected. Apparently he has been diagnosed as having CTE symptoms. http://www.si.com/nfl/2017/03/14/lance-bri...s-chicago-bears

Dirty Sanchez to sign
I'm with him. ^^ There's one other QB I like less than Jay and he's now on the team. Talk about 'subtraction by subtraction'. At least there's a funny or two to go with it: https://mobile.twitter.com/AllbrightNFL/sta...%7Ctwgr%5Etweet Butt fumble

Not too shabby Lemon. Especially like the pairing of Watson and Williams.

I agree with this 'Mongo' and the other one. ? Not sure 'hate' is the word I'd use for the first pick but highly skeptical.

Mark Sanchez to visit
All the more reason they need to draft a QB this year. (Besides I could've swore Pace once said he's of the opinion to draft a QB every year - but can't find it). As I've said before; we know what Sanchez can bring us - noting, we sorta know what Glennon will offer - a little more based on limited information, and we even know less about what Shaw will provide. Going into this season there are too many unknowns to not draft a QB. If one of the aforementioned fails (assuming Sanchez is signed) why wouldn't you want to at least evaluate what is there as a QB in the draft? What if we do just good enough this this season and aren't in a position to draft what the "experts" will deem Franchise QB material next year? Too many 'what ifs' in my book to settle on these three. For what it's worth (nothing) I found this humorous article. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/rosen...322-column.html

Dude, you're on a roll! Years ago I knew a guy who's nickname was "Rusty Sanchez". That was a name cross similar to your Opie Cunningham. Keep up the jokes Connor!!

Benny Cunningham signed
Can't say I ever saw that. Oh man! That is hilarious! Lolololol. "Opie Cunningham the sex machine". That is some funny stuff right there. I'm with you; I'd like both Opie and Raheem on the team together. Help keep the sideline lively. "I'm Gumby damn it!"

Damn, you used my own logic against me. You're absolutely right. Fox has done more with less; Delhomme being a prime example. And I think not all that long ago we had a discussion about how instead of drafting a QB Fox has managed to take other teams' QBs to the Super Bowl. Manning (Indy) and Delhomme (NO) being the respecting cases. Drats. Not only will we probably not draft Watson but now we might have Sanchez on the team... ? Did Fox and Sanchez cross paths in Denver?
