This goes against my thought of drafting skill players in the earlier rounds but I was watching a show yesterday about the top ten undrafted players of all time. On the list; Warren Moon, Kurt Warner and Tony Romo. And today I saw that Jeff Garcia and Dave Krieg were a few others. So it can be done to find a decent one on the scrap heap. Speaking of: funny how both Romo and Cutler have very similar qualities and styles yet one was not drafted and the other was...in the first round. Hmmmm.... ?

It's interesting when you put in Rahim Moore highlights to You Tube. You either see isolated shots of him laying out WRs or the one where he got burned by Baltimore in that playoff game a few years ago. I remember that game well. My sister being a Broncos fan very nearly had a stroke. But all that said, yeah I wouldn't mind seeing him try out. I like hitters in the backfield like when Fencik was there.
-
Meh. With his recent injury history I wouldn't be settled with him, even as a third down back like the article suggests. Think Eddie Royal and then be right about it. Just wouldn't be worth it IMHO. Id much rather see them draft another RB in the first three or four rounds.

What you think I'm gonna say? Good for U of I! I may have to watch college football other than Nebraska from now on. Now you think we can make a deal with them for Cutler? ?
-
Don't know about you but Deonte Thompson wasn't looking all that bad on KR. And he was playing a few snaps here and there and catching a few passes...didn't look all that un-promising. And personally I'm still of the opinion that Royal isn't the answer at the Z. Maybe Mariani? He looked pretty good there last year.

Found a printed version of the article. The fact the author said Forte will be released "...most likely because of Jeremy Langford." tells me this person has never watched the Bears. Let alone he's comparing virtual duplicates; catch out of the backfield and both 29 being most obvious. One big difference; Forte's not an injury risk. http://showtimesports.sportsblog.com/posts...cago-bears.html

Was perusing the early morning rags and saw a small blip about how "Arian Foster to Chicago makes the most sense." When I went to open it was a video article so I didn't get a chance to see who the hell made this prediction. But why on earth would the Bears ever consider this? Granted he was once a good player but in the last few years he's had nothing but health concerns. If we won't keep Forte this makes no sense at all. And as Jason would say this is pure "dumb". Absolutely, undeniably no thank you.

Some discussion i heard recently on NFL Network (can't remember who said it) that the wave of the future on defense are versatile players (players who have experience at other positions) that play LB. They even mentioned Urlacher and his history as a Safety in college as an example. Think they were using Von Miller as an example of how speed kills when used right. Like in the SB when one minute he's crashing down on Cam from the outside then on the next play dropping back on pass coverage. I personally like the idea of multi dimensional players like that. If Jack fits the bill... Sign me up.
-
This agreeing thing is really creepy.... So what about this Myles Jack guy? He seems versatile. Isn't he the one that played some RB too? I see him as this years version of Shaq Lawson (currently of the Panthers) who played; LB, Safety and RB in college. Turns out to a pretty sweet LB for Carolina.

Didn't McCaskey say this was "news to him"? https://mobile.twitter.com/ZachZaidman/stat...src=twsrc%5Etfw

McPhee doesn't do that? Seemed to me when he was on he did pretty well. Got hurt late in the season and lost his edge but he's got a purpose to hurt. I'd agree to your thought as long is wasn't that we were looking in round one or 2 for an OLB (unless you were able to find the next Von Miller... Then maybe). You think Ragland could do OLB?
-
I saw Brads response and had thought about this earlier today. If the team addresses a lot of the 'needs' as you listed them through FA, would you still feel the same way? And when I say through FA I don't mean old guys who are has beens but a player like Trevathan, an Osemele and a Berry? Players who can contribute now and for a few more years? And FWIW I have to somewhat agree with Houston that I don't think OLB is as much a need as some are thinking. I think based on what McPhee has shown in potential and what Houston and Young did in the late stretch, I don't think we're nearly as bad off there.
-
Yeah, I'd heard that too. There is that.... Edit: was watching highlight videos on Ragland again and decided if (or maybe Lee) and only if he's not available... Then maybe....just maybe
-
If all these teams are possibly in the "QB market" I have a slightly used model I'd be willing to let them look at in exchange for their 1st round pick. Hell if a deal could be made with Denver for Osweiller, color me sold.

Then call me 'dumb' (I know you will) because this morning when watching NFL HQ on the Network they were reviewing some of the RB's from the draft. And for some reason in the back of my mind, despite the logicalness of needing defensive help, I thought wouldn't it be nice to have someone like Ezekiel or Henry (I'd prefer him personally) to add to what could be one of the best up and coming RB groups? Was it because Fox is known to run with a "stable" RBC type of approach? Or overall it seems in this draft there seems to be a plethora of defensive talent where the offensive side is lacking. I know it goes against conventional wisdom but it made sense when I was rationalizing it early this morning. Of course I hadn't had my quota of coffee yet either...
-
Given the need for defensive players on the Bears and good ones to boot, I could see them legitimately making a go if he's available in the 3rd or maybe even the 2nd. Like our previous conversation about others who have had some pretty dramatic knee injuries and bounce back I could see this maybe work out for him The major issue looming right now it appears is the nerve damage. That could really change everything for this kid.
-
I meant to add, given what appears AJ's need for mentorship and Kevin White's still rookie season looming he (R. White) could be a good presence in the locker room. Think BM without the infighting. If you can get a good 1-2 year deal out of him then maybe? IMHO Royal is not the solution as he couldn't stay on the field all of last year. R. White played hurt, for all intents and purposes, last year. Although not really considered a slot receiver maybe he still has some potential as the Z receiver in different ways?
-
Not much in the way of details but would he be worth a look-see?
-
Are you guys nuts? First we discuss drafting a player (Smith - ND) who may not play this year if ever... Now we discuss bringing a player, with a sordid past mind you, on that can't even contribute until November at the earliest. Hello ... Anyone remember the Ray McDonald fiasco from last season? Something tells me Fangio AND McCaskey are going to be a little gun shy after that. Talented or no, ain't worth it. And still no on Icognito. Team is way to young and vulnerable to have an ass clown like that in the locker room.
-
If he holds to the "market value" (whatever that is) and the Bears end up paying it something tells me we're going to regret it. Not 100% sure he's worthy. Hasn't really done much other than those two years and because of injury or perhaps sulking (last year). I hope he turns into the next Megatron rather than the next David Terrell.
-
I think what drew me towards him is the 'value' title. Admittedly he's not been All-pro his whole career and in fact he seems to have had some injury history that I wasn't previously aware of. After coming from a pretty dominant team at Auburn he was paired with Suh in Detroit for his first four years. His rookie year wasn't all that but he did uptick in his production in years 2&3 with 5 1/2 and 6 sacks each year. Year four he looked good until he messed up his knee. Then last year signed on with StL and with players like Donald and Brockers in the lineup he saw less play. And for some reason I read one source that showed he ended last season on IR but can't figure out why. Anyhow I'm not sure if he'd be a better DE or rotational DT with Goldman but with the info I listed previously I'd have a hard time passing on at least taking a look at mehim. I think AZs idea above is a good one. Maybe bring on he and one other FA from the second tier to try out.
-
It would make sense to consider mostly due to his age (26), former 1st round pick, had the best "...PFF grade among DTs (in 2015) to play 500 snaps or less*...". And our team has enough concerns on defense that using a draft pick at DT after successfully finding Goldman last year may not be as necessary. * http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/26183...ery-team/page/7

So in my daily fact gathering of all that is Bears I found an intriguing story in Bleacher Report. In it they discuss a bargain FA acquisition for each team. For the Bears they chose Nick Fairley (currently of the Rams). Although he hasn't done much lately perhaps in Fangios scheme he'd do better? And why not spell Goldman from time to time? Fairleys probably still capable to do some 0 or 3 tech work right? Here's an article on what he's been doing lately. http://fansided.com/2016/02/25/2016-nfl-fr...s-nick-fairley/

On face value, both Incognito and Slauson are Nebraska products and I thought maybe...just maybe Slauson could be a good influence on him. BUT I'm fairly sure that the 'ship has sailed' for any hope of Incognito being able to act civilized for very long. With all the youngsters on the team I think it would be more detrimental than it's worth. Maybe he and another A listed douchebag, Dominic Raiola (another Nebraskan), can get together and hurl insults at one another.
