Call me superstitious but when I saw that KW couldn't wear his college number '11' (because Bellamy had it) then chose 13 I hoped some sort of Madden like curse wouldn't befall him. The first name that popped in my head when I saw that was Johnny Knox who also had issues wearing that number. Not for nothing but I hope Kevin will choose a new number.

'Yeah but'.... hasn't he been struggling with the RT position? Why would you want to put him in the most important spot on the line if you can't handle one of 'lesser value'? Between he and Mills, neither has impressed so far. I don't really like the idea personally but maybe its time to consider moving Long to one of the Tackle positions(?) Bushrod probably can manage through this year but obviously can't be counted on after that.

Apparently a recently chronic problem and now out of practice. Something to take note of. "Now to you Jason..." http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...-a-back-problem

To me there isn't a lot of substance here. Just Martellus shooting off his mouth, which he's pretty good at doing. We all know that Cutler isn't 'leader material'. And after hearing from a few other players that they 'wanted to punch Cutler' (in response to the Geno Smith incident) you have to think he's not the most popular guy in the locker room. That being said, if somehow...someway he (Cutler) actually plays up to his potential (and the contract he's under) this will all be water under the bridge. Bennett will be a pro-bowler, maybe with Cutler, and bygones will be bygones. If not...Cutler will be gone and they'll have extra money to pay Bennett for his new contract.

Was it the beer or did Cutler look different?

I'll believe it when I see it. Not only after 60 minutes of a "regular " season game against the opponents 1st team defense AND stays the course for at least the majority of the season... Then maybe I'll be a believer. -
Yeah, I've had some dealings with disciplinary processes for people 'protected' by unions and as a rule criminal process usually trumps civil process. And if there was a delay in Ratliffs sentencing (or whatever) it would make sense that the NFL had to wait for their 'sentence'. And with Brady his didn't involve a criminal act, per se, so they are able to carry out the ruling sooner. But it does seem odd without considering that. I'm still of the opinion that I too hope Brady pushes it and insists on actually going to court. He'd run the risk of perjuring himself especially since he's already flat out lied and deceited the public and the process. Either way, I'm ready for the season to move on and this to be over with.

I actually agree with Cracker to an extent. Although I don't celebrate any players injury, even the Packers, I'm glad that they aren't going to be as dangerous as they would have if Nelson was playing. Those of you naysaying would have to admit a little cheer came out when SMC took Rodgers out of the game. I know I cheered when Correy "Purple People Eater" Wooton planted Favre a few years back.

Cutler has been known to do things like you mentioned. If you remember that game against Detroit a few years ago: http://www.simpliesports.com/wp-content/up...oit-268x201.png He's been known to go all out from time to time, this seemed pretty "routine" for him. Maybe that look you saw was your beer goggles playing tricks on you. -
Id also like to add that I think Jenkins could be this years Willie Young. Relative low purchase FA but lots of upside. He and McPhee look real nice together on the left side.

So you're giving credence to Terra's disgust with the pick? ? I still think it's a bit early to think he's a bust, maybe but not certainly. Could be many reasons he's lagging right now that we're not aware of. I'm sure Fangio and Fox are taking copious notes.

Looks like his injury was nothing to worry too much about. Which is good. Looks like we're in the market for a RT or RG if Long moves.

Yeah 'I've got phazer set to record' for tomorrow. I see Acho had another good showing. I like that a lot. He's one I'm starting to really like. And although he only had one catch, Bellamy (my personal pick to be the #2 this year after AJ) had a TD. The only WR to score.

Maybe they could look at using Amos at CB and Fuller at Safety?

What network is this on? I'm assuming local coverage only. - or should I say contiguous U.S. states only?

Heard rumor Jared Allen on IR for tomorrow....

Looks like the guy known as "Great Scott" here was the one with the insider info. Haven't seen him post in awhile. Wonder if we could track him down. -

Gosh I hope not. Saw that he was excused from the last inter-team practice for a 'veteran day off' (never heard of that before) but wonder if there wasn't something else going on? Who was it here on this site that was related to Allen's wife? Maybe he knows something? -
Yeah, I hear ya. I'm also disappointed in not seeing White play this year. And I'm concerned that we won't see another player (or two) hurt before the season starts. But only time will tell on all fronts. I guess the thing that disturbs me about this particular report is that Cutler was playing against another team's defense and did not so good. I can understand that he would do well against his own defense, 1st team or not but when facing off against another 'unknown' he reverts to his old self. And then to see how well Luck played against our 1st team defense makes it that much more disheartening. I'm not losing faith, not just yet. I have too much trust in Fox that he won't put together something respectable no matter how much Cutler (or anyone) screws up. And in regards to SCS's comment, I don't dislike Pace. I still think he's got great energy and seems to have some great football knowledge. It's still way too early to tell if White turns out to be a dud but some of the other draft picks this year are doing ok. Again, time will tell.

You know this is Terra you're talking to and about right???

Saw your story so I quickly started looking for sources on an update and found this: http://wgnradio.com/2015/08/20/leno-sees-t...g-right-tackle/ In it I found that it looks like McPhee's injury isn't as bad as it could be. And Leno is getting 1st team reps at RT and not because Mills is hurt. But..... The rest of the news wasn't so good.... our two minute drills (on both sides) were deemed a "disaster" and apparently all the picks that Jay hasn't been throwing have caught up to him. Sigh....as MadLith would say; "well at least we have 1985"....

Ah there's the stinger of old we've all come to know and love.... ?

What the heck happened to Mundy? He seemed to have a pretty decent year last year now (pfft) nothing. I figured with he and Rolle being reunited he'd be able to continue if not improve what he was doing last year. Alas... So would Amos play the FS position? Given his past as a CB that would make more sense but with his size perhaps SS? Or does it really matter in a 3-4?

This some degree I would agree to this. In order to have someone(s) like that on the team you have to have someone that can manage them. Trestman could not. And not necessarily because of what Marshall was behind the scenes others followed suit. Briggs was another example. I have no doubt that Fox can manage people like that. I have no doubt that Bennett could potentially be an issue but so far he isn't. Something tells me Fox weighed in to some degree on whether Marshall stayed or not. He probably agreed he had to go. He was a distraction. And as others pointed out, if Forte felt it necessary to speak up he was more than just a distraction.
-
Nah. Bottom line the Bears and Marshall are both better off for his leaving. He's already said the Jets will be his last team. Now he'll be able to do his HBO show without worry. He was good but not THAT good.

Hmm.... That's what I get for looking at the ChicagoBears.com for stats. I guess I should've suspected something was wrong when I saw T. Porter had receiving stats. (Speaking of...where was he?). Still a fan of Bellamy. Lots of time left and need to see how these guys mesh with Cutler before its all done.
-
Being a Bellamy fan I feel compelled to disagree. Of the three other WRs you mentioned; Merdtith, Cruz and Lawrence, Lawrence was the only to have any WR stats. Cruz had some for PR be outside of that those three didn't impress THAT much more. I like Bellamy for what I saw him doing last year. Granted it may not translate to this year but as many are saying this is only Preseason game 1. Of all the current WRs on the staff though it's looking like Royal is going to be the workhorse of the group, with both White and AJ having injury issues. And one thing I couldn't help but think when watching the D was how young the team has gotten and fast. By the time the season starts how many Rookies and 2nd year players will be starting? So far it looks like it'll be a large number.
