There is something to be said about a between the tackle runner (like MJD) versus a more overall field runner (Forte). Forte isn't really a North/South style runner but more elusive and edge runner. The fact he catches a lot out of the backfield helps to, not as much impact and continue running style. Most of his tackles are glancing blows or from behind whereas players like MJD were hit from all angles, numerous times. Marshawn Lynch I suspect will hit that wall soon too. Since we're looking at him Mark Ingram is another North/South style runner. Walter Payton managed to go 12 years and still looked strong until his retirement. A lot of that was due to his conditioning and elusiveness. Forte recently added hill running to his regimen which could help prolong his career.

Wow that is shocking. I heard recently that he was actually a personal favorite of Robert Kraft and they would do anything to keep him. I guess it is 'just a business'. No thanks for the Bears. Will cost too much and too old. Suh would be much better option as a player but I still don't even want him.

I'm wondering if that meeting with Hartline went well and they are anticipating moves? I personally don't like the idea of losing BM, but then I'm just a fan watching from afar. My wife will be upset too as his is the only jersey that she owns.

Not knowing his stats I like him simply on the fact that he's a veteran and is familar with what type of D we'll see run. I can if Rodgers is able to perform with less available to him and similar obstacles to overcome. As is Pace familar with Aaron Kromer.

...nor the one that Turner, Martz, Tice, or even McDaniels had. Granted not many, save Daniels, is doing much now but there are those that would say Cutler is a career killer. So perhaps there is truth to that? I'd have to at least think the constant in all that is Cutler. As someone else pointed out, other QB's have managed to do more with less. Aaron Rodgers is a prime example. For awhile there he was getting sacked more often than was Cutler and didn't have the players around him that Cutler did and still managed to put together winning seasons time and again. Hell the defense in some of those years was worse than was in Chicago those same years. Some will offer every excuse in the book to believe he'll succeed but until that's a proven theory, I'll continue to have my doubts.

DUH!!!! (bolded) Who was it that said it was insulting for Brian Billick to compare Cutler to Jeff George? And going into a little more on this article, on the one hand you have folks that anonymously rip Cutler for his performance where you have one, Kromer who did it publicly and all heck broke loose. Either anonymously or publicly this is all consistent with what some of us have been seeing and commenting on. If the public rifts between Martz and Tice were not indicative enough....then not much else will. I'm fairly convinced at this point that there is nearly no way to successfully win with Cutler as QB. But I am a simple observer. If any major developments occur in the QB position for Chicago, we'll soon know what Fox and Pace had planned all along.

In trade from Vikings. Apparently draft picks involved with deal. Interesting moves the Bills are making these last few days. Could their offense suddenly be legit? Hell they didn't look all that bad with Orton running the show. Cassel isn't that much worse. Vikings could be getting really good really fast and stay young in the process. Not sure the RB situation but Bridgewater is the real deal (or so it seems) and now Minnesota has a few more draft picks to beef up their team.

Yeah I'd have to agree to this. I'm not sure if his 'professional' character was molded by that dillhole Schwatrz (Suh was t that bad at Nebraska) but he's definitley got an edge to him that's undesirable. Reminds me of Lyle Alzado or Mark Gastineau. Good players but real dicks. Given all the factors and weighing the needs I'll pass.

"May 10th" is actually a long way away. A lot farther than March 10th. ?har har. Anyhow at first I was a big fan of the idea especially when Willie Young was heard talking about it during the season. The combo of he and Sub could be terrific! But, with the money potentially involved and all the other needs on D would it be worth it. Probably ,... But I'm not sure.

Ironically and according to some of the comments on this article, this 'social experiment' is something that John Harbaugh has been doing with some success in Baltimore. So it would go to reason that Trestman ended up there.

There was a recent article in 'Sports World Report' that quickly mentioned trade possibilities with teams to include Oakland. Tennessee and Houston. The article reminded us that no one on the team has been given any guarantees for the new season, to include Cutler, Marshall and Forte. Could it be possible a multi-team trade might be in the works? Or a package deal with Cutler and BMarsh going to a team like Houston or Tennessee in exchange for draft picks/players? I wouldn't be so dismissive of someone like Johnson. He's managed to be a Pro Bowl player with the likes of Schaub, Fitzpatrick and Case Keenum. Of course so too has Marshall with Cutler, so there is that. I don't personally want for Marshall (or Forte) to go but the way things sound it looks like it is a definite probability. It would be good to have a proven veteran on the offensive roster to help out. He probably would be relegated to #2 with AJ going as the #1 but he'd have to understand going in that would be the deal. More than likely he's going to hear that wherever he goes.

Mock drafts are a crapshoot. Hardly anyone will ever nail it down. Even when the draft is done its a crapshoot because every team that had a first round (sometimes second) HOPE their player is able to produce that year. 100% of the time that doesn't happen. Just to illustrate the disparity. This most recent NFL.com mock (below) has four analysts all picking different from each other. Only one continues to pick Shelton at 7. Two say Beasly. Isn't "Sweet' Willie Young a DE? Or are they thinking he'll be more an OLB? With both he and Houston hurting their knees last year something tells me that one or both may not make the season. Hard to bounce back from knee injuries and Achilles ruptures in their positions. And what about Dave Bass? He seems to still have potential and has played DE. I know that Allen is a DE but they are projecting him as an OLB.

I would lean that way too. I think once FA gets underway and the Bears make some moves we'll have a better idea where they will draft. I still think it would be a waste for Shelton, but that's me.

I'd agree with most of this. I'd like them to get a solid veteran LB to run the defense. Someone like Patrick Willis or the "other" Brandon Marshall. Someone familar with the style of D we're going to see. Don't know that Bostic, Greene, Jones or SMC are ready for that yet. 1st round should be CB or Safety. Unless our Brandon Marshall or Forte go away then look at drafting a starting WR or RB.

Another intriguing situation. Is he a casualty of bringing Peppers over? I know they didn't play the same position but Peppers did flourish in the new scheme. Not that Hawk would too but its still a question to ask... My gut says 'no' but only because he's got GB cooties on him.
