You guys make me feel as though I'm watching an episode of Big Bang Theory... Come on season opener.
-
I recognize this "discussion". You forget, the team did put a premium on OL in the past. They were known as Chris Williams and Gabe Carimi. The difference this time is those were graded at 1st round talent where the 1st round pick this year was not...not totally anyhow. For the sake of argument (I know how you strive for it) this year has yet to be proven. At least you qualified it with a 'maybe'. The offense should improve given the coaching philosophy but if it doesn't, what then? The D is going to need retooling if not next season soon thereafter. Cutlers contract ends this year and Marshall and Forte are passing their prime years. Let's hope at least Long plays up to his potential.

WTF?????? Marshall, Jeffrey and Johnson????
Alaskan Grizzly replied to Wesson44's topic in Bearstalk
43?!?! Hell that ain't old! That's my age! Dang you ol so and so. SCS: I know you are a younger lad and I understand the frustration. There's been times I've been po'ed at just about all the posters on this board. Even Mad. And he's the biggest suck up there is here. The thing of it is that for one this is just a place to discuss our favorite team, whether it be of like or differing opinion. Once it doesnt get 'fun' anymore then it's time to stop and become a Packers fan. But seriously, don't let what some posters say here get too far under your skin. Just refute them with facts and overwhelm them with kindness. Except for Terra Tor... You're wasting your time there. -
Bears Fantasy Football Preview: Quarterback Projections
Alaskan Grizzly replied to Cutsizzle's topic in Bearstalk
Ive always held a reservation that Cutler would hit 5,000 (or close) in a year at some point. Just wasn't sure when that would happen. Maybe, in a nod to Twig, next year(?) -
Bears Fantasy Football Preview: Quarterback Projections
Alaskan Grizzly replied to Cutsizzle's topic in Bearstalk
Apparently not only that but you spiked it too! Ha! I figure with all the options; Marshall, Forte, M. Bennett and Jeffery not even Cutler could screw it up. That and he's in a contract year. He's got to prove himself. -
Bears Fantasy Football Preview: Quarterback Projections
Alaskan Grizzly replied to Cutsizzle's topic in Bearstalk
I'm going out and saying close to 4,000 (3980-3990 range) yds and 30 TDs with about 16 TOs. -
Congrats Hawks!!!

I disagree...just because its the thing to do in this thread. Prove me wrong.

Wasn't Bill Belichick trying to analyze videotape a few years ago?
-
Yep....what he said. The major change at this point is the team went away from a defensive minded coach to one that better understands offense. And Urlacher retired.
-
As much as Belichick is annoying, he knows how to handle the media. If they don't successfully drive him 'mad' then I see "Tebowmania" dying off. If anyone knows how to use Tebow it'll be Belichick. Which could prove dangerous for the rest of the league.

Disagree with the first part, agree with the second. I think if he was trying to "slap Lovie" he'd be retooling the Defense. What he's doing is what he was hired to do, "attempt" to build a respectable offense. I really don't see much in the way of large cajones especially given he's currently got 90 players on the roster? As the old adage suggests: "you throw enough crap at a wall eventually some of it will stick". And what I mean in that is with that many players available to you, you should be able to field a respectable team.

I know it's early and hamstrings aren't always a big deal but... There is some concern with injury bug for AJ, at least for me. If for nothing else to take note of. Maybe even better that Aromashadu is in the team. http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpos...amp;src=desktop

In regards to your point about QB; it is eerily reminiscent to the dicscussions we've had about Tebow. One big difference in Jackson is that not only has he not proven capable to play QB at this level, he is not a player that could play other positions.
-
No on Jackson. Maybe on Leach.
-
A quick highlight film on Aromashadu's play in an OT game against Minnesota. Shows his strength as a slot receiver. And you get to see Hillenmeyer do a 'Peanut punch' for a turnover.
-
I'm good with it. He's actually not a horrible receiver. Did some good when on the team a few years ago. From what I remember Cutler was favorable of him. Reminds me a little of Brandon Lloyd (who I wished the Bears had kept), without the speed. We'll see how he works in the new offense. He's a good clutch receiver, like E. Bennett, but without the injury hx.

Mad, speaking from my 'glass half empty' side it is easy to be ecstatic...for now. As the article pointed out Trestman has yet to win a game in the NFL. And as some of the comments pointed out, Marshall has yet to be displeased with what he sees and gets by way of ball distribution. And the question has to be asked, will Cutler ever achieve that 'elite' status we're waiting to see from him? If not, the year could be even longer. We could continue to wait for the answer.

Something that would be interesting to hear about were his conditions of release for the DUI. In some instances, probably not all, they might say to 'stay away from establishments that serve alcohol' or something along those lines. Regardless, if in fact it was an establishment with alcohol... He made a poor choice. To me this doesn't prove that he was sincere in his "apology" and could care less about whether he got in trouble again. This even after being talked to by the team management after the earlier incident.
-
Agreed (in terms of severity), but nevertheless. In your mind as long as someone isn't "found guilty" they aren't. I know this is a bit of a tangent but this is what is wrong with NFL players, or anyone for that matter, doing something 'petty' (in relation) like this and essentially getting away with it. Where does someone like Rodriguez learn from these constant mistakes he keeps making? When during yet another DUI he 'accidently' runs a red light and kills a family of four? He certainly doesn't learn responsibility by simply getting off because he wasn't "found guilty". Especially when he's committed a crime twice in such a short period of time without feeling any repercussions. Bottom line: he needs to own up to his wrongdoings. And then get the "help" he needs. But not at the expense of being a member of the Bears.

So....what are your thoughts on Tim Tebow?
-
Spoken like a true defense attorney. So since OJ Simpson and Casey Anthony were exonerated they were "innocent" too?
-
I think what Weems is is an insurance policy (see motivation) if Hester is unable to get back to doing what he does best, returning kicks. Weems is a very capable return man (made the Pro Bowl because of it). AND he is a decent WR. Something that most here will swear Hester is not. So in those qualities alone Weems brings more to the team than does Hester. I see him as a poor mans version of Joshua Cribbs.

It's times like this where I miss a player like Clutts.
