I am kinda perplexed by this philosophy that the team doesn't do what it can to "fill it's needs". And in no way shape or form am I endorsing Angelo but perhaps am asking more in the Devil's Advocate tone. What more does the team need to do in order to advance the Offense? Looking over a few of the skill set positions, the Bears actually have done pretty well. QB - check, RB - check and if I'm not mistaken a WR worth his weight to be a #1 just signed on for a four year deal (Bennett). Along the OL, the team did address it in the first round and unfortunatly he got hurt. They brought along a solid multi faceted player in Spencer from Seattle and found a diamond in the rough in Louis. Can they use better and reliable recievers, of course they can. Could they use solid play and higher ranked OLmen...who couldn't? But to suggest the Offense has been COMPLETELY ignored is foolhardy. I am not sure that Martz is the fit the Bears need. Could Tice be the answer? Possibly. I see him being more along the lines of a West Coast, audible allowing type caller. More blue collar than high flying and bling.

Intriguing. Some pretty good points and based on what I saw, I'd have to say Hanie is the root of alot of problems right now. He doesn't really have any excuse, especially given his level of experience. After all he's being paid to be ready for times like this and hasn't been able to produce. Time to try Enderle. Really, how much worse could it be? As far as Mccown, I hear he's having problems picking up the O. As much as I'm not big on the idea Id say swap McCown out for McNabb and let's see what he can do. Maybe water down Martz scheme, like he did for Hanie. It resembled more a West Coast style anyhow. Donovan should be able to pick that up pretty quick. I have to say I like the idea of Kyle coming back next year as a back up. We know he's proven himself. Good vid.

As in a similar post, think Forte should just simmer until the end of the season. If the Bears make the playoffs then maybe (big IF and big MAYBE) he could make an appearance. Just think if both he and Jay were to return... After ample rest, what could be made of the playoffs? Problem being the team has to first make it to the playoffs. For either of these two to start again beforehand would be foolhardy.

Favre = Herpes A virus that won't go away

I have to think that in the best interest of the team and even more so for Forte he should just park it for the rest of the year. If (and the if gets bigger each Sunday) the team makes it in the playoffs then maybe they could reassess his return.

bunch of debbie downers after this game

I'm probably more the optimist than are some here and I am not liking what I am seeing in Hanie. I forgave him for last week thinking it was just a fluke, but after yesterday I was thinking the positives from last years Championship game were the flukes. And like the duck to bullet throw ratio yesterday, the negatives outweighed the positives. I saw one drive that looked promising and Roy Williams screwed that one up. Maybe Martz was onto something when he tried motivating Hanie early on in the season. Maybe his like in Enderle is worth checking out? Or will the team give a call to McNabb? This week will be telling in the team's faith in Hanie. And the only reason the Bears are still in "the hunt" for a playoff spot is because of Atlanta and Detroit losses. Will it be enough? -
I've said it once or twice but Corey Graham needs to be on D full time...somehow.

I'm ready to see some Enderle. And for the record don't think that McNabb would be any better...at any point this season.

Interesting RB situation. Forte has been slowing down as of late, and Barber has been improving. Now Forte is out and Barber is #1....and will probably perform well.

Wow, Lovie's on a roll with challenges!!!
-
I tell ya, the more the season goes on the more parallels I see between this years Bears to last years Packers. Problem being and only real big difference is the Bears need to win.
-
Uh oh...Forte down.
-
Hindsight being 20/20, probably should've given the ball to Marion on the 4th and short.
-
I can already see the changes. Going for more of the "West Coast" quick dumps. Good adjustments on Martz' part. Hopefully Hanie will be able to calm down a bit an get the balls to the receivers.

i believe it was a legitimate question by the media that had to be asked that most everyone knew wouldn't be answered. I think that it was OBVIOUSLY a bad call, because it didn't work out. Had it worked out, then Martz would have been genius. If for only one play. Again, Lovie's point being that. Sometimes the risks don't equal the rewards. And if I'm not mistaken, Cutler pointed out that he thought Martz was testing Hanie to see his limits and will more than likely tweak the offense more to his style. And, all things considered (especially with three INT's) to only lose by 5 is not all that horrible. doesn't lovie even watch what is going on offensively in practice or get a legitimate idea what the freaking game plan is from his offensive coordinator prior to gameday? is it some kind of surprise to him every week what our offense does on the field? Don't know, as I'm not on the sideline or at practice. But I gotta believe some sort of conversation is going on. The team was on a 5 game winning streak and are still "in the hunt". so just what is his job description to you if he needs no knowledge of offense or defense? if he is not responsible for whether the offense or defense works week to week,as far as defense, this IS lovie's show. I agree that Lovie is more inclined to comprehend better the Defense but BECAUSE he is neihter the O or D coordinator, he is not responsible for designing the play, just for the implementing and outcome. And ultimately he takes responsibility for all of it, especially after the game. And if he chooses not to answer the questions from the media, so be it. didn't we see rivera fired because he wanted to expand on other defensive ideas and concepts? Again, don't know. Not sure that is why he was "fired". I do know that Ron Turner was let go for failing at what he was supposed to be doing. Babich was ultimately replaced by Marinelli because he too was ineffective, or at least something wasn't clicking. this idea of lovie being appreciated by the players to me is just not that important to me... So? To me, if I were a player, it would be more important that I got along with my coach rather than despise him. Not sure who your idyllic coach would be but whomever they were I'm sure they would have many flaws that could be brought up. I'm not sure what it is exactly you don't like about Lovie but he is the Head Coach and the team is and has done well under his leadership. Those results are fact.

I knew you'd break eventually. The guy seems to be a class act. Does he frustrate me sometimes? You bet. But I still like what and who he is. As far as JA (no not Jack A**) the other one, I'm right there with you. I would be fine with both he and Martz leaving next year.

I think you're mistaking Lovie being curt with him bailing on the media. What I take it as his him saying "hindsight" is indeed 20/20" and it is easy to critique, or in this case, question a call(s) that didn't work. Conversely, if it does work the coach is called a wizard, a brain, a prodigy, etc. etc. And the media doing so is lazy and repetitive, which I believe is the point Lovie is trying to make. I think it not surprising that many here will recall several weeks ago, after New Orleans(?), that Martz "got it" finally and began to adjust the offense. There were stories that Lovie talked to him behind the scenes (like last year) to get him to adjust. And he did. What would he a complish by admonishing Martz, or any coach for that matter, in public only for the media to feast on? That is not effective leadership or management. That was the point of the article. "2. does it also lead one to believe that lovies knowledge of an offense is practically zero? how can you criticize something you have no clue about?". I believe Lovies title is 'Head Coach'. Not Offensive Coordinator or even Defensive Coordinator. What knowledge, speculatively, does he need? I think until Oakland things were going pretty well for the previous 5 weeks on offense. So Hanie had a rough go at it and somehow Lovie has no knowledge of offense? Hmm. And as far as Lovie being appreciated; it's the players, ownership and a couple fans that like having the team at 7-4.

This... http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...rs-coaches.html ... is why Lovie is appreciated.

HEY,...Lovie won a challenge!!!
-
All is not lost. I think, should Chicago lose, Hanie will have plenty to take away from this game and study for this next week. Gets to go back "home" and face the Orton(?) led Chiefs then Denver and Seattle. I can easily see a three game winning streak before the Christmas day game against Green Bay.

Barber's having a good day. Something tells me the Bears should stick with more "up the middle" plays. Barber is averaging 7.1 yds to Forte's 5.1.

If anyone is a bum...it should be someone on that Referee crew.
