  1. I'm beginning to think that Corey Graham should become a more "regular" player.

  3. Well at least you're consistent with your negativity. Like Hanie we all just need to relax and let the game come to us. One thing I wish they would do is mute Siragusa's mike.
  4. I say yes. I understand that he's really not all that mobile. (but who available right now is?) but he's been playing in the AFC West for the last couple years so.... Seeing how the Bears will be facing that group for the next couple weeks would be good for intel. And heck dont you think he'd like nothing more than to go back to Denver and smirk? He and Jay together?
  5. The more we progress the more I see similarities to last years Packers. Now it's the Bears being but by the injury bug. Hopefully the team will be able to manage the situation similarly to how the Pack did.
  6. First, the idea of NOT considering surgery...just to make the playoffs...is ridiculous. As much as I agree that Cutler would shut up all or most of his detractors if he came back its simply not worth his long term health to risk it. Another thing to consider is what kind of "fracture" is it? Is it the run of the mill clean break or is it more of a hairline or crack? The first variety would require something along the lines of a rod/pin where the latter would be more of just letting it heal. Again, we should wait to hear. With regards to Hanie playing and hope being lost, I don't buy it. So far when he has been pressed into service he has done pretty good. HE may not be as dynamic as Cutler but he is serviceable. I think the only major difference we may notice is how Hanie deals with front line pressure. Something we have been seeing Cutler deal with pretty well lately. A lot of roll outs and I swear I saw what resembled some "zone blocking" a few times yesterday. Anyhow and as before, I'll wait to see how Hanie does next week before I assume the Bears have no chance of making the playoffs.
  7. As is customary, the extreme worst is assumed. Not just in the status of Cutler himself or his ability to play but also that "the season will be lost" if he is unable. A microcosm of that scenario played itself out last year in the NFC Championship game and Hanie played admirably. I side with Connor in why not wait and see what becomes of it? Didn't Cutler still throw pretty well after that INT? And continue the game? The way things are shaping up the Bears are positioning themselves to be where the Packers were last year. And with the next game against them scheduled on Christmas wouldn't it be nice to turn the tables on them for the playoffs?
  8. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...medium=referral Looks like the team will be without Moore this weekend after spraining his ankle in practice. Graham may fill the Nickle role which, IMHO, he did pretty good in last week. Speaking of Moore. Read he was fined for the dust up with Stafford. Hope there is more to come, all things being equal. And looks like OT Jordan Black could be signed next week. Not bad.
  9. Saw this and couldn't help but laugh. Some of the comments are spot on. It would be cool to see some of the other guys wear some orange shoes too. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8242...medium=referral
  10. I think with the Nickel (or Roach) covering underneath the Bears are setting up to make Rodgers do the same and do more "big plays. Instead of the dink and dunk that he's gotten so good with. And with the man to man, Tillman and Jennings are playing some agressive bump coverage forcing the QB to wait that much longer. Think things will look better come Christmas.
  11. Well I do know Brian Billick, during his commentating this weekend, said the Bears don't and haven't played a true Cover Two for awhile now. He said the same thing earlier this year. He said they play a "shell" cover then move out of it just before the hike of the ball. He showed a few replays where there was "single high" coverage with the FS then the SS would rotate down for man/press coverage. I've noticed there has been a lot more Nickel coverage with DJ Moore and even Corey Graham than I've seen previously. So in a nutshell, yeah I think they have gone more to "man-man" than in the past. Probably a lot of the reason why Tillman is having such a great year. Just hope that Jennings can keep up with what he's been doing so far.
  12. I just saw an ad on the replay that might work: iTunes.com/nfl Apparently there are highlights and full games there for each team.
  13. Well, like was said before this was a bad game to really gauge (overall) how effective the O was and in that same breath ..the playcalling. I mean you had two TDs from the D and another from ST so what else needed to be done? The Lions did put together some sustained drives late in the game but by then not a whole lot mattered. That and Stafford still turned the ball over. One of which was an INT in the endzone. As far as Martz goes, he does seem to be adapting still. He's trying. Amazing what a talk from the HC and "getting the message" from the fans and media will do to someone's playcalling. I think what turns Martz off to people is when he is bound and determined to pass, come hell or high water and insist Jay do the 7 step drop. With things like screens, bootlegs/rollouts and more Forte it is clear that Martz is at least trying.
  14. This is troubling. With the recent news of Carimi and his messy knee and thinking Omiyale is the first alternate...uhm. Guess we'll see what transpires. - Edit: Saw the other string on this and see (and forgot) that E. Williams is the first alternate. Still curious to see how it shakes out.
  15. Reminds me of the Pistons / Bulls of old. Pistons couldn't beat MJ and the gang so Lambeer and his thuggish brood struck back like punks.
  16. So I had to ask, what the heck is "Arthroscopic Abridement" knee surgery and what are the effects? Well, I fear 'Bear4ever' may be right. This sounds to a chronic issue with Gabe and the procedure is controversial for many reasons one of which is it is equated to a "placebo". Here's what I found: http://osteoarthritis.about.com/od/osteoar...Debridement.htm
  17. Nice post DTG. I'm a "4th phaser"! Even up here in the confines of the far frozen North. If you listen closely on game day you can hear me howl from thousands of miles away. And if you stand on your front porch and look out you'll see Russia right behind me. Ok maybe that last part was a stretch. Anyhow I think you tagged it right as the "fan" is going to make the difference on this one. To me that is what seemed to rattle the team in Detroit during the last meeting. And that with the poor play of the dearly departed Chris Harris probably didn't help. But a few things have changed since then one of which is the OL has solidified itself and doesn't look the same as it did those few weeks ago. Jay was right and Coach Schwartz has it wrong this time. It DOES make a difference that the game is being played outside in Chicago. Not only do the Lions need to concern themselves with being outside in Chicago but in the Bear den in front of the "4th Phase"!! Go Bears!!!
  18. As I am a big proponent of "paying the man" I understand that he does need to look at the big picture. By going the Franchise Tag route he puts himself in a high risk, low reward position. Because the Tag can be applied at one year intervals for the next two, he could risk becoming injured and dramatically losing value and relevance. (All of which I hope never happens). Now I'm not advocating he 'settle' on something just to get it done but again look at what the Bears offered last Fall and work from there.
  19. Considering your "name" I'll have to assume, like the friend of Mad Lith's, that you probably have some reliable first hand knowledge. My pal who is from that area is out of town so I can't ask him. Anyhow, I'll say my interest has subsided and since the replies here were minimal...I'll assume so has everyone else's. Now this idea of making Meriweather an LB....hmmm This idea I like.
  20. Not enough to pay him what he is getting right now. More intrigued. But given the age of the D it would be nice to add depth. Again, I think the problem with him is the aforementioned price and injury bug. And I agree the other kid has more upside, but he's an LB. (Speaking of young LB's) And for what its worth, I still wish the Bears would have given Taylor Mays a look.
  21. They who recently signed Marcus Harrison...yes THAT Marcus Harrison. The same one that was not only released by Chicago earlier this year but also failed his physical after being picked up by Carolina off of waivers. And I for one one am not convinced that Meriweather was a waste. I still see potential there.
  22. It looks as though reading around on this kid a bit that he is a bargain priced addition to the Line Backing core. A position that most will agree needed some beefing up. And he plays special teams. I look at it as a slight gain with Harris leaving.
  23. http://bostonherald.com/sports/football/pa...&position=2 Partly posted as we are heading into a bye week, seems as though the news is stagnant and curious to see what others think. Could/would he be a worthwhile look? There is the possibility that his injury history and/or price could be a hurdle...but one has to ask.
