  1. I think Pace gets Cudos for last year is because we can look back and feel good about Floyd, Whitehair, Kwiat and Howard. This year has not happened yet, so it is easy to praise or condemn. One year from now, we will see how it looks, and with Tribusky as the main guy, it may be two years.
  2. how many big WRs do you want? we have White, 6'3" 214 and Meredith 6'3" 207 we also have two big body TEs that will be a big part of the passing game Shaneen 6'6 1/2 278 Sims 6'4" 261 We also have Daniel Brown who is a combo WR/TE 6'5" 243. So how many big body WRs do you need? we are loaded with them He slipped in the draft because of his speed 4.59, it happens all the time.
  3. So you didnt like Peanut Tillman when we drafted him because he wasnt from a FBS school? the point is about identifying talent not where they came from.
  4. I was just reading where Skuta can play both ILB and OLB, which could free up one spot for CB or S. ILB= Kwiat-Freeman-Trevathan-Timu-Jones-Anderson OLB= Floyd-Houston-McPhee-Young-Acho So we lose Houston, Acho, Jones,Anderson and just keep Skuta to fill in the 4th spot in both positions. Keep Timu until Trevathan is healthy.
  5. I agree these are boom or bust players, but Shaheen was drafted about his value spot in many different draft sites. We can find one that has him as the 75th rated player or one that shows him as the 45th rated player. The point is, Pace is not the only one that thinks he will be a high end player. Two years we can have this conversation and you can be bragging about being right, or enjoying the success of these high risk players. it simply can not be judged at this time. As a Bears fan, I hope he is spot on with all these risky players. I thought the pick sucked until i investigated it further, now I think he could turn out to be a Jason Witten type. Reliable target and big in the red zone.
  6. I think they may have brought him with the thought of losing Houston. when healthy Houston is a better player, but he gets hurt every year. Skuta has been relatively healthy and had 5 sacks and 3 FFs in 10 games under Fangio. A good depth player, will be cheaper than Houston. Houston supposedly being the starter has only started 10 games in 3 years. I think he will be gone due to reliability more than anything.
  7. It doesnt matter how it looks now, it is about those turning out to be good players. Would you rather have a draft that looks good on paper or actually turns into talented players? Two years we will know that answer, as I said before , I would have did it differently but it aint my job on the line. He will live or die with this draft.
  8. Your right about all of this. I think the Bears have taken so much flack is because no one knew what they were doing and it was such a surprise. All the so called experts were so wrong and it didnt make them look good, so they bad mouth it. They paid less that most situations of moving up that high to get a QB. No one will know for three years if this was a good move. I think with bringing in Glennon he was hedging his choice if he lost out on Tribusky, plus i idea situation would be to let him set for 2 years before letting him take over. I think this was a sound decision and will prove out. I totally was not on board with this in the beginning but have grown more accepting of the whole draft. I think the rest of the draft is a question mark, but I think Pace can judge talent it will prove out in a couple of years. Shaheen turns into a stud TE, good for Tribusky when ready. Jackson should start this year. Cohen should have a exciting role going forward. Morgan will replace Sitton when it starts to slide. When we look back we will laud this draft, just cant do that right now.
  9. If we dont improve to a winning record with the roster we all ready have then what's the point of being in a rebuild. It would mean our roster is still bad and we already need to be stockpiled with potential core players, for this rebuild to be on schedule. Core players Tribusky (?) Howard Long Whitehair Shaheen (?) Merideth White Hicks Goldman Bullard Floyd Kwitkoski Cooper Morgan (?) Cohen(?) Jackson (?) This should be a our core players going forward but we really dont know yet, so that means we need to start winning.
  10. I know that, I am refering to getting a QB he wanted. We would have taken either Thomas or Garrett, if Trubisky went #1. I agree with you that I would have preferred the defensive draft we thought we were getting but I understand that Pace IDed the franchise QB he wanted and understand all the moves following after that. What we dont know is, what they think they have going forward with the FA additions, and players about ready to take a step forward. They must think they have answers in Bullard, D. Hall, Bush, Cooper and Demps. I think all of this would have been perceived differently had we not been ladened with injuries and would have finished close to 8-8, then we would have understood they are farther along, but to much unknown now.
  11. Jenkins is an upgrade over Sutton in the middle. I think they probably just keep Compton as he has played both positions. I think Robenson-Harris is a OLB at this moment in. With the number of RBs,WRs and TEs on the roster, we may not be keeping a FB
  12. I didnt mean what should move up to #1 but Jason was saying we should have not signed Glennon if we wanted Tribusky but I am saying there is the chance he would not have been there.
  13. If Tribusky was his guy and Cleveland decided to take him at #1, what would be your backup plan? It is his way of upgrading the QB position without knowing the future. Ideally you play Glennon two years and he plays well, then its Mitches turn to shine and you trade Glennon. He attacked the QB position with the intent of winning now and getting a future franchise QB. How is that a bad scenario?
  14. Do not be surprised if you see both Howard and Cohen on the field at the same time, maybe split out as the slot WR. There is multiple ways we can use him, he will not be just a change of place guy.
  15. Bullard is still the guy to look at for improvement but now the pressure is off , a solid player. Hicks-Goldman-Howard with Bullard-Jenkins-Unrien-Coward in the wings. McPee-Tevathan-Freeman-Floyd with Kwiat-Young-Houston(surprised he hasnt been released yet) and another name to look at is Roberson-Harris. With all the complaining about our draft, we look better on paper this year.
  16. There is several reports on twitter he signed with us, good deal, not a great player but better than anyone we have there at this moment.
  17. When you use words like ( inexplicable) , to describe something that is impossible to judge for at least two years, I think I am spot on

    WOW

A good point having not addressed the QB position the last two years, he had to identify his guy just go get him.
  19. How do you state this is similar when we just drafted Tribusky and your comment was from a year ago.It is not that you are hurting any feeling it is just your negative attitude is just annoying and its a never ending story for you.
  20. With the UDFAs we signed we actually may have a few that stick. Andy Phillips was a high end K in college and may end up pushing out Barth for a job. Raasch Coward/DL is 6 6 and 310 and has the length and production to at least push for a roster spot at a position we added very little. D. Joseph/OT he was rated by some as a 3rd to 4th round guy and with the need at the position could suprise. Freddie Stephenson/FB If we indeed keep a blocking FB , he could easily pass up our current FB and stick on the roster.
  21. I think with some luck in the injury issues we would have been close to 500 last year. The perception is all based on having 2 bad years in a row. So if we are 500 this year, does that make a good statement that we are a better team? The looks bad but when they start playing things will change. Who expected Atl to be that good last year? I dont remember anybody on their bandwagon. They have been 4-12 6-10 8-8 and then 11-5. They have been rebuilding and have improved every year. The difference between us and them is they had a QB in place already, but I dont remember people putting them in the SB before the season started last year. I think we are closer with talent, that our record indicated last year. You can never predict injuires but I see not way we have the same impact as we did last year. Down to third QB, White got injured. Trevathan, Goldman was out for many games, Ashton never lived up to expectations, Porter was out quite a bit. Floyd didnt play every game. Miller was hurt again for much of the season. Long went down and Sitton missed some games. I think if we had better luck, we could have been 500 last year. This year our QB situation is in much better position to succeed. We now have a legitimate RB we didnt know that the start of the year. When Long gets back, our OL should be a strength not a question mark. Our TE situation should be much better. White is healthy and hopefully stays that way. On offense we will be a power running game with many two TE sets, will lead to more consistency and should have better results in the red zone with more targets. If Goldman stays healthy for the whole year and Bullard shows up our front 7 will be a stength. We have thrown a ton of bodies at the back end of the defense and i think it will perform much better. With all the injuries last year, I still think we had improved to the 15th rated defense which was much better than year before. I think our arrow is pointing up and if Glennon is a good QB, we should finish at least 8-8.

    WOW

I would have liked this better, but we only precise this would have been better. It will be interesting to look back in a couple of years and see how that would turned out, but as you stated, its all about the QB. If top 10 and we win alot of games, this will be the most important draft we had in years.
  23. Good job, I think when he was taking private workouts , he shot up draft boards on potential.Maybe if we lived in Philly we would have heard more negative responses to the acquisition. I think Pace has gotten more heat because of the unexpected trade up, the rest of the draft choices, and its Chicago.
