  1. I don’t know whether I should like it or not. But I loved his quotes on how he coached his coordinators etc. The guy is a flat out great head coach…but he is old so I totally get that. You would want to pair him with an up and coming stud who can learn under Pete and take over ideally (and who wouldn’t jump because he knew he had a job in the waiting).
  2. I would hire Pete before I hired Bill. Pete is the youngest and most energetic 73 year old you will find in the world. He also I think has stayed more modern and can connect with players and build the right culture - I don’t know that Bill Bs style works in this era.
  3. Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!!! Got my little nephew that joined us the day before the Bears started their losing stresk - so he has been there through every loss and figured maybe it was a sign I needed to get him some Bears swag so he fits in with the rest of the family! My daughter got her Caleb jersey
  4. Yep - I don’t know why I get his name mixed up all the time.
  5. Don’t get cute people - none of us know if Foster will be a good head coach, we also don’t know if Vrabel will be great and similarly we don’t know if Kingsbury will have learned his second time through. But what I do know is they have all shown a level of talent that makes them the top 3 candidates for the Bears. So hire from one of this group vs getting cute (unless cute is trading for McVay). I may prefer the offensive lean - but we know I love Vrabel…either way these are the 3 best in cycle as it relates to fits for Bears…so get whichever of them you think is the best.
  6. Sucks - hopefully he heals strong and ends up bouncing back - makes Bears decision to upgrade ot easier though.
  7. And while it isn’t the season we expected - I think he is learning a ton through these experiences and will get at it in the offseason and work with the new staff to never let this sort of year happen again. He has flashed a ton all season - also had some rookie mistakes, but no rookie was asked to do more than Caleb. Now let’s get him a good coach…don’t get cute - two strong candidates in Vrabel or Johnson - grab one of them. I prefer Vrabel but both have earned their shot. Kingsbury would be my 3rd choice - he had done a ton for Daniels.
  8. Caleb played really good today which is all that mattered to me haha.
  9. I have no rational for this - but I see the Bears breaking their losing streak today. 4 TD game for Caleb!
  10. I’d say lacking a strength in oline and more on dline also is a real issue cause that can really help prevent a sack/turnover that makes the difference and inversely the extra pressure or two can be the difference.
  11. I don't think that is true - margins are tight in the NFL. Look at the Chiefs. I think the reality is - well coached and disciplined teams win a majority of those tight games.
  12. Yeah - This is exactly what I mean. McCaskeys don’t go for this - but this is exactly what Bears need from its head coach. The directness of some of those statements but you also know the players will play for him and appreciate that warrior mentality. And I think the city will love him too!
  13. This is why while I don't love him, I'd like to let Warren start with a clean slate - his guy at GM and his coach. I go back to - I want to see the Bears consider candidates who wouldn't past the historical McCaskey/Phillips hiring process cause clearly there was something in the attributes that lead them to hire one sort of coach vs. others. They seem to be wowed by the interview and my guess is thrown off by crassness / overly negative things said about current state. I'm curious whether Warren will go the same way - or will he have a different view where he recognizes at the highest level in this place - while you have to balance the how and what - you also have to appreciate the freshness and honesty that can come with some of that. Its why I'm really curious to see if they go with say a Vrabel cause that would tell me we are at least taking a chance at breaking from our historical mold. Heck - while I didn't actually love putting so much on Brown's plate and moving on from Flus (you just had to though after that loss to Detroit) - again it seems like it was Warren who helped get McCaskey over the line to say, no, forget the narrative we got to do this. I think Poles was there too (in fairness). Now the only thing that would change my narrative on Poles would be if he went to bat to move on from Flus and just lost - but I really don't think Warren would have been the one to go to bat for Flus. And even than - I just think to Poles misses at fixing the oline - this isn't a new issue this year, this goes back to Fields.
  14. Johnson and Saleh is a good pairing in my mind.
  15. Another name is Mike McDaniels of Miami moves on. Brilliant offensive mind - not sure he would jump into an OC job or not.
  16. Saleh would be an excellent DC. I don’t know how much trust Vrabel has but I presume if they can develop a good working relationship that would be awesome. If Bears went Kingsbury or Johnson or some other OC - Saleh would be #1 on my list as a DC. Given Vrabel is a defensive guy he may just have someone he has already worked well with though that he would lean on, but man a staff with Vrabel - Saleh - McDaniels. That is different than any staff Bears have had and with very different personalities than they are used to - far more alpha. Oh and it would be more expensive too - this goes back to, this whole direction would be awesome as it would be so different from what Bears have been doing.
  17. By the way - I don’t know who Vrabel wants - but say what you want about Josh McDaniels, but I would love Vrabel and McDaniels. McDaniels isn’t getting another head coaching gig and is just 48. He looked good with Brady but also with Mac Jones (Jones turned into a pumpkin as soon as McDaniels left) and the same was true with Matt Cassel that year Brady was hurt. Dabol would also be acceptable - and all would be very different personalities than any coach bears have had in 20 plus years.
  18. In past I would say that - now I feel like maybe Warren picks best of both and you can shift the power structure slightly. Not saying it’s perfect but it would be different than what they have done in past and that structure certainly had worked for other orgs.
  19. And the Bengals job - as Bears4ever said - getting to coach Joe is a clear winner.
  20. I’m confused - Patriots just hired their head coach last year. If they wanted Vrabel they could have hired him a year ago and they chose another route - I can’t see them moving on after one year. I think Cowboys would be the competition for Vrabel.
  21. Honestly - I think they are just all emotionally spent and see the writing on the wall. I think effort is there but at this point the coaching staff is so thin on both sides and there is so little you can do to change a whole playbook - combine that with a brutal schedule and just the weight of this loosing streak and you really can’t get to the end of the season fast enough.
  22. I agree - built a better oline, give him improved coaching, plus just an offseason of work to learn and I expect we see major growth. But at this point - I’d rather see them start over - new GM and HC.
  23. He’s not in a good spot and he is partly responsible for that but Poles and this staff is also highly responsible for it.
  24. Absolutely not - they need to fix both lines - but priority 1 has to be the oline.
