I'd be absolutely fine with that.
-
I love the Bears jerseys. Wouldn't want em changed.
-
Or you convince Barber to unretire and you are in business.
-
I agree with you and this rumor was started by this guy that starts a lot of crap rumors. So I wouldn't believe it. That said, I guarantee the Pats make a call, but I'm asking for one of there 1st and a 3rd. Not sure if the Bears end up getting that but the Pats 2nd is a late 2nd rounder. If Forte tells me he really doesn't want to play with the Bears, I figure out if Barber really wants to retire (if he doesn't, he can still play with the Bears as a backup to Bush along with Bell), and I cut a deal hoping to get a 1st and another pick. I'd be willing to settle at a 2nd and a 3rd from a team.

Personally I think Forte is better than Gore.
-
To be frank. Forte has been nothing but a pro in the process and the Bears have now treated him like crap. I realize it is a business and I think Forte probably has gotten a reasonable offer he should have signed but now he is in a terrible spot as a result of not being the bad guy (e.g., not holding out). If I'm a player, I'd be very cognizant of what the Bears are doing and I'd think twice about taking their word at face value. If we trade him, than thats fine.

The Bears spent a lot of money on insurance. Forte is pissed about it too. I think his time with the Bears might be done (depending on whether they can burn bridges). What good does it do the Bears to franchise Forte at this point. We aren't going to give him a big money deal (not when you have already guaranteed 7M to this back). A team isn't going to than guarantee another 15M to Forte. Best case for the Bears is he signs his tender this year and leaves next year (with the Bears agreeing they won't use the franchise on him). Another best case is you deal him for a 2nd rounder (no one would give up a 1st for him and to be honest, given the lack of importance placed on RB's, I don't even know if you get a 2nd for him).

Do the Bears trade Forte?
-
I'd be stunned if they didn't take him.

It would appear that the standing offer from all the teams was pretty much equal. Basically manning wanted X and every team had agreed to such. That is at least what i heard Scheft/Mort reporting. Basically at that point, it was just a matter of Manning picking where he wanted to play.
-
I'm not 100% sure about that. I think Flynn knew the system well and responded to it. He's a solid QB but I don't know if he's a stud. That said, I think the Seahawks needed a QB and were smart to sign him (even if he busts, Carrol has to get in a guy that he thinks can at least be a decent QB and I think Flynn can be that). I think his overall tools limit him from being anything more than that, but I could be wrong. I look at Flynn similar to how I look at Cassel. And I really don't think either will be much more than a Kyle Orton (which isn't a bad thing, just they won't be probowlers).

Per Schefter/Mort. Tebow will be traded (or at least they will try and trade him). No deal signed, just that Manning has directed his agent to work out a deal with Denver. There are reports that he will get 20M per year and will be signing a 5 year deal. Pretty crazy amount of dough for a guy coming off 3 neck surgeries.
-
How could anyone have known that Flynn would do what he did. The guy was a 7th round pick. The Bears invested more in the past couple years than the Packers did (Enderle, Levour or whatever his name is). And than there was Hanie who went undrafted but most people thought would go in the 5th or 6th round. The only difference is the Packers hit on there back-up.

The latest form the Trib about the alleged victim

There are some people reporting that she was hit (or when she claims to be hit) occured after Marshall was already outside of the club. I guess Zach Zaidman had reported that based upon conversations he has had with the police (no idea who he'd be able to talk to cause I'd imagine the police couldn't talk publicly about this), that Marshall is no longer being looked at in the investigation. -
Solid move. I'm looking forward to a full year of Conte (especially with him having a year under his belt). He looks like he could be a really good safety. No idea what to expect of Wright anymore but Steltz is a good special teams guy and a solid backup and quite frankly, he just might be a capable starter.
-
He's had 2 big games against the Bears. Dude is physically superior to any of our other ends. Very good athlete and very good pass rusher. Put him opposite of Pepp and I wouldn't be surprised if he racked up 12-13 sacks. Guy can play. Probowl type talent but not yet a pro bowl player (who knows if he'll be one). He's above average and while I wouldn't give the house to him, I'd give him 7-8M.
-
Solid move. He is a decent end and can play tackle. Gives the Bears depth, especially if they can't resign Okoye and if they can't get Whimbley or another DE in FA. My guess is if they can't go that route, we'll see the Bears go the route of a DE early.
-
Davis is a solid TE and I think he should get better. Perfectly fine for this move. I'd also like them to resign Okoye.

So lets say you don't have Knox. The wide receiving corps currently is: Marshall Bennett Hester Weems Sanzenbacher Am I forgetting anyone? At the very least, that means you need at least 1 more wideout. If you think weems is more of a 6th (which I've seen some people say; e.g., his value is on special teams), than that means you really have 2 spots open. However, with the money the Bears are paying Hester, I could see the argument Hester shouldn't be anything worse than a 4th. Which means I'm 50/50 on whether they will add 1 or 2 more wideouts. They could always go 1, wait till closer to camp when they have a better sign as to what Knox will do, and pick up someone that is a veteran cap casualty around June.

With the risk surrounding Forte, this makes more sense. If you get a guy like Bush, at what point do you see what kind of trade market Forte has? Say you have Forte, Bell, Barber. That is a pretty solid backfield and you might get a 2nd plus another pick for Forte (and save some serious coin). I haven't thought it all through and I'd prefer to keep Forte, however, lots of things to think about.
-
There is a rumor running around that the Bears are talking to Royal. He had almost agreed to a deal when another team came out of left field. Cutler mentioned he talked to Royal yesterday as well. I put the odds at 50/50 that he ends up with the Bears.
-
Tania Ganguli @taniaganguli Mincey just walked in. Said he was 5 minutes from signing with the #Bears when Gene Smith called and talked him into staying #Jaguars
-
Bell isn't what I'd call a banger. His style is very similar to Forte and he's most definitely not a short yardage back. Bush is that short yardage 3rd down guy. He's better than that though so I don't know why he'd pick the Bears.
-
Interesting. He's a good rb but no idea the Bears would be interested in throwing that much coin at a rb.
-
Yep. Its official, he's signed.
