I had heard some comments about that and I think field(s) might have even implied that. I think it was more a subtle component that sometimes having a vet QB around isn't a good thing. In this case - I'm going to presume some truth to both sides of the equation, I also don't think Field(s) looking at his phone in this scenario is why he didn't end up being good either. For whatever reason he just couldn't make that leap during his time with the Bears -> I don't expet him to with the Steelers but his raw tools are still tantalizing and I do believe even if he can't make a material leap, he can still make modest progress in that area and that is good enough to be a mediocre starting QB in this league.

I think Scott will surprise us in a good way this year.

They will definitely add another pass rusher - won’t be a great player but it will be someone. My guess is a Ngakoue will be back. They clearly need to upgrade next year cause outside of Sweat the line is pretty meh. Rushing attack should be solid with Swift, Herbert Johnson but a huge pass to being #1 rushing attack was having Justin Fields. So no - I don’t think this is the NFL’s top rushing defense - solid, yes, but not top5.

Vegas has him at like 3600 yard's or something as his over under. I also think if you are saying those are the high probability yet those are 6th best all-time that probably says that isn't "High Probability". Do I think he is capable, certainly, I also think there is a large number of really talented #1 overall picks who had their fair share of struggles in their first year, as that adjustment takes time.

The Chicago Bears are on the clock! OFFSEASON OPEN THREAD!

Plus I think if you wait until after the draft the signing(s) don't count to the comp pick formula, so I presume there is a wave of free agency we will see take off once the comp impacts are gone. My guess is also the more time you can wait on Connor the better cause you have a better idea of his general health/recovery from the injury. -
I agree - I think people are overating a strong finish. The dline has Sweat who came out on fire - but it is still on the mediocre side. DB's look good but are young so can take a step back vs. forward and we literally played so few quality QB's all year. Do I think the D is solid - sure, but this is not a top 5 D, I would argue it might be a Top 10 D. Note: I am very happy with direction of the team - but I think we have a lot of overhyping potentially going on here. Just like with the team won 7 games but its now destined for 11. We had some win's against really really bad teams and yes we had some tough losses but at same time we benefited from playing teams with hurt QB's, etc (as did teams with us).

Wow - I had no idea. I was thinking they were like a d2 school.
-
James Madison is a top 25 team?
-
He is a legit weapon. And they jumped back in for a defender in 5th.
-
I’m starting to get real excited about him. His character and work ethic is stellar and when you see a Fitzgerald comp thrown out - man if he can be 80 percent of Fitz they got a total stud.
-
If they go all offense - I’ll throw out Tennessee running back (Wrigth), his USC teammate (Rice), or Van Pratt as my picks. If they go defense - I’m hoping the Oregon dlinemen is still on the board.
-
I think they are going to have to live with that this year and than next offseason they can address it - whether via free agency, the draft or both. Back to your point - they are focused on building a culture and continuing to develop roster while also putting Caleb in a great spot to develop. I think if all goes right they can make a run at 10 games - but let’s get it right and than add another wave of talent next year (maybe even a trade acquisition).
-
Well said and I agree - we have two really good vets and both hopefully will help Rome (and Scott) and heck maybe even Velus (cause Velus physical skills are legitimately good).
-
Rodgers is a really good comp.
-
I agree - I see him getting another dline or two on one year deals - whether 2nd wave of free agency or post draft cut.
-
This is well said - I would be shocked if they like Van Pratt if they move up - maybe Borom and our 4th to move up a few or a next year 5th or 6th to move up 5-10 spots.
-
This is a good pick in terms of BPA. Raw upside but needs some development. I like what they are doing and expect next year we will see a few more defensive selections. I wonder if they go db / safety in round 4 or maybe stick with them and take an interior / center prospect.

I think Odunze is a really really good and grounded dude. He is going to work hard, etc. He has good 40 speed and shown a ton of ability to make tight catches and use his body. It really comes down to me - will those strength's overcome his lack of quickness - or is he quick enough to get enough seperation where he can dominate in the pro's or with the margin's shrinking and the hits better does it kind of negate some of his strength's and he ends up more "okay". Barring injury I think no matter what he will be a solid 750-900 yard guy...the question is can he be a 1300 yard type of receiver.
-
Hell yeah!!!
-
There is a shot they could get one of the better center prospects at 75.
-
They can get a comp pick if Allen leaves.
-
I was good with a trade back but can’t complain. I think my first prediction months ago was Caleb and Rome. I’m fired up.
-
I also think the NFL prefers teams to wait - even though technically the Bears could announce they are selecting him and actually sign him to a contract before the draft.
-
Is the above like the last X years worth of 1RP and who hit vs. who didn't by position?
-
Nice move - my presumption is if the Bears arrow continues to accelerate upwards he will be gone at the end of the year - but I'm good if he wants to be picky and stick around a bit longer
