  1. Melton had some off the field issues with a DUI back in 2007. It should also be pointed out that this guy is a converted RB whose playing DE. He was a backup RB at Texas for his first two years and really has limited experience at the end spot. However, athletically he's a freak and could turn into one of those ends that can get to the QB and play the run very well. I like that we are getting guys that are athletically strong, especially since we have the best dline coach in football who can help them develop and improve there techniques.
  2. The Bears added three offensive lineman this off-season, one a long time probowler, one a mediocre starting tackle who will provide great depth, and another a young guy who might just turn into a beast of a guard. Plus we have a 1st round draft pick technically added to the ranks. The Bears had far bigger needs than oline, imo. Our defense was absolutely freakin horrid last year and it started with the inability to get to the QB. The Bears now have gotten a DT and DE that are freaks athletically and who should really help the Bears get pressure. Plus, Brown and Oguneley are old and Ogunleye and Anderson are due to be FA's so the Bears are really protecting themselves. I have zero problem with these moves.
  3. On a sidenote, for those wanting Duke, don't the Bears currently have enough guards so to speak that we wouldn't go after a guy like Duke but would be more likely to take a guy that plays tackle who might fit in at tackle or worse case slides to guard? Or are we thinking that Beekman is the center in a year or two and Duke can slide in in a year and than Pace will eventually be gone and Omilaye plays elsewhere? I will say this, Robert Garza is a bad starter, but I just don't know if he'll really start.
  4. Marqes Colston and Bernard Berrian both say hello.
  5. Heck, I wouldn't even be opposed to selecting another WR in this round if someone like Murphy whose more toolsy is available.
  6. Iglesias is a poor mans Robiskie. Robiskie had a little better NFL body but otherwise they project to be very similar players, imo.
  7. I don't know. They moved down, got a very athletic dlineman (a key in the cover 2 defense), than picked up a WR that many here would have been happy with at 49, and now also have this nice pick right here which could go to a starter or Duke or whomever else. Looks pretty good to me, imo.
  8. Yep, makes that trade look real good, imo. And we have this extra pick here. We got excellent value with each of our 3rd round selections today. You could argue that Iglesias was similar value to the WR's we would have taken in the 2nd round (as they all tended to grade out similarly by most draft experts). Now what else do we get. We might just find our starting safety because we made that deal. I love it. Or for those clamoring DUke is always there but every year there are a few guys like this that fall and afll and fall and than it usually turns out that they fell for a reason. Than again, Alex Brown fell and fell and fell and we got him and it was a steal for us
  9. Well, you were right. I prefered Murphy but no denying that Iglesias has the ability to be a solid and productive player in this league. I like the move down in the draft even more because I think the Bears ended up getting good value at there first two selections and we should have good value available with our next pick.
  10. But don't be shocked when we haven't heard of any of em.
  11. Bears like Clemons so I think he might go here.
  12. The Bears are also going to grab Victor Harris at one point. He's fits the mold of a cover 2 corner and is a total ballhawk.
  13. Angelo is very much about tools, and Murphy has the tools.
  14. They aren't going to take Duke and I doubt they got Iglesias. I do think Murphy is there guy with one of these picks, but I'm not certain what they do with the other. I still think we see some sort of guy that profiles at safety although it might be a CB they are going to move to safety.
  15. I want Johnson and Murphy in whatever order.
  16. I don't know, I'd say that defensive end, wide receiver, and safety were our top three needs. I don't know if there is an impact WR on the board and safeties tend to develop from practically any round in the draft (just depends on the guy you pick) and this end has special athletic ability. I don't mind the pick at all. Sucks that there was a recent run on wideouts, but I think the Bears are going to draft a safety here.
  17. I'm quite happy about this. It gives the Bears ammo to make some moves in this draft, plus we had a few needs and I don't think there was an impact WR sitting there. At least none that are that much better than the WR's you figure will be available in the 3rd.
  18. ESPN is raving about how good the Cutler deal is looking for the Bears. Great pickup here. Maluaga is a freakin beast.
  19. I now want Urlacher and a 3rd for Boldin and than have the Bears take Malagua with our 2nd (if of course he's there).
  20. You can pretty much forget safety. I still think Louis Murphy in the 3rd could look really good too. I'm starting to like the idea of Johsnon, DE, Georgia Tech.
  21. Wells is going to go to Arizona and Unger to the Steelers or at least thats the rumor.
  22. I think the Bears are going to have to severley reach on a WR at 49, so I think they should move down or target another position.

  24. Which WR goes off the board here to the Jets. I have to assume its Nicks, but I hope not.
