  1. Palmer speaks highly of him and Krenzels backing is actually significant. Krenzel might not have had the tools to play in the pro's but he was smart, very smart and his blessing says a lot, imo .
  2. Mike Tice is a good oline coach, a good OC and a very good coach in general. I don't see how anyone could be upset with this move. He has had success calling plays and was a solid coach outside of the boat incident. ANd you talk about keeping players in check, that is Lovie's job not Tice's and that is one of Lovie's strong points (not necessarily talking down to players but keeping the lockeroom under control). Tice would be a nice hire as an OC and an even better hire as an oline coach.
  3. Cutler is also the reason that no matter who our Head Coach is that our OC job will be enticing.
  4. Except everyone (not Chicago media but national media as well) had Fewell leaning towards the Bears. Money clearly was a factor in this.
  5. This pisses me off more than anything. It had to come down to money and the Bears didn't offer it. Hell, the Bears were going to have to offer more because there was much better job security in New York than Chicago. This pisses me off big time.
  6. Zampese is being interviewed by the Bears again today and is believed to be meeting with Jay Cutler as well. I got a feeling that this is our new OC.
  7. On a sidenote, I was dreaming last night that the Bears moves paid off perfectly and Lovie ends up getting another extension in two years after we win the superbowl!!!! Of course before I got to celebrate my fiance woke me up.
  8. Martz wasn't efficient in Detroit. I think he's a great offensive mind but I don't know if he is the right fit for a team that wants to win in November/December/January. His team would be fine for the 1st week of February since you won't have to battle the elements in the Superbowl.
  9. I'd like him as non OC coach.
  10. Exactly, you want to be in a position to offer your next head coach (if things fail) a full draft board. I expect the Bears to be more active than people anticipate in FA. I also expect to see the Bears hand the reigns to some of the young players we've heard about over the years and see if they sink or swim. Lovie isn't going to get a ton of help on the defensive side (in terms of big signings) as I think Angelo is going to be focused on upgrading the offensive side of the football via FA (oline, very good back-up, ie Chester Taylor).
  11. We can't go down the slope of giving up 1st rounder after 1st rounder. I think if we move up, it will be because we are trading a veteran player or two to move up in the draft. And I'd assume we'd be targeting a dt, safety or an olineman.
  12. Wouldn't this be an outside the box hire. Martz is backing him and he really isn't friends of Lovie, rather close to Lovie's guys. Also, this is how it works in the NFL and professional sports in general. You tend to hire guys you know or are comfortable with (or that get referred to you by guys you know).
  13. Josh McDaniels was a QB coach who moved his way up and did fine in New England. They often times hire the small, young, sharp minds and it seems to work out for them. Obviously you have to target the right guys though. Zampese seems like a pretty good target and I like his background. We have no idea how he will handle play-calling but his dad was a sucessful OC so he at least can look to him for help. I support this idea.
  14. He went to Seattle or Washington? If it was to Washington than it makes sense given how close he was to Shanny. And say what you want, but if we get Fewell, we'd be getting a highly respected DC around NFL circles to go with the most respected dline coach in the league.
  15. DJ Moore, Bowman, and Graham will all have to get better. Plus add a veteran who gets cut and I'll be content. Bowman has a lot of talent, Graham is solid, and Moore is supposed to be pretty good. Let them work with Fewell (if he is our new DC) and see what happens.
  16. Amare Spivey just went pro from Iowa and I think he coudl be a pretty nice value pick if he is there when our 3rd round selection is on the clock. Any of Iowa's remaining olineman would look pretty good too.
  17. Anderson will be back NFO. Everything out of the Bears media campaign has them hyping up how he finished the season strong and that they expect to tender him a contract and bring him back.
  18. He's also been considered for a few head coaching gigs. He's a sharp mind who'd be an excellent get, imo.
  19. Reeves would really be interested in a non head coaching position?
  20. The Tribune is denying this report. Fewell will choose between the Bears and Giants and to be honest, I don't really understand why in the hell he would pick the Bears over the Giants. The Giants were decimated with injuries but are just a year removed from having a pretty damn good defense and the coaching staff is on much more solid ground there. I'll be thrilled if we get him, but I have my doubts. I really want Clements as our OC.
  21. But to leave for Seattle and to take the assistant that everyone says he didn't like or at least the Tribune thought he didn't like?
  22. Based on what they are saying out here, it sounds like Carrol is already assembling his coaching staff and will be leaving USC. Bates will be joining him as the OC. We'll see if it ends up shaking out that way.
  23. Makes no sense. We read the Tribune reports and they all say Carrol would be perfectly fine if Bates left, yet he's now trying to have him come to Seattle. WTF.
  24. For a few year stretch, Tillman was one of the best cover corners in the game. He is only good now as he's gotten older but lets not forget the way he would handle Randy Moss in his prime.
  25. If you found a probowler per draft, you would be the best franchise in football by a long-shot. It just doesn't work out that way.
