  1. The TalkBears.com forums have been upgraded to the brand new version of Invision Software. The new forums are a lot more feature rich and are a major upgrade to the forums we are coming from. These forums are faster with a lot more options and have been implemented in an effort to continue the site's growth process. If anyone notices any minor errors, please post them here and we'll take care of them. I want to take a quick second to thank all the great members we have here at TalkBears. I know lots of you have come over from Soxtalk but we have other unique members of TalkBears as well and this site wouldn't be what it is without all of your help and posts and hopefully in time this place will grow into the best online Bears community on the web. So please, if you have any friends that are Bears fans, tell them to check us out and as always if your interested in the Bulls, Sox, or Blackhawks check out our other sites.
  2. He's the type of WR that would make our WR corps much better, allowing us to eventually have 4 very strong WR's (in terms of Mush, Lelie, Bradley and Berrian). I'd definately be a fan of the move.
  3. Easy schedule is hard to look at in the NFL since teams really change so much on a year to year basis (especially as of late).
  4. If our line can block and our backs stay healthy the rushing attack should be above average. Mix that in with some talented (albeit inexperienced) WR's and two solid QBs and the makings of a decent offense are there but a lot of things will have to go right as well. I am glad Benson has done all the right things after his holdout and he is 100% and really starting to understand things. Hopefully he'll be able to make adjustments and improve his blocking cause we don't want Rex or anyone else taking unneeded hits. In terms of Jones it was comforting to see that he was able to come into ATA's and not miss a beat. We will need him to play this year as he is our #1 back, even though Benson could be better, having the vet there makes things a lot nicer.
  5. Briggsy made the team. I'm really hoping we can get him inked long term because he's a big time piece to our defense.
  6. I can't make any predictions yet, but I do think Mushin is going to have 1100 yards with Berrian and Bradley both having pretty good seasons if they stay healthy. I think in general we will be a much better passing offense and hopefully our line can block and the team can stay healthy. This should all help the rushing attack as well.
  7. Just want to say welcome aboard. Its going to be really interesting to see what happens. If a legit 2nd and 3rd can really step up, things can get a lot easier for Mushin and in general our passing offense could drastically improve. I'm excited to see Berrian and Bradley get the 2nd and 3rd spots and I assume they will do exactly that barring injury but Davies is a really intriguing name. Davies is explosive and while he isn't the biggest guy in the world you can see Drake has been really impressed with the quick conversion he's made and he could be the type of guy we get the ball to on a short slant or a crossing pattern just to see him take the ball and turn it up field and make something happen. Our WR core is inexperienced, but the talent is there and we have a vet whose been there and done that leading the way. Best of all, these guys now have a year under Turner's system and we have more depth at QB.
  8. This was his response (IN PFT) which was in response to an earlier PFT article. Pretty good article in general getting some info on both sides.
  9. Seriously, really nice job by Angelo to get this guys signed and in camp in time. We are the first time to finish up having signed every draft pick and doing so well in advance. I guess this is one of the pluses to moving out of the 1st round, lol.
  10. This is some good stuff. I've long felt that Grossman has the attitude and ability to become a complete gunslinger type QB. The question is whether he can put all those injuries behind him and start to stay on the field and play consistently for this entire year and obviously the upcoming years as well. One really interesting part of this article was the mention of Davies. I didn't realize we moved him to WR and Rex really said some nice things about him. Of course Rex isn't going to say anything bad about anyone in this, but he didn't have to completely rave like he did here. I'm now going to be watching Davies in the preseason games. I know he has some skills and was a hell of a playmaker in the CFL.
  11. Miller did a nice job with the Bears and hopefully he's a solid announcer.
  12. Nope, they are in negotiations with him though. Like I said, no pick higher than Hester (not named Mario Williams) has signed a contract yet. Only 21 draft picks have signed thus far.
  13. This is from sports illustrated and its a writer or something along those lines whose making this comment but I think it shows the type of potential Bradley possesses. Hopefully he stays healthy and is just as fast/quick as he was before being hurt. That and he can continue to make progress with his hands and route-running.
  14. Hester is the highest draft pick (not named Mario Williams) to have signed a contract. We have 4 of the 21 draft picks who have signed already which is pretty impressive. Angelo appears to want to be done with all this stuff so he can get to business with Jones (taking offers, etc) as well as Briggs.
  15. The Chicago Bears have now came to terms with 4 of there draft picks with Williams and Hester being 3/4. With Briggs contract in the air Williams is a talented LB who the Bears are obviously hoping can provide depth and potentially step in for Briggs if he does really leave the team in a year.
  16. Devin Hester has signed a contract according to multiple sources in the media (trib, suntimes). Its great to have him signed so he'll be in camp from the get go. The Bears are going to develop him into a CB and obviously they think he can in time turn into a game breaking CB that can be a real ball hawk. But until than we'll definately be counting on him on special teams (both returning kicks and probably punts).
  17. Considering our other two LB's are top notch athletes this really is a nice move. Hill is the smart LB who is always in the right place at the right time. He may not be the best athlete, but he is exactly what we need on one side considering the explosiveness of the other two. Hill isn't flashy but he's a very good fit for our defense. We locked him up and my guess is this gives us a lot of protection in case Briggs leaves at the end of the year. Glad to have Hill here for a few more years.
  18. Very interesting. Angelo likes signing this quality special teams guy and he'll be another good fit on special teams to go with Peterson, and Abayandajo (however you spell that).
  19. Hopefully he'll be working with Grossman all season. Mushin is a tough guy who usually has golden hands so I'm expecting a much better year from him this year. Plus if Rex goes down we have a much more capable backup and Mushin should have at least a bit less pressure since Bradley/Berrian and company are a little more prepared to step up.
  20. We could do it, but I think we'll wait till just before that way this forum gets a lot of discussion going and can stay active and all that good stuff. I think you guys under-rate Iowa, but I like things that way especially since Iowa didn't come through last year when they were a bit over-rated (luckily Heads doesn't read this forum )
  21. Sweet, welcome aboard to both here and talkBulls
  22. I hate seeing that because Briggs is one of my favorite players and I think he's a really key part to our defense. He's one of the top OLB's in the league and while I'm sure he's partially helped by playing with Urlacher, he is still very good and very valuable. I can't comment on the contract because thats one side (and the avg is good) but maybe the guaranteed money wasn't there, who knows. Considering his agent (Rosenprick) I'd likely take the side of the Bears. Glad to see Briggs is going to report and play though and hopefully that sends enough of a message for the two sides to sit back down and get something hammered out sooner or later.
  23. This is a really nice signing. Peterson provides very good depth and will get carries this year (cause its inevitable that someone gets hurt for at least some part of the season) and will also be a very good special teams player. In 2 years time, Peterson will probably be the main backup (especially if Benson steps up). I say that because I think there is a good chance (that if all goes well this year) that Jones will be moved next off-season.
