  1. They had quite a few major mistakes on those, but I really don't care too much. We were ranked crappy entering last season and things worked out just fine. Lets go out this season and do more of the same (except this time lets pick up some W's in the playoffs). I'm really excited for the start of football.
  2. It includes depth, but we have one WR that has ever proven himself and that guy is an aging vet. I really have no problem with those rankings, especially since they mentioned that our guys were limited by a rookie QB and that there is some talent in the corps. Heck, Detroit which has (on paper) a far more talented WR core wasn't rated much more ahead of ours (Roy is better than anyone we have and has proven it while they have a better TE plus they have that guy #10 who came on pretty strong and a coach that will bring out the best of there core). And yes I think Detroit's WR core was insanely over-rated entering last year, but its still got the tools to be better than our WR core. That said I wouldn't trade teams for the world and I think our offense will be much improved this year and these rankings mean jack in terms of W/L.
  3. ESPN ranked our WR corps at 29. Although they did say some pretty nice things about our core. Mentioned how Bradley should develop into a better football player but felt we need a better TE, especially in this day and age where the TE is becoming more and more important. They also mentioned how our WR core suffered from having a rookie QB for most of the season.
  4. One torn ACL is something, a second is a bit more scary simply because it tends to become a trend. However, he's a very good athlete and with the medical advances that have been made over the past 10-15 years, with the write work ethic, proper rehab, and smart football skills he should be able to overcome from that injury and go on to have a great career (if in fact he is a good football player).
  5. Hadn't seen this anywhere, but the Bears are going to give Garza the starting nod (at least as of now) and obviously Metcalf figures in to be the guy that replaces Brown. I'd look for JA to do his usual where he snags his backups off a training camp roster and eventually turns them into starting olineman.
  6. Sounds like pretty good news. I was surprised to see the Bears graded both Williams and Williamson over Bradley. The tools are definately there for Bradley there, its just a matter of him staying healthy and improving his route running and consistently catching the ball (he seemed to be making strides at both prior to getting hurt). And the Bears may have been right at least in regards to Williams (since the Lions pretty much are saying they won't be playing Williams much at all).
  7. Welcome aboard. Great to have another Bears fan amongst us
  8. If he gets into camp keep him, if not screw him. We went out and gave him an offer when he was an unrestricted free agent. Its his job to go out and fullfill that offer by playing, not sitting around whining.
  9. I forgive you for following TOSU. I'm especially mad about that whooping the Irish took mixed with the fact that you guys also whooped up on my Hawkeyes. My 2 teams and you clobbered both of em last year.
  10. Vasher was sly and wise and got himself back into camp. In the end I Think it will help him get a big time contract to stick around Chicago (probably during the season).
  11. Awesome news. I get back into town and find out that Vashy is back on board. Always a good thing. Now if only someone had a news story of Briggs signing that was true.
  12. This guy is never going to amount to anything but a walking injury report. This is from the SunTimes: NOTE: Wide receiver Airese Currie pulled up awkwardly at the end of Tuesday's OTA and left the field with a trainer.
  13. I think this sums it up perfectly. Angelo has said he will not go out and extend a guy with two years left on his contract. The only exception he has made to that policy is when he extended Urlacher.
  14. First off, welcome aboard. I just saw where Vasher did in fact leave camp. My guess is it has to do with him being the top CB on our team, yet he's paid less than both Tillman, RMJ and for all I know he's probably paid about the same as Wesley. Its a major loss and it actually upsets me that we are having so many problems with our young players not showing up to camp (Briggs, Vasher and than the older Thomas Jones). It seemed as if every off-season while other teams were having contract problems, the Bears were fine (JA has always taken care of the young players and offered them up extensions). Hopefully JA will be able to get Briggs and Vasher back into camp and locked up. As far as Jones goes, I am less concerned because he signed here as a FA and has no reason to whine and complain about his contract or the fact that he has a bit of pressure because he's playing in front of our top pick of 05 (Ced Benson).
  15. I liked the pick at the time, but Haynes really doesn't fit into Lovie's "speed" oriented defense, although I think he should provide good depth as a defensive tackle who could also split time at DE in a pinch. I still don't know if he'll make the final roster, but we will see. Anyway, here's the article:
  16. Wade Wilson Answers Your Questions Pretty good article talking a lot about Rex Grossman and our QB situation.
  17. Official Story @ ChicagoBears.com A guy I think could turn into a really nice blocking fullback who could ocassionally be a safety valve for Rex or Griese in time. Good to see we are getting guys signed quickly. This is our 3rd pick to sign.
  18. Entire List By Sports Illustrated Cedric Benson Running Back, Bears He worked out with the first team in minicamp, most likely because Thomas Jones skipped voluntary workouts. Jones will probably take back the starting role, but don't be surprised if Benson is on the field more often this year and starts to produce. Bears management wants the second-year back to succeed, and he has the talent to do so. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thought it was interesting to see people outside of Chicago think relatively highly of Benson still. He really seems to be doing all the right things in what should be his first full off-season with the team.
  19. Larry Mayer on the official Bears site had an interesting tidbit on Reggie Harrel. I realize its only practice, but we have lacked a WR with some legit hands for some time. I assume with his size, he must not be the speediest WR, but if you can catch and run good routes, you can play a long time in this league (Jerry Rice). I should add I had never heard of him until I read this on the Bears site.
  20. A high 1st (do you mean top 10 or are you talking like 25-32). Maybe 25-32, but even thats an if. You got to remember that Shaun Alexander and Edgerin James were reportedly available for a 1st or 2nd round pick and no one bought. I think Jones with another 1300 yard season would be as attractive as those players, simply because of his contract (more affordable) but we'd be really lucky to get a 25-32 pick and I'd gladly take a 2nd rounder for him (now or next year if he keeps up his lousy attitude). The only thing I wouldn't like is we would be going with an unknown in Benson. I think Benson is talented as hell, but I'd hate for us to find out that he can't do it (because Peterson isn't an everydown back, he's a good backup who could start a game or two in a pinch, but not 16) and than mis out on the playoffs or not be able to reach the superbowl because of a bad rushing attack (I do believe we have a team capable of potentially making a lot of noise this season; obviously all would have to click, but the talent is there).
  21. Too bad he's turned into a total douche. Cause if he worked hard and came in and had another 1300 yard season, I'm sure someone would be willing to give him big bucks and a team would be willing to give us a high 2nd (maybe and I mean a big maybe a late 1st).
  22. I doubt that will be the case, but considering we didn't have a 1st round pick, we should be able to get everyone signed and in camp on time.
  23. Bears | Reed signs four-year deal Thu, 8 Jun 2006 17:44:01 -0700 ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Chicago Bears have signed rookie OG Tyler Reed, a sixth-round draft choice, to a four-year deal worth about $1.6 million. The deal includes an $81,470 signing bonus. Bears | Anderson signs four-year deal Thu, 8 Jun 2006 17:40 8 -0700 ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Chicago Bears have signed rookie DE Mark Anderson, a fifth-round draft choice, to a four-year deal. Terms of the deal are not yet available.
  24. It appears we are willing to trade Jones over this whole hubub, but it will take at least a high 2nd round draft pick. I would hate to see Jones go, but if he's going to be a prick about all this, I think its best to cut ties (if we can get value for him) and San Francisco could use a RB and would obviously have a nice pick to offer.
