Draft Recap
Yes, finally a Clone comes to the Bears. I can only hope that has the same effect as my Hawkeyes always going to play on the NFL team I hate (the Colts). Cause now a team I hate (ISU) has a player coming to Chicago. Is a superbowl championship next...I think so!!!

I think the last thing the Bears need to take is a QB. They have Orton as the 3, Griese as a 2 and Rex as the one. Next year will be when they consider a QB and more likely that would be via FA or a big time trade (and only if Rex faltered).

Nah...actually it doesn't hurt at all. I'm still surprised. I figured I'd be at least sore from 15 stitches but the only painful thing was finally taking off the bandage and ripping off half of my eyelash, lol.

The guy I'd love to fall all the way to the Bears pick in the 7th round is Rhema McKnight.

I like these two picks. And screw Troy Smith, I'd prefer Orton...far better tools.

Draft Recap
I really like Brown, mainly because he is a stud against the run and a solid pass rusher. Ogunleye is also a good De against the run and a solid pass rusher. I think both of them are a big reason our defense is consistently good (albeit Ogunleye hasn't been the monster pass rusher I expected him to be).

Screw depth, we should have the ability to draft for talent and if this team is drafting for depth we shouldn't have taken a DE in the 2nd round nor should they have taken Wolfe or another LB because oline and DT are bigger depth positions. The 2nd day, go ahead, make some depth picks, but early on this team has the luxury of being able to get best available talent and utilize it to make the team better. They did do that with the first round pick and it sounds like our 2nd round pick is pretty solid (although there were other guys I personally liked more, mainly because I didn't see any need for a DE). However, JA has earned the benefit of the doubt but that doesn't mean I can't rip him to shreds if this ends up being a horrible draft (not with all the different picks this team had, especially considering this was a deep draft).

One difference, Turner is an absolute tough runner and Wolfe just isn't. That said he has a shitload of speed and could be a solid change of pace back but I'd have liked a back that we could have used not only as a change of pace back but as a potential starter in case Benson got hurt or didn't pan out.

Interesting, DE is the last position I expected the Bears to go with, especially that early. Is he going to be more of a DT? It would make sense if he played both DE/DT and he was gonna slide in there but I just don't think this squad needs another DE.

Wow, that was a pretty good size return. I think it makes sense because now they'll have a couple 3rd round picks that should get us some key guys that will fill some depth needs.

The Bears just have never been interested in drafting non speed guys so I'm not surprised they went away from Jarret and Rice could still be there depending on what the Bears get (even though Rice too, is not a speed guy). I think they may be moving down because the guy JA wants isn't slotted to go this soon. That or the Chargers offered great value (it will be interested to see what we get.

I still think we may be surprised here. There are still some good tackles on the board.

There is a chance that the Bucs just took the guy the Bears would have potentially drafted. They may still look at an OT here, otherwise I think you'll see them grab a WR. I think they lean towards Rice.

The crazy thing is this....people were so pissed last year about not taking a te, but I think it worked out because Olsen is a superior athlete to everyone but Vernon Davis (who the Bears had no chance at).

freakin Awesome if we get him.- Official NFL Draft Day Thread
freak did someone trade up.- Official NFL Draft Day Thread
There are going to be a lot of trades. San Fran will take Staley. I just hoep there are still a ton of guys on the board when the Bears come up so they can move down and gain some more and than just have a boatload of quality picks and still get two guys on there early on list.- Official NFL Draft Day Thread
Seriously they could have taken WR's with there first two picks and I wouldn't have faulted them. They have an absolute horrid WR core, for cripes sake Gage/Wade are two of there best.- Official Mock Draft Thread
With no good trade offers, the Raiders make the only logical selection....drafting Jamarcus Russel, QB, LSU...the Detroit Lions are now on the clock. Other players considered, Joey Thomas, but after the Gallery disaster Al Davis did not allow me to pull the trick on another tackle. I also strongly considered Adrian Peterson but franchise backs are a thing of the past in this gm's eyes.- Happy 1 Year Anniversary to TalkBears
Whooo....happy aniversary...may year two be as memorable but may it also bring more Bear fans and a Lombardi trophy!!!!- Mock Draft Trade/Pick Talk
Out of curiosity when does the draft start (so I know when I need to make my pick). And yes my pick is up for trade. Yes. - Official NFL Draft Day Thread
