DT first day need in the draft?
We obviously have a lot of depth when it comes to tackles but we also have some question-marks. We don't know what type of DT Dvoraceck can be. He looks like a pretty solid prospect but injuries have prevented him from playing and thats really the best way to evaluate someone. Tommie Harris is an absolute stud but we don't know what type of player he will come back as. Will he lack the same explosion he had before his injury? If he does he surely wouldn't be near as special as a player as he was. And than there is Ian Scott who is due to be a free agent and right now I can't see (with our other question-marks) us just letting him walk. Scott is very good against the run and is going to really need to play well down the stretch and in the playoffs for us to succeed. That said I think we have a dire need to get some young offensive lineman that we can start grooming to take over because i'd hate to see our line get riddled with injuries and us not having guys that could step in and replace them (since it is getting older).

Tank Johnson?
Sorry but as much as I want the Bears to win, If Johnson was in possession of a Leon Lett like quantity of drugs, I want him to rott for it. I already whined and complained about his off-field problems in the past and think the best thing you can do with consistent malcontents thats get into legal problems is cut ties with them. I am waiting to see what actually happened, but I do not feel sorry for him, I feel sorry for the team that relied on him and us fans. He's just a f***ing prick that deserves whatever wrath comes on him for breaking the law (if in fact we find out he had posession of drugs with the intent of distributing it).

Tank Johnson?
Ya, apparently they found at least some of the things according to the Tribune. Although they did not get into any specifics. Tank has already had a few problems and this makes me want to unload his ass so fast. I really hope somehow he isn't involved but I'm sure he is and I'm sure he'll suffer because of it and unfortunately a position that is already thin will suffer another loss.

Tank Johnson?
Its Alonzo Spellman all over again.

Playoff tickets on sale Dec 14th
Hope someone that was a diehard was able to pull through and get them.

Tank Johnson?
Ya speculation is that it is roids, but considering they just got a search warrant and searched his entire home makes it sound far far worse. Who knows, we may be without both of our starting defensive tackles for the rest of the season. I know Tank had some past issues with the law already and I just hope this isn't as bad as it is sounding right now (as I assume the worse when I hear someone's house is being raided by the police).

Bears Contract Situation
Most importantly....Lovie Smith and Jerry Angelo will both be getting fat contracts this off-season.
-
Interesting comments about Briggs
The contract was something offered a while ago. My hope is that Urlacher is a man of his words and does offer to give in a bit and that we find a way to franchise him and lock him up to a deal that pays him mega bucks (50 mill plus). The guy is that good and I completely agree with Urlacher's sentiments that he's one of the most underrated players in the game. Bears fans keep saying he'd be easily replaced but I think they'd find out that that couldn't be further from the truth.

Hester playing offense.
I think now, we need to focus on teaching him and developing him as a corner. He has the speed and quickness to be a premiere CB in this league. The first time he ever played the position relatively full time was his final year at Miami so he is still very raw. Lets let him get his touches on the return game and focus on teaching him how to be a good CB. In time (a year or two) as he gets comfortable we may also than work him in on the offense with potential reverses and the likes. This guy is a primetime athlete (and yes I intentionally used the word "primetime").

Are you ready for some football? Gamethread: Bears @ Rams
I should say...I am backing this up by purchasing a Grossman jersey. It may be stupid and this may be on my emotions but he's been my favorite Bear since Rosie Colvin (and right now I've never cheered harder for any Bear player ever and that says something). So this is my first jersey purchase since I bought a McNown one (the only other one I own is a Curtis Conway one as he was my favorite Bear when I was a kid).

Are you ready for some football? Gamethread: Bears @ Rams
I am so so so so so happy that Rexy had a good game. I haven't ever liked and rooted for a Bear player to succeed this much. I was so overjoyed when he had his TD pass to Berrian and than again to Moose. I absolutely love this guy and hope he continues to build upon tonights performance as well as the performances from earlier in the season. Oh and I must say I was very very dissapointed in our defense...it was absolutely horrible and its been getting increasingly worse each and every week as of late. I am hoping this was the start of new things for Rex and at the same time it will be the game where the Bears D realizes they need to go back to the drawing board and clean things up and get back to executing flawlessly.

Can't wait to get out of work and head home to BBQ and watch the game. DVR is set just in case I have to work a little longer tonight.

Tommie Harris Done for the Season
It is official, Harris will undergo season ending surgery on his torn hamstring. This is a huge loss and with it Ian Scott and Tank Johnson will have to step up cause the two of them will get the bulk of the playing time at the DT. We'll also have to see Ogunleye and Brown step up and play at a higher level while Boone and Idonojie will be key as well (and obviously Anderson who will play a lot more now with Alex Brown sliding into the DT spot in passing situations). We can overcome this!!!!

Keys to the Game
I thought it would be cool to all share our keys to tonight's game. Here's mine, but what are everyone elses? We have a 4th or 5th string safety starting, no Tommie Harris, and no Nathan Vasher and are going up against a team with its backs to the wall at home. This my friends is going to be a tough game and its going to give us fans a chance to see who the Bears are and how they will handle this adversity. I'd like to see how the team handles the run against a good back like Stephen Jackson. I still think part of the reason our run defense has suffered is because we've seen less of Ian Scott so I'm hoping his addition will at least partially help off-set the loss of Harris (which is a HUGE HUGE loss). I'm also curious to see how the secondary does against some darn good WR's (without Vasher). Holt is going to be a real tough test for Tillman (as he is for any CB). Offensively I'd like to see a couple things: - Mark Bradley and Bernard Berrian on the field at the same time making plays. These guys are some of our best offensive weapons and need to be out there more. - A TE actually involved in the offense again. Clark please show back up for the rest of the season like you did for the start of the season (and part of this onus obviously falls on Rex to find him and on Turner to actually call good plays) - About 45 rushes (with at least 15 a piece to Jones/Benson If we do all that I think Rex will have a fine game (with maybe 20 pass attempts) and the Bears will pull out a big win as we start the 4th quarter of the season. LETS GO BEARS!!!!

We are really banged up. Heck I can't even figure out will start opposite Danial Manning. I thought I read where both Harris and Johnson are out so I would assume that means Todd Worrell? Going to be a tough game considering some of our best run stuffers are out and Jackson is a quality back. The Bears are going to have to play sharp because I have a bad feeling about this game. LETS GO BEARS!!!! In addition to seeing how the defense plays without Harris, Johnson, Tommie, and Vasher I'm interested in seeing if our offense can do a couple things: - Get production out of both Berrian and Bradley (get them on the field at the same time, both are playmakers) in the same game - Find the freaking tight end - Run the ball 45 plus times (Benson and Jones both getting 15+ carries)

Brian Urlacher
Welcome aboard. Hopefully after tonight we'll have guaranteed a first round bye. That said this is going to be a real tough test, imo. I hope the Bears are ready and will be able to show that they can win despite being pretty banged up defensively.

Update: Tommie Harris done for the year
I think Scott moving out of the lineup was another factor. But I think its obvious the team may have to look for another safety. Regardless, I'm thinking its more and more likely we franchise Briggs (which to me is a great thing).

Niners waive veteran S Parrish
I'm guessing it was because Parrish doesn't have the speed to play in the cover 2.

Rex's struggles
I expect Rex to be fine and come out agressive and fresh and actually play football (instead of thinking thinking thinking..pass). But if he doesn't, we'll see Griese in the 2nd half. I don't necessarily that means we'll see Griese for the rest of the season but if Rex struggles we will see Brian on Monday. I don't expect us to see Brian though because Rex is going to deliver.

Update: Tommie Harris done for the year
This is a major loss. Hopefully he doesn't have a tear of his hamstring and he'll be able to make it back in time for the playoffs. If not I think we'll see a lot of Ian Scott (who is our 2nd best rush stuff defensive tackle). I know one thing, our safeties are going to have to help out against the run a lot more. Hopefully we can overcome this injury cause we do have a lot of depth on our dline.

Boomer Speaks Up
On the bright side I'm pretty sure our defense is all but used to this. And because of that they all witnessed what Rex could do early in the season so I think there past (of having to deal with horrid Qb's/offenses) experiences would make them less apt to really get too mad at Rex considering he's the only guy we've had that could actually lead the team on drives and put up points in a number of years (although Griese has proven he can do that, but he too is prone to interceptions).

Ditka Talks About Grossman
Ditka was pretty dead on, talked about poor coaching as well as what has led to Grossman's struggles. Overall I think this was pretty accurate, especially when talking about the poor coaching (more specifically, Turner's play calling) but I think if Turner tightens things up and calls plays early and often that will be of benefit to Rex (a very steady does of running plays and far more quick plays and crossing patterns and plays designed for Clark) we will see the tides turn and Rex have a good game and begin to continue his development into being one of the better QB's in this league.
