  1. I agree, but on the flip side. If the Bears had Crosby vs <insert random Edge player> across from Sweat all year, they probably win 2 more games, and beat LAR. At that point you are in the NFCC, so there is not much higher to go.
  2. They can restructure other deals to open up more cap if something like that gets done. So I am not too worried about what they have in cap knowing they can work the numbers.
  3. Considering he is at the same pay range as Dalman, I don't know if the Bears wanted to pay a lesser version of Dalman the same amount of money. That is always a losing proposition.
  4. I like to see this as well, the Bears with 2 in that range:
  5. I didn't think about that, but it makes sense.
  6. Bears had 25, and 57, and are now getting 60, so slightly better, 3 in the top 60, and don't forget their 3rd rounder at 89.
  7. I never expected a 2nd rounder, even giving up a late 5th. Pick #60 for Moore and Pick #163. Now if they get anything for Edmunds, that would be icing.
  8. WOW for a 2nd rounder? Bears traded Moore and a 5th for a 2nd.
  9. With Dalman's retirement, the Bears freed up $26.5M, and now have over $18M in cap space. Figure that goes to $33M when Edmunds is traded/released.
  10. $16.5M freed up in cap space. Still waiting on what they got in return.
  11. Well crap, that sucks. What a random time to do that. He was at the Pro Bowl just a few weeks ago.
  12. Original report was a 5th, a 4th is wild to me for a RB2.
  13. Scruggs was pretty bad last year. Either way, just in typing that, Monty had 2 more jump cuts.
  14. I could only find 3 trades that involved ILBs since Roquan was traded. This is who was traded and what they went for: Ernest Jones - 5th Kenneth Murray - 6th Isiah Simmons - 7th Interestingly enough, Jones was also traded in season that year for a 4th. Seeing that there hasn't been an off ball LB traded for more than a 5th, and considering Edmunds's salary, and lack of personal accolades (Pro Bowl, All-Pro), I don't think he would go for more than a 5th unless the Bears threw in a 7th or another player.
  15. Monty traded for a 5th. Will be interesting to see how he looks with a worse offensive line.
  16. Just wanted a catch all thread for non-Bears related moves of interest.

They all should change their numbers too, confuse everyone.
  19. If they get a 5th or something like that, I will be extremely happy.
  20. If they can get ANYTHING for Edmunds, it would be amazing. It will be interesting to see what they do with Moore, or who he goes to. LVR's best WR was Tre Tucker last year after trading Meyers at the deadline. Moore would be a big upgrade and fit well with a rookie QB, assuming they go with Mendoza. It feels like there will be at least 5 new starters on defense this year. That unit really needs to be revamped.
  21. With legal tampering window opening a week from tomorrow, you would think the team would want some clarity on who they can afford before that window. So ultimately, by the end of the week, whatever trades, extensions, restructures they plan on doing should be complete. It is like planning for what you are going to do in poker before you are dealt your hand, there are too many scenarios to plan for, you only have a rough idea what you will do. So you would think they would want to know as early in the process as they can to give them more time to plan in reality and not in what-ifs.

Dexter is not a DA guy so it makes sense. I figure Jaylon Johnson may be the only defender left in another year or two. Stevenson, Dexter, Jarrett, Sweat, Odeyingbo, Edmunds, and Edwards will all be gone. Byard is the only one that may come back, but probably only for another year.

Mitch got the raw end of the deal. Nagy + COVID in 2020 was the ultimate double whammy. Mitch went 6-3, while Foles went 2-5 with the same team. In the 3 games Trubisky "lost" the Bears allowed 35, 43, and 41. The Bears defense didn't allow more than 26 with Foles at QB. The Bears declined his 5th year option only to lose more games the following year, then fire the entire staff. He still has a winning record at QB, with a 78-48 TD-INT Ratio and a career 86.9 QB Rating. Not a superstar, somewhat limited, but still better than Brady Cook, McCarthy, Ward, Gabriel, Mills, Smith, Wentz, and Rattler, all of whom started multiple games last year.
