I thought this was interesting. Considering it is a 17-game season, most people see the Bears going 6-11 or worse. With the Bears schedule, it seems like this would be less likely than the over, but if Fields doesn't take a leap in his 2nd season, then it seems way more likely.

I don't see this as a big deal. This is the dead period where very little happens besides arrests, so as long as that is not occurring, we are good to go.
-
They try to make subjective analysis into objective analysis by calling it a grade. They are more art than science. It always cracks me up because they don't know the play call, the routes, the hots, audibles, blocking scheme, etc, but somehow say X player did something good/bad/right/wrong.
-
Backend is going to be a strength and will cause a lot more turnovers than we have had in a few years.
-
Very true, but not Kmet's fault. He did what he was asked to do. However, he got basically zero RZ targets last year. Also, hard to score on 10-yard hitch routes from the 40.
-
Nagy + Graham. That's why it wasn't. Even with inept playcalling and a QB carousel, he was still a top 12 TE.
-
Nagy took him out in the RZ in favor of Graham. So I would expect a slight bump in targets, receptions and yards and a huge jump in TDs.

Fangio was the only reason 2018 happened. Look at Nagy's team without Fangio, they were lucky to 8-8 in back to back years. Nagy ended up 22-27 without Fangio and it is still amazing he won 22 games. So if Mooney felt like that, can you imagine Fields as a rookie QB who doesn't get any reps in the offseason with the 1s?

The more I have read thru the OTA and mini camp reports from various beat writers, one trend I noticed was a lot of them talking about the same rookies. In almost every recent update, I have seen very positive things written about Braxton Jones, Brisker, Velus Jones, Ebner. Another sleeper is Elijah Hicks who would play in some of the hybrid schemes. He was a 7th rounder, but should've been a 4th or 5th rounder.
-
Yep we will see. He was also a FA so he can sign wherever he wants to. I assume the pulling of the contract would take the Bears out of the equation even though it was the correct thing to do.
-
Yep, signed a 1-yr deal with Pittsburgh:

I would throw the Cowboys and Steelers into the mix as well. Watt + Quinn would be a pretty formidable duo like Bosa + Mack. The Cowboys leading Edge Rusher was Gregory with 6 sacks last year. So those two would definitely be options.

After hearing about the progress of Braxton Jones and then watching his time at the podium (see below), I am going with him as a surprise on offense. If Charles Leno can go from 7th Rounder to Pro Bowl and other guys like Terron Armstead can go from small school to All Pro, why not Braxton Jones? He talks about how he didn't use his hands/arms that much in college and still was one of the best tackles from a smaller school.

The 2 trade windows are before training camp or in season before the trading deadline.
-
If the Bears bring in a vet, especially one to a substantial deal, it is going to be in this window between OTAs and training camp. That way whatever vet joins doesn't really miss any critical time with the team compared to some of the younger guys who need the reps. I also think if Quinn is going to be traded, it is going to be before they show back up for training camp, because they are not going to want the distraction of a hold out.

The Jenkins situation is concerning, but like you said, he didn't have a rookie offseason, had surgery, didn't get many reps when he did play, and now is in an entirely new offensive scheme. The optimistic side is that Braxton Jones is legit, the pessimistic side is that Jenkins has looked terrible.

Thanks gents, I will post LeagueSafe info once we get everyone confirmed.

Gents, TalkBears Keeper League has been renewed for 2022 (now in our 13th year). https://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/77716 We have 84 days before the season starts. Since it is hard to track everyone down in the offseason, I just wanted to verify everyone is still wanting to participate this year. Here are the 10 current teams: Fields of Dreams MotM Nips&Tips Nopper PapaBear Run dem pockets SAVAGEw/LOOSEMORALS! (Champ) The Bunny The Mad Lithuanians Victorious Secret If I can get confirmation by August 1st, that would be great. That way it gives us a month to find any new GMs. Keepers: Up to 2 Keepers, 1st one loses 1 round (5th round pick in 2021 = loss of 4th rounder in 2022), and 2nd keeper loses two rounds (8th Rounder = 6th rounder). You can't keep the same player two years in a row, and they had to be drafted by you and on your final roster: Final Roster: https://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/77716/lastseason 2021 Draft: https://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/2021/f1/119614/draftresults?pspid=782203783&activity=draftresults League Changes: 1. $75 buy-in with payouts: $440 / $200 / $75 / $35 (LeagueSafe will open up after all GMs are confirmed) 2. Added 2nd IR spot 3. Changed W/R flex to W/R/T flex

Yeah, it's funny how more and more players are "not wanting to play for a rebuilding team". Every year half of the league is rebuilding lol.
-
Yeah that was one of Pace's biggest flaws. Smartest guy in the room syndrome and not admitting mistakes.
-
I hope they can at least get a 4th for him. Right now they would gain $12.9M on a trade as he has the highest cap hit on the team. They would eat $4.24 in Dead Cap. Here are teams with over $18M left in their 2022 cap: Browns, Panthers, Raiders, Cowboys, Steelers, Commanders. They would have more than enough to sign one of the top remaining OL, which would be a great swap of salary.
-
Hasn't tweeted since 2018, so who knows. Good find though.
-
RG seems like the biggest need on the team. Dozier was terrible last year and Mustipher seems too weak for that position (I could be wrong). They drafted so many OLs, hopefully one or two stick as at least depth. Braxton Jones getting first team reps is interesting.
-
Interesting move, they must like some of the younger Edge/DEs. They freed up even more cap space by releasing Attacochu. Pennel was signed by the Bears a few years ago, but never made the team. Seems like just another body for the D-Line.
