  1. I was thinking about draft order for the upcoming draft and realized we will end up in the dead zone again (14-20) unless we have a complete turnaround and run the table. Over the past 7 years, 6 teams have had only 1 selection in the first 16 picks: 01 - Andrew Luck - IND 10 - Jerod Mayo - NE 12 - Haolti Ngata - BAL 14 - Chris Williams - CHI 15 - Lawrence Timmons - PIT 15 - Jason Pierre Paul - NYG First, what seems pretty interesting is the fact that these teams represent 5 SuperBowl winners and 5 losers, totaling 10 Super Bowl appearances in the last 7 years. Now this would make sense because good teams pick in the 2nd half of the round, but I was surprised at the sustained success of all these teams compared to teams like STL and BUF who have picked 7 times in the last 7 years in the top half of the draft. Looking at the names above, every team drafted an impact player except for the Bears. Now take that out to 10 years for the same teams: 04 - Phillip Rivers - NYG 04 - Cedric Benson - CHI 10 - Terrell Suggs - BAL 11 - Ben Roethlisberger - PIT 13 - Ty Warren - NE 14 - Tommie Harris - CHI 16 - Troy Polamalu - PIT The Bears again tanked compared to the selections other than NE. The Giants turned Rivers into Manning, while Suggs, Roethlisberger, and Polamalu all have been franchise players since being drafted. I know the Bear's top picks have always been scrutinized, but it is hard to defend our picks when other teams have had success year in and year out without having good picks as well.
  2. So much for Lovie's first pledge, "Beat GB", how is that working out for you Lovie? I believe we are something like 8-10 against GB under Lovie (2-8 against Rodgers). I almost want to make this Lovie's legacy game. A win puts us in the driver's seat for at least a playoff spot, and keeps the Division Title alive. A loss considerably hurts our playoff chances, and I don't know if we recover with the other hot teams coming up behind us. To me, going 7-1 and not making the playoffs would be one of the biggest collapses in NFL history, and no coach should be given a free pass, especially considering Lovie got one last year.
  3. Yeah, that was crazy. 20 victims from 5-10 years old? I can't even imagine, I have 4 kids from 9-13. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends.
  4. So you like Jake Long now? It seemed like you hated him a few weeks ago: and in the other thread you said you would rather have the Bears sign him: I'm confused, so you don't want the Bears to throw money at him, but you want them to sign him? Now back to your topic, getting one from each group would be huge. If we could get 2, and at least draft another in the first few rounds we would be looking at almost a complete line overhaul in one offseason (which should've been done this last offseason).
  5. I agree, we started the last 2 seasons 14-4 to end them 2-9 so far. Every team has injuries, at some point someone has to be accountable. JA is gone, so now it is all Lovie and Co.
  6. If we win, we make the playoffs, if we lose, we don't.

    Gould IR'd

With all the other injuries, I guess it was not worth the roster spot.

Leg injury and kicker, and you are assuming we are making the postseason.
  9. 7-1 to possibly not making the playoffs. This is sad. We need to win at least 2 games out of the next 3.
  10. To me there just seems like there is always a LB or two in the line on every running play. We don't really do a good job of blocking the 2nd level (or 1st level for that matter). Our RB's have to be hit behind the line of scrimmage more than any other team in the league. We need to keep the defense spread out more so they can't put 7-8 in the box on every play.
  11. Team should be re-energized with the Offensive Leader back.
  12. 1. Wright 43-390, 4 TD (20th) 2. Blackmon 33-486, 2 TD (5th) 3. Hilton 30-455, 4 TD (92nd), KR/PR 4. Gordon 24-470, 4 TD (2nd Rd Supp) 5. Broyles 21-307, 2 TD (54th) 6. Streater 21-233, 2 TD (198th) 7. Floyd 20-225, 1 TD (13th) 9. Givens 17-352, 2 TD (96th), KR 9. Graham 17-125, 1 TD (69th) 10. Hill 16-212, 3 TD (43rd) 11. Jeffery 16-199, 2 TD (45th) 12. Randle 11-158, 0 TD (63rd), PR 13. Sanu 11-125, 2 TD (83rd) 14. Johnson 10-177, 0 TD (UDFA), PR 15. Quick 7-135, 1 TD (33rd) Jeffery was the 5th WR taken, and is currently 11th in Receptions, 10th in Yards, and tied for 5th in TDs. I know injuries are the main reason behind his numbers, but overall I find this class of WR's somewhat lackluster. Not a single WR will have over 800 yards, or 7 TD's (based on averages) on the season. I know Blackmon just had a monster game, but that makes his season numbers look worse because he had done almost nothing until that game. I remember leading up to the draft, someone mentioning Hilton as a prospective pick. Looks pretty good now. Especially because he is also doing KR and PR duties as well.
  13. If we cannot beat Minnesota without Harvin, we are not going to make the playoffs.
  14. Playing a Division opponent, at home, after 2 straight losses. I would say that this is a must win. We really need to finish 4-2 to guarantee a playoff spot. TB, SEA, MIN, and NO are all right there for the Wild Card spots if we lose this one.
  15. Still don't know how he is still in there. He was just as bad as Creamy.
  16. Its about heart and passion too. Just look at Marshall, Urlacher, Briggs, and Tillman during the game. They were pissed. I can't see them not coming out strong against Minnesota. The Houston game was mainly the weather, SF was different, we got our asses handed to us.
  17. If available, I would pay for any of the following: Clady, Albert, or Long. Then draft O-Line in one of the first 2 rounds. they would never use the entire draft on O-Line, even though I wouldn't mind it.
  18. Surprised it took this long, he has been one of the worst players on the line. Hopefully Scott does better.
  19. We really need a slump buster this weekend. Bears 24-13 Jay cleared for limited practice yesterday: http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/...leared-practice
  20. It seems like most of the team quick during the SF game.
  21. He likes to scramble? It looks like he is scrambling out of a need. The pocket collapses and he runs out. The last concussion wasn't directly related to OLine play, but it contributed to it. Also, we don't need a Top 20 OT, I would take a reliable starter at this point.
  22. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,3093433.story Damn, can't stay on the field. Hopefully this is not a chronic thing or he will be a bust.
  23. Two straight embarassing losses. Can we just get one decent game from the offense without the defense having to dominate to win? I would also fire whoever is making the play calls. A 10 year old playing Tecmo Bowl can design a better game plan (which only had 8 plays).
  24. I like how Marshall plays with passion. He looked pissed that they were losing, and Forte was laughing and joking. He ran some nice routes, but Campbell was too shell shocked to do anything.
  25. It almost seems like they are worse than last year, which is almost impossible.
