I love the buy-in. From the interviews, you can really see that there is a difference. Compared to the other younger Offensive-minded HCs, McVay is probably the only one I would take over Johnson. Shanahan always chokes, LaFleur is solid but I feel like he has already peaked, and McDaniel gives me young Trestman vibes.

and Caleb had 1,500 Passing Yards, 9 TD, 0 INT, in 6 Division games.

Some crazy stats from Sunday Night: - The Bears had 83 offensive plays (10 possessions), compared to the Bills 42 (9 possessions) - EPA/Play - Bears were at 0.369 while the Bills were -0.471, and that includes the kneel downs at the end. - First Downs - 30 - 12 - Passing First Downs - 18 - 5

Burden playing against CB3 or CB4s is gonna be crazy.

Yeah, the media circus finally picked up on it. The ball was coming out quick and he was decisive. It doesn't matter if the defense has the best pass rushers, they aren't getting there in 2 seconds unless unblocked.

Sunday the 31st works good for me since I would not have to worry about missing it because work goes late. So unless there are any objections, I will set the 31st at 7pm Central for our draft on Wednesday (20th). If you have a conflict, and need a different date/time, please let me know before Wed.

Ok, I have been tempering my excitement and it is only the preseason but I always felt that there are things you can take away from the preseason even if it is not game outcome related. The operation as a whole looks crisper, tighter, and it feels like everyone understands what is going on. Communication looked good, no delay of game penalties or wasted time outs. The buy in is real. Burdens blocks at the goal line were impressive. If the players have confidence and trust the process, there is another level that can be achieved, something we haven't seen since the Lovie era. Now this might not equate to wins right away but I feel like once they get on a roll I don't see them getting blown out. They will be in every game.

I will have to look at snap counts but not all Bears starters played (Thuney, Swift, Johnson, Gordon), plus the Bears started their 4th string RB, so it want completely mismatched compared to the Bills. Also, it was weird to see Mitch come in for clean up duty as the 3rd string QB. I kind of felt sorry for him tbh. With the way rotations work on the DLine, non starters get a lot of snaps anyway. The next game will be the biggest disparity in play as most teams won't risk injury that close to the regular season.

Jahns mentioned that Doyle called plays for the offense and Harris called them for the defense in the 2nd half. That is impressive because there wasnt a drop off or any string of pre snap or penalties. Also, OZ basically gives the Bears 4x starting WRs. If you add Loveland to a 5 wide package, 3 of those guys are a straight up mismatch on every play.

Crap, Terrell Smith is hurt.

It happened again, this time the 32. How is that even possible when they are lining up at the 40? The returner ran 30 yds to their 8?
-
Booker with another sack on a stunt.
-
Coverage unit is terrible. How does the returner who catches the ball at the goal line get past the 25 before he is even touched?
-
Not much more you can ask from Caleb. He got Buffalo to jump to make it a manageable 3rs down then throws a solid ball to Odunze (away from defender) who drops it. Special Teams is still concerning, bad kickoff return by Scott and now Taylor sails the punt for a touchback. I don't know why he is not angling it to the pylons.
-
Wow that was about of an impressive drive as you could have expected. Dumb play by Scott on the kickoff but the offense looked really crisp. Then the defense smothers the Bills to force a 4th and 19.

Looks like Jaylon Johnson was spotted pregame doing some light work. That is a great sign for Week 1 availability. Kmet also working out, so he more than likely won't play in the game.

Yeah, right now I was looking at the night of the 31st (SUN), 1st (MON), 2nd (TUE), to see what works best for the most GMs. Once we get a majority, I will lock in that date, probably around 7pm CST.
-
Thanks, I sent the invite to Scott.

Yeah, people do not give Williams enough credit for what he pulled off last year under those conditions. 3 losses were directly related to late-game coaching blunders. Besides the HC stuff, Williams had to deal with Waldron and then Brown as the OC/Playcaller. The other piece is play design. Waldron didn't scheme guys open. I still think 7 wins is the absolute floor with this O-Line, even if the LT situation is not rock solid yet. WR Corps is better, TE Corps is better, RB Corps looks better with Monangai, DTs are better, LBs look improved due to position swap, and the secondary was always a strength when healthy.

I think they have a snap count in mind, I heard someone mentioned 20-24 snaps, so we will see. A full half is probably the max.
-
We are danger close to the start of the season and still in need of 1x new GM. If we don't get one, the only option is to reduce the number of teams. That would slightly alter the payouts and playoff structure. Once we have that locked in, we can set a date/time for the draft a few days prior to the kickoff game.

Great breakdown @BearFan PHX Braxton looked terrible in his last few snaps. He was either tired or didn't care, either way, that was concerning to see. My biggest concern for him is when he loses a rep, he really loses it like 100-0, and the QB gets killed. Trapilo may lose a rep, but he doesn't leave a direct path to the QB.
-
The Dolphins played their starters, so at least 1/2 the game was 1st vs 2nd string, then 2nd vs 3rd string. Then at the end, our bottom guys were getting a ton of snaps. Booker, Sewell, and Monangai were my game balls. I am most concerned about special teams because technically, that group should've had all the main players playing, and the coverage and return units were terrible. At least they have a month to get that fixed. Braxton looks cooked. I keep seeing the video of the TD where he was playing matador with the DE, but there were 2 plays before that on the same drive where his guy got pressure and flushed Bagent out.
