  1. Ouch. At least now we can get the RB who torched us (Rhodes). The 2 INTs and fumble by Grossman didn't help either.
  2. So if we draft Woodson in the 6th, that makes the draft a success?
  3. Fluke, one shot wonder? 2001 would be a better year to call a fluke. We were 5-11 in 2000 and 4-12 in 2002. In 2005 we won the Division, then in 2006 we won the NFC. How is that a fluke? That seems like progress to me. Then in 2007 we take a step back like so many other teams have done after losing the Super Bowl. The good thing is most teams rebound the following year, which we should as well. Actually the ultimate goal is to win the SB, but teams are built to make the playoffs. It is a new season at that point. The Giants barely made the playoffs, yet they won the SB.
  4. Probably a really good idea. He would also be able to adapt to the NFL and get to know the playbook.
  5. Getting to the SB is meaningless? Well, you can't win one unless you get there, so that is a pretty odd statement.
  6. The one problem I see about changing draft picks, is from that point on, there is a chance that almost every other pick would change as well. So you cannot even determine what the team would look like if we grabbed McNabb or Palmer. Also, if we gave away future draft picks, then did not play well those following years, we would not even be able to use the high draft picks to rebuild. That reminds me of what SF did. They trade away their 1st to New England to move into the 28th slot of the 1st Round in 2007. Then they have a bad year and Joe Staley could've been Sedrick Ellis.
  7. I think your years are messed up. We had #26 in 2006 and traded to the 2nd round, and this draft was 2008.
  8. There is not that much difference between Clady and Williams that would warrant trading up. It is a crapshoot. So you are going to take a risk on a gamble? The drop off was from Long to Clady, Williams, Otah. Those 3 are almost interchangeable at this point.
  9. Wow, comparisons to Marcus Allen.
  10. No prob. Just a little joke to start the day.
  11. Nice summary Ashkum. I would say that AP's best value is as a component of the Special Teams unit, especially with the loss of Ayanbadejo. AP is now even more critical to that unit. That is why, more than likely, he will not be the one given the ax. Wolfe seems to be the odd man out.
  12. There is no way a UDFA QB is going to be better than a QB drafted in the 4th round.
  13. The first play of this one reminds me of Barry Sanders disappearing act (17 second mark):
  14. Actually most have him in the Top 10: Some more: http://www.draftking.com/nfl/2009/mockdraft.shtml http://walterfootball.com/draft2009.php
  15. I believe everyone who talked about missing out after Brohm and Henne are correct. However, once we missed them, there was no point in taking another QB just to draft one. So the issue is not really not drafting ANY QB, it is more about why we didn't draft the corps group of QB's that had the potential to be our starting QB (Ryan, Flacco, Brohm, Henne).
  16. Him and Forte would be a pretty nice duo. I wish they could just cut Benson due to medical reasons and save the cap hit.

    Urlacher

Who knows what is going on with Urlacher, you never know, but I doubt it. There was speculation that Urlacher's agent requested a new contract or a trade, but again it was just speculation.
  18. When did I condemn Benson about his play? I thought Benson would've been much better if he wasn't getting hit behind the LoS. I just said he was more of a question mark now with a plate in his ankle compared to a healthy Grossman or Orton with a good O-Line. That would make it easier to draft an RB before QB. Now the baffling part is that we did not draft a QB at all. That speaks volumes. We draft OT, RB, WR, DT, S, CB, TE, DE, but not QB? I agree about Brohm/Charles over Forte/Bennett, but it depends on how each of those were rated on their board (which we will never know). However, if Brohm was rated higher than Forte, with the needs being equal, there is no way they go with Forte over Brohm. That tells me that Brohm or Henne were not that highly rated or may not have even been on the Bears board.

    Quarterback

    Walter Football lists 5 possible Qb's within the 1st 2 rounds: http://walterfootball.com/draft2009QB.php
  20. Holy cow, that looks like Millen's draft pattern. Almost all WRs. Randy Moss, Chad Johnson, Reche Caldwell, Randel El, Ashley Lelie, Mike Williams, Sinorice Moss, Chad Jackson, and Dwayne Jarrett.
  21. One thing to consider is the Line play had a lot to do with the regression of Grossman. He has shown that when he is on, he can be a pretty good QB, and when he is off he can be brutal. The Bears must feel like a healthy Grossman and Orton has more upside than a Benson with a plate in his ankle. That is why they had to address RB after OT.
  22. Harrison. Williams and Forte are pretty obvious.

    Great Draft

I should've added the disclaimer "besides Bears 88".
  24. I only had 6 correct picks and 25 correct 1st round picks. If we did it by team I would've had more with Jones going to Dallas.
