  1. outside of the one superbowl...lets also not forget how underperforming that team was in the playoffs for years....
  2. if we can get rashad johnson/moore with our 99 and then Iglesias or Louis Murphy with the 4th pick in the 4th round...i'll be really happy
  3. we certainly don't have the ammo to do it, but the rams said their #2 overall pick could could be had for the right price...im dreaming over even the thought of somehow pulling some miraculous deal where we did and got crabtree...back to reality though
  4. i saw jeff dickerson at the place espn radio was doing their show tonight.... i talked to him about what the bears could potentially do in the draft....heres what he had to say DE: bears want to get a DE...anderson, ogunleye and idonije are all FAs at end of this year...i asked him about michael johnson out of Ga tech because I really like him....JD said he likes him too, thinks hes a good fit, but he asked bears people about him recently and the bears supposedly do not like him...not sure why, but they dont like him at all I asked him about Delmas potentially in the second round and he said they will draft a safety, but maybe not in 2nd round. He said bears like Bullocks, at least for depth. JD said as of 2 days ago bears were for sure looking at tackle and he sounded like he thinks they will still look at a tackle or O line help at some point in this draft even though they have shaffer and pace. From the sound of it, he thinks the draft could be heavy on defense, but the second round pick could be either OT or WR....didn't have time to ask about specific WR, but he thinks we will also draft a WR, potentially in teh second also he thinks the bears see LB as a place they need to fill and will draft a LB as well...
  5. haha frankly..i dont regret it ...i was so pissed that team should have beaten MTSU and should have handled kentucky (hell we took florida to 2 OT in the swamp)...either way I got to see my bowl game this year
  6. urlacher was just on waddle and silvy and sounded pretty excited about this...i wouldnt worry about him at all
  7. true story.....my junior year at vandy, we started 4-0 and had bowl game aspirations. week 5 we lost a heartbreaker to Middle tennessee state, then lost our next 4 (LSU, georgia, south carolina, and florida, so that was understandable) ....then a 2 win kentucky team comes in to town and we need a win to move towards bowl eligibility....a brutal first half and we find ourselves down 34-10 at halftime.....in frustration i run down to the tunnel and boo cutler off the field and yell "we want nickson (who was the backup at the time)", he looked up at me and just shook his head....that was the last time i saw jay cutler on a football field, as i left the game....What does he do? Comes out in the second half and throws for 261 yards and 5 TDs all of them to earl Bennett. We still lost, but i can tell you this....If Cutler throws 5 TDs in one half to bennett again...i sure as hell won't miss it this time
  8. yeah the deep throw to marshall is something else....on the flip side, the TD to scheffler should never have been thrown...hopefully he doesn't take those risks often, even if it did work out
  9. I'll bet we go almost all defense in this draft, which is fine with me because angelo has a much better track record drafting defensively, and frankly right now i think our biggest hole is at FS (we may have even worse depth there than at WR). Also if a guy who has the ceiling of being an elite pass rusher is there (ie Michael Johnson) in the second round, thats where I go as well. With the exception of Robiskie (who i think will be gone early 2nd anyways) I dont really see a reciever that will play right away. WRs frequently take a development year. Andy Reid says its the one position that almost always takes a year or two for the guy to make an impact after drafting (which is why he was shocked with Jackson this year). I personally think some of that has to do with WR beign the one spot that GMs tend to ignore wonderlic scores, but also it just takes some guys a while to learn how to run crisp, nfl calibur routes
  10. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4037373 espn says its Orton 2 firsts and a third for Cutler and a 5th we have 1 3rd this year (at the end of it) and 2 fifths
  11. if they sign holt....i want a DE or safety in the second
  12. we gave up a shit load...but cutler has arguably the best tools of any qb in the league I lvoe this overall though...even i blasted cutler for the 3 years i watched him play in college...the guy is legit
  13. i said id probably go with one of the QBs...but the biggest hole in our D last year IMO was our ability (or lack thereof) to get to the passer (for next year its probably our safties, but theres no safety i would trade an entire draft for)...Ware and Williams are both young guys who should have 15+ sacks for the forseeable future and are constantly disrupting in the backfield, and haynesworth is the most dominant defensive player in the league, one who can pressure the passer from the interior....if you ask me the addition of any one of those guys to our D helps our defense in so many ways
  14. hard to choose one...i would have to think about it longer, but it would likely come from the following group of players....p.manning, brady, mario williams, demarcus ware, haynesworth, joe thomas, adrian peterson....likely one of the two qbs but both come with declining age/health issues
  15. i agree...i'd love for them to use the cap space and sign someone to start (even if its st claire) then trade down in the draft to the last few picks of the first round (picking up a late second rounder) and landing the trio of a WR (Bey, Nicks or Robiskie), a DE (Michael Johnson maybe...i know alot of people don't like him, but he fits our scheme perfectly and oozes potential) and a S (Lewis Delmas) i know most people don't want to trade down, but I think alot of the value will be gone at 18 (4 OTs should be gone, Maclin and Crabtree, the two QBs). After that, I'm not sold on Harvin, and I think alot of the other guys we would target will be there later.
  16. thought Sean smith looked good...I really didnt know anything about him before the combine and remember him specifically as being a guy I wanted to look into because he impressed me....didnt think Alphonso was as good as he was projected to be, but wasn't as bad some of the guys... NFL Network replays this stuff all day too, so you can check it out later tonight
  17. I agree that those 3 positions are huge needs...DE IMO is a huge need though...i thought our drop off in D last year was a direct result of not being able to rush the passer....as nice of a player as Alex Brown has become vs. the run, he simply doesn't get to the QB anymore, and Ogun was terrible last year and his contract is up after this year...you are probably right though, I think at DE we have the most adequate veterans of those 4 positions, but the front 4 is just so important in our scheme you really need to have at least one well above average pass rusher
  18. thats not at all how i see it...Williams coming out was a LT all the way...He's a finesse pass protector on the QBs blind side...only gave up 1 sack in 2 years playing in the SEC (I believe it may have been to lamar woodley at michigan as well), while he was not seen as much of a run blocker and needed to add strength...Oher supposedly has trouble with footwork but once locked on apparently is a force driving opponents back...To me those skill sets say Williams LT, Oher RT
  19. DBs are the combine were pretty underwhelming IMO...Delmas looked like the best safety for sure, Jenkins looked pretty bad...If he is gonna play corner its gonna be in a cover 2 scheme, but i think most teams will agree after his workout that hes a FS...id love for him to fall to us and for us to draft him as a safety....I went to vandy, so im usually biased, but I dont see at all how DJ Moore will be a first round pick, despite everyone projecting him there...Hes tiny and ran a very pedestrian to bad 4.55....I thought the kid from UConn stood out as well
  20. oh just for the record those were unofficial times and they were just from the first time the guys ran...they will run at least 1 more time i believe
  21. just looking at some 40 times for WR...knowing the bears love em good 40s... Harvin ran a 4.37 Maclin came in a bit slower than I thought he would at 4.40, but still very respectable Heyward Bey ran a 4.32..pretty impressive Nicks ran a 4.49 Robiskie 4.51 Johnny Knox out of Abiliene Christian (D. mannings alma Mater) ran a 4.25....Chris Johnson 4.27 last year shot him up, this kid should be a big riser
  22. our D definitely has some holes...pass rushing DE, Sam LB, and S...right now the safety position worries me the most...at least we have other guys who can adequately play those other positions, but our safety depth not only looks dire, but it is a fairly weak crop of safeties in the draft as well (not much top end talent, not much depth) I dont really like payne at SS, but i suppose we can live with him there...FS is a big time hole IMO, especially if Payne is playing strong...steltz isn't the answer and mcgowan if healthy is more of a SS too...i'm really worried about who will play FS for this team
  23. alot of people are saying malcolm jenkins is falling due to the fact that teams think he may be a safety...given the lack of safety depth in the draft and the fact that virtually nobody on this roster can play free, jenkins might be a perfect fit if he manages to somehow fall to 18... Oher would be nice...he is considered a road grading tackle and should fit into our system well Aaron Maybin would fit the pass rushing DE need, but he will likely be gone as well, and may be a better fit as 3-4 rush LB I really wish we were picking about 4 spots higher...at 18 it seems like you are falling into the second tier of players at positions like OT, DE and WR and at about 14 i think we could still get a top guy at one of those spots BTW I believe Williams did only 21 reps...frankly i dont think it means a whole lot...i know guys lift a ton in college, but if a guy isn't as strong right now as youd hope, it could mean he has room to add bulk when they get into a professional lifting program
