Bevell as well. I just think that offense fits our personnel better than a lot of deep passing. We don't have any burners at receiver. Now if they shocked the world and spent money on Mike Wallace, perhaps I would change my mind.

Arians offense gets his quarterbacks killed. Andrew Luck #2 this year in QB hits and #9 in sacks. Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense were always in the top 10 in sacks given up while he was the coordinator. He likes vertical passing and power running. I prefer a WCO and a zone based running game.

The thing I like about Bevell is that he worked with Brett Favre and had a lot of success in Minnesota when he was the coordinator. Cutler is very Favre-esque in a lot of ways.

I'm kind of warming up to Bevell. He's only 43 and has shown the ability to adapt with his quarterback. Sounds like Trestman is the favorite though.

Supposedly Ian Rapoport was on NFL Network earlier today and said that he was hearing from sources inside the Bears that Darrell Bevell and Marc Trestman are at least 2 of the 3 possible finalists that have NOT been ruled out.

I'm ready for this whole thing to be over already. Get your 2nd round of interviews in and lets name a coach already. I hope this thing doesn't drag on past this Thursday/Friday.

There is also rumors swirling around that Dennison's interview didn't go so well. It only went for 2 hours. Here are some quotes.

McCoy seems like he has faded as a top candidate with the Bears now. He's already been contacted by teams that want a second interview. Nothing from the Bears yet. Seems like he's Arizona bound, and Trestman, Arians, and or Dennison could be in the mix for the job. Check that.. Trestman might be out of it too. Brad Biggs retweeted a reporter that claims Trestman was interviewing with the Raiders for their OC job. Must not be too confident about getting the Bears gig. Not sure why he'd be interviewing for other positions.

The Eiffert kid would look pretty good in a Bears uniform.

If Cutler ever wins a Superbowl all that will go away. That's just the nature of the business. Eli Manning was heavily scrutinized for having poor body language for years until he won a ring. Where's that all now? Cutler is made to be an easier target because of his inconsistent play, combined with his hot headed antics, and the lack of playoff success. That's a bad combination.

Who? I don't see any young quarterbacks on this roster that can beat defenses with their arms and feet. Cutler isn't young. He's not going to play forever. Sooner or later you need to find the next guy, even if he's going to sit on the bench for a couple years before he gets the opportunity. For all we know Cutler might not even be here next season or the season beyond with a new coach in place and an expiring contract. The clock is ticking on his future.

I'd rather have a quarterback that can do both, throwing and running, if possible.

Watching Kaepernick, Wilson, and RGIII makes me really wish the Bears could develop a young quarterback that has the speed and athleticism to do some of the things they do.

I still wish Greg Roman would have gotten a look from Emery. He was right there with McCoy as one of my favorites going into this process.

Yep. That's when they would go into the deep cover 2 shell and give up big chunks of yardage whenever it was getting close to the end of a game or half. Can't say I'm going to miss that.

I think Arians would be the easiest sell. Trestman would be the toughest, and McCoy seems to be the most popular with the fan-base. I say it's going to be neither of them. I'm going with Mike Sullivan because I think Emery will pick someone that none of us are talking about.

I think it's going to be Sullivan. Trestman is the cerebral guy that meshes well with Emery, but does he have the upbeat, energetic personality he wants? I've watched a few Mike Sullivan press conferences and he seems like a pretty positive person. McCoy is exactly the type of personality that would seem to be the perfect fit. I think just because he's my pick it won't happen. It'll be someone we haven't really talked about, which is why I think it's going to be Sullivan.. At least as of this moment. I see Arians going to San Diego to work with his friend and Chuck Pagano's brother. His health and age are my main concerns. Not saying he would be a bad hire.

The difference between what happened to RGIII and Cutler is pretty big. First of all, RGIII came into the game with a partially torn LCL already, and a big heavy brace on his right leg. We knew he was hurt even before he got hurt again. Cutler was seemingly healthy until halftime when everyone saw him standing there on the bench riding a bike. Nobody saw the injury happen, which is why he doesn't get the sympathy that Griffin does. Griffin's injury was right there in front of us to witness. It looked bad. Secondly, Cutler is an easy target for the media. We all know what the perception is like with him. RGIII is the anti-Cutler in that respect, which means the perception around him is completely different. Do I think Cutler wishes he would have gone to greater lengths to stay in the game? Maybe. I could be completely wrong, but I feel like having gone through that experience, Cutler, in a way, regrets his decision not to go back out there, no matter how ineffective he would have been. Everytime you've seen him go down with something in the last two seasons, he's played through it. The broken thumb, the concussion, a bad neck and a hurt knee that occurred in the same game, bruised ribs etc.. I think all the bad press he got from that game plays a factor in his mind now with every injury he goes through during the rest of his career. If the same thing happened to him in 2013, under the same circumstances, I would find it hard to believe that he wouldn't do things a bit differently. That's just my two cents. Jay Cutler is as tough as they come.

Cowher isn't coaching, and even if he were, he'd want at least a share, if not all of the GM powers. Not happening.. I think he's waiting on one of the NY jobs to open up.

I'm pretty confident that Trestman will be part of the final 3 candidates, along with Sullivan and one of McCoy, Arians, and Dennison. I think one for sure has to be a coach still in the playoffs, otherwise this process should have already moved to it's final stage by now.

I don't think the search is over. Trestman may end up getting the job, but no way does Emery let the cat out of the bag already. I will say this though-- I know it's coming from Boers and Bernstein but Terry Boers said yesterday that his source was telling him Emery already had his coach picked out. Then this stuff about Trestman comes out today.. Coincidence? Maybe.

Marinelli is a Cover 2 guy. If he's back, I wouldn't expect him to run anything different than what he's been doing. The reason they ran more Cover 1, Single High looks this year was because of Urlacher's inability to cover the middle of the field as well as he's used to. If he comes back healthier or we draft someone like Ogletree who can defend his position with the best of them, we'll be in the cover 2 more often in my opinion. Either way, it's a credit to RM for being able to adjust the D a little to make it work.
