  1. If the mods want to change the thread title, feel free. It doesn't bother me at all. I can see there are still people on here that are up in arms about it. Frankly, the more this story drags on the worse it looks for Te'o. From the very beginning, he should have sat down in front of the press and answered every single question about this story until nobody had anymore questions to ask him. If he's 100% innocent, this should have been easy. There certainly shouldn't have been anything to hide. Instead, he hires a lawyer and gets coached up on what to say before he sits down and does these scheduled interviews. He hasn't done himself any favors. They have only made him look worse.
  2. I don't know what the exact number was, but I was surprised to hear McClellin had near the most total disruptions this season for the team despite missing games and his playing time being sporadic. Tells you that he made his snaps count. My question is whether or not he has it in him to become more than just a 3rd down pass rusher. As a 1st round pick, he better, or it was a failure.
  3. Some other team can have fun with that. Don't want lineman with back injuries, and I certainly don't want expensive lineman with a back injury.
  4. My only point being is that everybody always says we don't have the personnel to run a true 3-4, but in reality, no base 4-3 defense has perfect personnel to run it either, otherwise they'd already be doing it. It applies to almost every team. It doesn't have to be a zero sum situation either. Meaning, making a switch = wasted season. The Bears could switch to a 3-4 today and be successful after one off-season. The problem is more about being able to sustain success as a 3-4. GB lost a few key players to their defense after the Superbowl season that they haven't been able to replace. It is hard to consistently draft the right players for that defense.
  5. Name me teams in the past that have had the personnel in place already to move to a 3-4 defense before they actually make the change.
  6. I could understand if they didn't want to mess with the defense this year. But moving forward 2-3 years from now, I hate the idea of us having to stay with the same (or mostly the same) system that Lovie Smith ran here as a coach. A new coach shouldn't have to worry about hurting the feelings of some of the vets on defense because they all had an appreciation for Lovie. Most of the star defensive players on this team are all on the wrong side of 30, and the arrow is not pointing up, it's going down. If they want to keep a similar system for a year, I'm okay with it. But they should not be wasting away a potential move to another defense because of these older guys. They can adjust or GTFO.
  7. Why were the Packers, Patriots, and other teams scouting McClellin as a 3-4 OLB then?
  8. Lol. You buy into that crap? It's a shame that people are so easily convinced that this guy did no wrong. He's a flat out liar. He admitted to lying multiple times, even after the fact that he supposedly found out that his fake dead girlfriend wasn't dead. Hell, he was already dating a real girl soon after this fake girl's supposed death. I thought she was the "Love of his Life??" When asked about why he didn't visit his girlfriend while she was sick and battling cancer, he said "I don't know.. I guess I never thought about it.. I was in school." LMAO. What a great boyfriend he was huh? Any reasonable person would continue to follow this story with skepticism, and not rule out anything. I believe that he may have been duped in the beginning, but later played a big part in keeping the story alive once he and his team started to get more notoriety. I am also definitely not ruling out the possibility that he was aware of this scam from the beginning. It's funny that he did this interview on a Friday night, OFF-Camera. This is Damage Control/PR 101. Do it on a Friday night so it gets lost over the weekend, and hope the story just goes away. Where is Tuissasopo in this? We haven't heard from HIM. He has said nothing yet; Only claims that have been made by a supposed friend and Te'o himself, who again, has already admitted to lying more than once. Even if he were to admit to this scam, and say Teo' played no part in it, I would still ponder the question as to whether someone gave him a pretty hefty sum of cash to make this story go away. If Te'o was completely and 100% innocent, he would not need a lawyer, because there is nothing to protect him from, right? I honestly can't believe people are just ready to give him the benefit of the doubt.
  9. I don't know if the Packers line is better or worse than the Bears, but I do know they are not good, and they not been very good for most of Rodger's career.
  10. Bears fan's might not like this, but Aaron Rodgers is well on his way to blowing away everybody with the numbers he's putting up. He already holds the highest career QB rating. If he can maintain this level of play for most of his career, he will be in a class of his own. Montana is the greatest postseason QB of all time. Brady and Manning have been more prolific, in terms of their all around success, statistically speaking. Brady- Career 96.6 RTG, 63.7 %, 2.1 INT % Manning- Career 95.7 RTG, 65.2%, 2.7 INT % Montana- Career 92.3 RTG, 63.2%, 2.6 INT%
  11. Warmack, Ogletree, Eiffert are my personal favorites as choices the Bears might have at 20.
  12. I prefer a NE/SF Superbowl for the excitement factor but a Harbaugh bowl would be pretty funny.
  13. I give Bradley 1.5 years before he's canned.

Interesting that he has experience with the 3-4 and 4-3. Versatility is always good. Would love to see it used during games.
  16. If it somehow turns out that he had nothing to do with it, he is one of the most gullible human beings ever. This is something that went on for 3 years! A lot of questions remain. Doesn't explain why Te'o said that the two of them were soul mates and connected eye-to-eye, implying that they had met before. This, among many other things that he had said. This story is not over.
  17. Whisenhunt was the OC, just like Arians, when the Steelers won Superbowls. Grimm might be treading towards Mike Tice territory, but Arians and Whisenhunt could have made for a great offensive staff. Kromer is one of, if not the best, OL coaches around, which is why I think Phil went with Trestman. I have no problem with that.

Can we stop pretending Singletary played dual roles as HC/GM? He was there while they drafted some of these players, but that does not mean he was responsible for making the selection. Just because a HC might have input doesn't mean he's the one that makes the decision. We don't even know if he endorsed any of the actual picks or if the GM even asked for his opinion in the first place. I'm going to go out on a limb and say he probably didn't have much of anything to do with who they drafted, given how well their draft success has continued over the recent years. If anybody deserves credit, it's their General Manager. Singletary made an ass out of himself (literally) and the tough guy act didn't last long before the players realized that he was an idiot. The best thing the 49'ers did was to get rid of him. Clearly, they don't miss him.
  19. Hope the Bears go after Ray Horton now that he's leaving Arizona. He'd be a steal.

    Tice gone

Sounds like Hoke might be the DC then. Guess we'll see.
  21. This guy is crazy detailed.

Singletary was never a defensive coordinator, and he was only a head coach for one offseason. He didn't draft Navarro Bowman, and Navarro Bowman did not play like he does now until the season after Singletary was fired. He was a terrible head coach, and just because he played for the Bears doesn't mean anything to me. I could care less. I want good coaches, not crazed lunatics.

How did he basically draft Willis and Bowman? And how did he have anything to do with building that offensive line?
  24. That's only if you use read option. The Pistol has nothing to do with whether a quarterback gets hit or not. It's just a different formation. Not sure how much read option we would run here, if any, but you can run a variety of plays that aren't part of the read option package out of the pistol. Look at what the Buffalo Bills do, and the Lions, and Chiefs.
  25. Damn, if anyone was listening on the SCORE he mentioned the pistol offense and zone read concepts were apart of his offense in Montreal and may be introduced here. Music to my ears!
