I'll explain my top 3 Mine: 1- McCoy 2- Dennison 3- Trestman 4- Sullivan 5- Bevell 6- Arians 7- Carmichael 8- Clements 9- Toub 10- Decamillas The rest-- Hell no! Top 3: 1- McCoy Type of offense: Shotgun heavy passing attack/short-medium, mix of power running and zone running concepts + Adaptable + Gets the most out of a QB + Experience working with Peyton Manning + Young and hungry - Best year statistically as an offense is this season under Manning - Uncertainty over how much control he has over play calling 2- Dennison Type of offense: Run first, play action passing game. Not much shotgun. West coast style. + Experience working with Cutler, Marshall, and Bates in Denver + Offensive line guru + Knowledge of all areas of the game (ST coach, OL coach, OC, and was a defensive player during his career) + Zone blocking scheme - Uncertainty over who calls the plays in Houston - Offense relies on run game to be effective. Everything based off play action 3A- Trestman Type of offense: ? Not sure since he's been in Canada since 2008. I believe, based on the team's he coordinated for in the NFL, seems to be west coast savy. + Wealth of football knowledge and experience + Twice coordinated the #1 passing offense in NFL (49ers in 1995, Raiders in 2002) + Served as Offensive Coordinator during Jerry Rice's record-setting season of 1,848 yards and 15 TDs in 1995 + Coached NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 2002 (QB Rich Gannon) + Known as one of the most prolific quarterback teachers in the game today. Gets quarterbacks ready for the draft + Sean Payton hired him to be a consultant for his offense in New Orleans.. If Sean Payton hires you to be a consultant, you obviously know a hell of a lot about offense. - One of the older candidates (56) - Never spent more than 2 years at one job in the NFL - Spent last 5 seasons in the CFL - Maybe has a little Mike Martz in him? Can be known as a guy who's the smartest person in the room regardless of who's in the room - Low key, doesn't seem to be energetic 3B- Mike Sullivan: Type of offense: Power run, Deep passing attack. Aggressive style. + Developed Eli Manning into a Superbowl winner + Knows how to use receivers + Elevated Tampa Bay's offense to 11th in one season - Only one year of coordinating experience - Offensive style reminds me of what we've seen from the Bears in the past. Power run-deep throwing, which could lead to a ton of picks from Cutler. - Had Doug Martin as RB

Would anybody take a chance on Tyrann Mathieu from LSU? Would be insane if they were to also get Harvin from Minnesota and have the best PR/KR tandem in football.

I would also not be surprised if this was simply a ploy by Kelly to get a raise out of ND.

I'm glad they are interested in Kelly. He comes off to me like a guy who knows how to handle things. I'm not sure he's going to get the job, but why not interview the guy after what he's been able to do with Notre Dame in short order?

Out of the guys that are listed, this is just a pure guess, but what this feels like to me is that Phil has a couple of guys in mind already, and is waiting on at least one of them to be eliminated from the playoffs before he can interview them again. So he's just going to go ahead and keep interviewing random candidates as a way to kill time and collect more info on various teams. Adam Schefter mentioned that Emery has been telling all his candidates that he would like to have at least 2 guys at some point this week as finalists to continue the process, but Schefter also noted that there could be perhaps 1 or 2 guys in the playoffs that he would interview as finalists as well, which brings that number to 3 or 4. Based on the reports out there, we know Sullivan interviewed with the Bears for at least 6 hours in his visit earlier last week, and we now know that Marc Trestman had an 8 hour presentation to the Bears that, according to John Clayton, impressed. In my opinion, I believe that you should really look out for those two guys in the oncoming days to be named finalists for the job, and then I'd say at least 1 coach from the playoffs would get a look as well to top it off. 1. Sullivan 2. Trestman 3. McCoy/Dennison/Bevell That's my guess, in no particular order.

Is there a reason as to why his rehab is only going to be 6-8 months compared to a Derrick Rose, where it's 9-12 months? I don't understand how that's possible, especially with how its the second time RGIII has torn his ACL. Anyone?

Yeah but Trestman actually has a legitimate NFL resume, and was really really good at just about every he's been. My only concern with him is why has he been in the CFL so long and why has he never been able to stay at one place for more than 2 years at the NFL level.

This would be the ultimate meatball hire. I heard on the radio that Singletary was the one to call the Bears and ask for an interview, and whether it was George or whoever, told Emery he didn't have to do it if he didn't want to. It's pretty much nothing more than a dumb favor and a waste of time.

Aldon Smith is great, but he's not worth 7 extra wins. Fact of the matter is, once Harbaugh took over, he was able to get the most out of the talent he had on both sides of the ball, where Singletary didn't do anything but screw it up. He brought in his own offensive ideas and completely resurrected the career of Alex Smith, which help lead them to a 13-3 record in his first season. Singletary had no idea what he was doing.

Huh? Wouldn't that mean he was bad, given the talent he had to work with, and what happened immediately after he left? It wasn't until Harbaugh came along that Alex Smith started to "Get it", and it wasn't until Harbaugh came along until the defense started playing the way they should have been playing while Singletary was there. He was horrendous.

I don't have a problem with that. I just think it's a waste of time interviewing two guys who are not serious or legitimate candidates to win the head coaching position.

I was actually just thinking of that. He's so overrated. Jarvis Jones is 10 times better than Teo.

Okay, now we're starting to get out of control. Why would Emery even bother interviewing these worthless non-candidates? Mike Singletary would be the worst hire of all time.

Coaching 18-21 college kids is a bit different than telling a bunch of grown men, who do this for a living, how to play football, no? Trestman knows offense, but I would have to take caution, given the fact that he's never been able to hold an NFL job for more than 2 years, and has been in the CFL since 2008. That's all I'm really saying.

I think it's a lot easier to maintain control over CFL players than it is in the NFL. CFL players don't make a huge sum of money, and they don't carry as much weight or power as players in the NFL.

I've heard that Trestman is a very good X's and O's guy, but has been known to be abrasive at times to others on the coaching staff, to the point where he became an outcast about a year into his hiring from other places. When you look at the pattern of his career, he's never lasted more than 1-2 years before wearing out his welcome and moving on. I think there's a reason for why he's been in the CFL since 08.

That's exactly why I hate when people throw out statements such as the one above that I commented on. Everything is always worse when it's the team you are a fan of. We say things as if it can't possibly happen to anybody else in the entire league.

And you can't say that about anybody else? Really? Is Webb the only player in the NFL that has that happen to him? I think not. You better be watching every tackle in the NFL before you use that example as part of an argument.

I don't fault Shanahan for playing Griffin IF he was cleared to play by the doctors. If that wasn't the case, then he made a big mistake.

Looks like we could be interviewing Kyle Shanahan pretty soon here, if they're interested. Redskins are about to lose.

I could live with Arians, but my preference now is to get a young up and comer, so he can grow with the team and be here for the next, hopefully, 8-10 years. I like Arian's offense, but I just like McCoy and Shanahan a little more.

The Bears were the only team to get 4 hours with McCoy. Everybody else was 3.

He is our best defensive player by far. Julius Peppers doesn't ever get enough credit for what he allows the defense to do.

I don't remember anybody saying that 12 was the max he would go. I could be wrong, but I can't recall Emery saying that he wouldn't interview more than 12 candidates. I still think there is going to be at least 1 or two more coaches that get interviews that we haven't heard from yet. He wanted to interview Doug Marrone of Syracuse but Marrone is going to Buffalo. That's at least one college coach he had an eye on. This tweet from Adam Schefter has me worried a bit. Unless I'm reading too much into it, it seems as if that tweet was true, then the Mike McCoy, Bruce Arians, Rick Dennison, and Tom Clements interviews would be pointless. If they're going to bring in finalists THIS week, that means only teams that aren't currently in the playoffs will be able to do so. If I connect the dots a little more, Mike Sullivan's 6 hour interview could mean that he's going to get the job. Maybe Emery already knows this. I hope I'm wrong. I've wanted McCoy since the beginning of this process. I'll be damned if Emery panics and takes a guy before waiting for one of these teams to get knocked out of the playoffs. He's going to get the guy he wants. Nobody is going to go pick the San Diego Chargers, or the Eagles, or some other crap team over the Bears. If Emery wants McCoy, or one of these other guys, he's going to get them. There's no need to take a guy now because you're worried one of those other candidates will get hired elsewhere.

There isn't a player out there that could replace the impact Julius Peppers brings to the defense on each and every play, so why get rid of him? Maybe you can restructure his contract but releasing him would not be smart in my opinion.
