  1. The Vikings really must like taking in the castaways from the NFC North, don't they? Berrian, Aromashodu, Favre, Jennings, Webb.. Amy I missing anyone?
  2. You can dial it up however you want, but he did get penalized less, and give up less sacks per pass attempt in year 3 as a starter compared to the year's previous. It is an improvement, albeit nowhere near enough to justify him as a starter when you take other things into account. Folks don't seem to realize just how bad he was in years 1 and 2. Unfortunately, the options at LT were limited in those years because you had guys worse than Webb still on the roster, including Gabe Carimi, who I would argue was the worse pass blocking RT in all of football last season.
  3. The J.T Thomas cut really surprised me given how good he is on special teams. Would have taken him over Costanzo, as well as a couple of other guys.
  4. I don't remember what the PFF argument was even about. We all know that Webb is bad, but he did get better each year he was a starter. His mental makeup likely kept him from ever becoming a reliable starter. He was given an opportunity to win the starting RT position and he completely blew it. It was time for him to move on.
  5. The more I see him play in the NFL, the more I wonder how he was so successful at Florida with an arm that awful. Easily the worst throwing arm for a former starting quarterback this league has seen in a long time.. maybe ever.
  6. The Bengals have some nice weapons offensively, and their defense is usually pretty good. The Bears will win if they can control that defensive line and not get Cutler killed. Also, Cutler can't crap the bed if he has time in the pocket. I'm not that scared of the Bengals with our defense though. Tim Jennings and Charles Tillman are the two best starting CB's in the game. Dalton is prone to throw a pick or two in this game on the road. My early prognostication is Bears win 27-17
  7. Hurst, Fendi, Ahston, and Armando Allen should make the practice squad if they clear waivers.
  8. Read a tweet earlier today from a Bears media member that Trestman hinted at Marquess Wilson being ahead of Earl Bennett on the depth chart for the #3 position? We are officially out of the Lovie Smith era. What is a rookie receiver doing contributing in year 1 instead of being redshirted??
  9. I also don't agree with the Bears keeping possibly 4 TE's and a FB. With TE's as bad as they have, why clutter the roster with a bunch of scrubs?
  10. I don't get the Palmer cut. I don't agree with only having 2 QB's on the active roster. I think that's insane, just as I did last year.
  11. Palmer looks like a solid #2 right now. Although so did Josh McCown in the 4th pre-season game last year against the Browns.
  12. Jordan Palmer has looked really good so far. Impressive for only being with the team for 2 weeks. Also glad to see Joe Anderson making plays. He better make the team.
  13. This type of talk is usually code for a guy who's about to be released. I messed around with that idea before the start of the off-season, but now that the season is about to start, I'd be surprised if they would do it now. They might just be really comfortable with the progression of Marquess Wilson and Joe Anderson.
  14. Wtf is Marshall talking about? You can't: #1- be angry that you have been rushed and #2- be angry that you haven't been getting enough reps in pre-season. Now he doesn't know his role in the offense? Really, Brandon? Just shut up and catch the ball.
  15. His blocking must be phenomenal. I honestly haven't been paying that close attention to it, so I can't say for sure, but obviously it has to be pretty good if he's still on the team because his pass catching ability sure isn't.
  16. Haha, Fendi Onobun appears to have made the cut for this week. Not sure what the Bears see in him, and the fact that he's made the cut doesn't say much about the other TE's on this roster.
  17. I haven't paid that close attention to his blocking, but I've read that he still has a chance to make the roster if he continues to block well. He sure as hell can't catch.
  18. Webb was called for 2 penalties last night if I'm not mistaken. That kind of stuff can't happen if he's looking to stick on this roster. Mill's experience playing on a college team that was very pass-happy and uptempo is proving to be helpful right now. He's been able to hold his own in both run and pass in 2 starts during the pre-season. I still think we're going to see both Long and Mills struggle early on in the season once teams start throwing the kitchen sink at them, but we shall see. At least we know that the Bears have a competent offensive line coach who knows what he's doing now, compared to years previous.
  19. I was pleasantly surprised with how well Cutler managed the offense last night. He looked fantastic. His footwork has gotten better from the looks of it. I haven't seen one ball thrown off his back foot yet, which is a good sign. Still obviously has a long way to go because now I need to see the consistency. We know Jay is capable of looking like an All-Pro one game, and then looking like shit for the next 2. It's on both Trestman and Cutler to coach that part of his game out of him. One other side note that I really enjoyed from last night's game, and that was the effect this zone blocking scheme has had on Matt Forte, just as I have said it would for years now. He's the perfect RB for a ZBS because of his running style. He's been a beast so far. Let's hope it translates to the regular season now. I like what I'm seeing.
  20. Cornelius Washington is a freak of nature.
  21. I'm not sure he's actually made one positive play all pre-season. He's been called for penalties, dropped balls, and even forced a pick 6 thrown by Blanchard for giving up on the pass.
  22. Our backups are horrendous. Starters need to stay healthy or we're screwed. Pre-season games are to see how deep of a team you are, and right now, just judging off 2 and a half pre-season games so far, the Bears 2nd, 3rd, and 4th teams have not been good at all.
  23. Bennett and Marshall have both been awful tonight. Catch a ball, please. 5 drops between the two of them. I think 6 or 7 total for the game so far.
  24. It should be noted that the Raiders are hot garbage, but I am really liking what I've seen thus far from this Bears offense. If this is Trestman's vanilla stuff, I can't wait to see what he has in store for week 1.
  25. Heck of a play design on the Forte touchdown. Now THAT is what I was hoping to see tonight. Cutler is looking sharp early, which is a good sign.
