That looked like a touchdown. Check that... That WAS a touchdown.
-
Could be Melton's last game in a Bear's uniform. Hopefully it's not as serious as it looked.
-
This is where having a speed receiver would help in these situations.
-
The offense needs to run some screens to the RB and get something going. The Steelers are just sitting on all these short routes because we haven't done anything down the field.
-
Steelers have 335 yards of total offense right now. The Bears have 178...

Yep. Mike Peraira agrees with you.. as do I. Should be a 24-3 game. Walters' mental error cost the team 7 points. Offense started off so well, but then slowed way down in the 2nd quarter. The defense has been giving up huge plays, but they have also created a few themselves. The blitzing is both helping and hurting. Roethlisberger already has 142 yards on 9 completions. A lot of those on broken plays and a lack of pressure from the front 4. I'd like to see the offense get back to what they were doing before the 2nd quarter. Cutler was making efficient passes. Forte had a few nice runs and catches to move the chains. A stop by the defense, and a TD drive by the Bears offense to start this 3rd quarter would pretty much seal the game.

Got to love how the defense still creates those turnovers and turns them into TD's. Looked like the receiver had his head turned. Wright was there ready for it. Another blitz that creates the turnover.
-
Front four still generating no pressure whatsoever. Tucker might have to keep blitzing as long as it is working.
-
Unreal how the Bears got jipped out of 2 consecutive TD runs by Bush. freakin officials... Thank jesus they finally got credit on the 3rd attempt.

The monsters of the midway defense needs to be out in full force tonight. Get to the quarterback, and don't allow them to get any type of run game going. Should be a recipe for success. Offensively, I'd like to see them sustain some drives and win the battle of field position game early. If you keep Cutler comfortable early in the game, that should bode well for the rest of the game.

My initial thoughts when I heard the trade were, "Wtf is Cleveland thinking?" They give up Trent Richardson (a former #3 overall pick) for a 1st round draft pick that'll wind up somewhere in the high teens-early twenties in next years draft. However, I can see a win/win situation for both teams. The Browns now have the ammunition to pull off another mega deal for a player they covet in next year's draft (like Bridgewater), or worse case, they could end up using both those 1st rounders to immediately begin revamping their team to win next year and in the future.

I'm undecided on this game. My heart says Bears win by 10, my head says they lose a close one. I think it all comes down to whether or not the defensive line shows up for the Bears, and if Jay Cutler can limit his turnover tendencies vs an aggressive Steeler's defense that was originally designed to stop West coast offenses. So far, Cutler has proven to be resilient in the 4th quarter. We may need him to come up big again on the road against a desperate team who pretty much have to win this game if they want any shot at making the playoffs.

I agree with all of that. Maneri was open, but it was a throw that probably shouldn't have been risked given that he's throwing it right over the top of the D-Line, in a congested area, where guys can still get their hands up.

That had me cracking up.

I am enthralled.

I was not even aware of the McCown thing until it was brought up after the game was over, so I have no idea why you are pairing my comments to Stinger and Alaskan Grizzlie's McCown comment together. Nice spin job, there.

The only thing that I don't like seeing from Cutler right now is still the boneheaded turnovers. It seems to just be something in his DNA. Fortunately it's something you can manage, and that seems to be what Marc Trestman is doing for Jay, now. And he's doing it by getting the most out of his talent. What I love most about Cutler right now is seeing the rhythm in his footwork. On that last drive, I just loved how he had that bounce in his dropback, which is something I've always admired about Aaron Rodgers. Nobody does it better than him. If Jay can continue to do that, he is going to see a dramatic increase in his accuracy, which I think right now is hovering around 67-68%.

Cool story. I'd prolly just stay away from game threads then if I were you.

Whatever fits your agenda, dude.

That's good then.. (I hope)

It's so hard to predict W/L in the future because of the injuries that will inevitably occur at different times. If everything stayed as is, you figure the Bears should win at least 9 or 10 games. If they get bit by the injury bug quite a bit during the year, less than 9, and with a little good fortune they could win over 10 games. The NFC is so tough. You don't want to be fighting for wildcard position knowing that one of SF or Seattle will almost certainly have one of those spots locked up, and same with New Orleans and Atlanta.

When you post during a game, you are always going to get those responses. You get excited during a great play, you vent out your frustrations during a bad one, and after the game is over you reflect on the totality of everything that just happened. What you are asking for is something that almost never happens in a game thread. It is made to be reactionary (if you posts during games). The annoyance I have comes from the individuals who scan through game threads after its over and look at things that happened in the middle of the 2nd quarter where they will draw conclusions from while ignoring everything else.

Shoulder injuries are tricky. You are lucky if you don't need surgery because that tends to be the case with most of them. Hopefully Martellus' will be fine next week. It'd be a huge loss to not have him on the field.

Only 10 teams in the league are 2-0 at this point. I'll certainly take it. I want to see how they play on the road now. Pittsburgh is a pretty difficult place to play in, so it will be a nice test early in the season for this offense. I think the offense is slowly but surely getting better. 323 yards of total offense last week vs the Bengals, 419 against the Vikings this week. Cutler is looking more and more comfortable in the pocket, but he still makes me nervous during the course of the game with his erratic decision making. I need to see the consistency first before I can feel good about their playoff chances. They'll only go as far as he takes them. I'm still concerned about the safeties and defensive line. Not sure what's going on with Peppers or Melton, but they better get it in gear before the defense starts to become a liability. Also, does anybody else feel like our tackling has all of a sudden gotten noticeably worse? I don't know if that's a Lovie/Rod Mareneli thing, but It feels like we aren't wrapping up as much as I'm used to seeing from a Bears defense.

I'm down, but It'll be pretty hard to trade Earl at this point given his injury history and lack of productivity. Wilson at least offers a different element to the passing game that Earl doesn't bring. He's a possession receiver with limited ability. Wilson, while not an elite level speed guy, is still fast enough to be a viable deep threat in the passing game. Funny how times have changed in recent years when Earl was widely regarded as the Bears best receiver, largely because he was the only one who could catch the ball consistently.
