  1. 2004 might have been the worst year of quarterbacks the Bears have ever had. I cannot recall a more painful year.
  2. Can't hurt to give him a tryout. The Bears aren't exactly deep at the position as it is.
  3. It is his second arrest of the off-season, so he's obviously not staying out of trouble. He shouldn't be putting himself into these positions in the first place. I'm all for taking chances on players with questionable character, but when a pattern is developed early, and that player is kind of a scrub, my tolerance level for that kind of behavior is pretty low. Meanwhile, Emery's draft last year is kind of looking like it sucked. Alshon Jeffery is about the only pick that is looking halfway decent at this point.
  4. I'm all for second chances.. Even third chances if you're really really good, but this was Rodriguez's second chance that he blew if you count the charges that were dropped from his first arrest a few months back. I don't care what they do with him, but if they cut him, I can't say they didn't give him a shot to prove himself. It's simple, just stop getting into trouble. Time to grow up and start acting like a real adult with responsibilities. I have no sympathy for people who act like idiots when under the influence of drugs/alcohol.
  5. Very likely he will never put on a uniform for the Bears again. It's a shame too because the kid has talent.
  6. Don't forget about AJ Jenkins. I have a feeling he will fit in right along with Kaepernick and that high-powered offense. They'll definitely take a small step back without their best receiver, but they can still shred you on the ground just as easily. If he's still working out on his own, he's probably just as likely to injure himself, especially if it's an achilles. Those things just go.
  7. Looks like he'll be back for training camp. Hopefully he'll have a long, healthy career.
  8. Looks like he should have took the money Emery offered, although I think we'll be just fine w/o him. Great player. HOF Player. Father time just caught up with him.
  9. He'll be cut at some point. It's just a matter of when.
  10. There's also this: Not sure what it means, if anything, but surprising to hear he's not attending.
  11. Detroit cut ties with him months ago, smartly enough. He's a free agent now, but these incidents probably just ended his career.
  12. Did he get arrested a 3rd time already? I remember hearing he got arrested twice within 15 hours or something but I didn't know he got caught again. What a loser.
  13. He was a reach because he projected as the 6th or 7th best OL in the draft that you took in the first round when you had guys like Eiffert, Ogletree, and others that were left on the board as #1 or #2 at their positions. The Bears chose to go for need rather than go with the best guy. I still have my doubts how Long even made it as far as he did, based off 5 career starts at a major college.
  14. Oh god no. Arena Football would be the WORST option of them all; even worse than the NFL. Arena football is a league predicated on timing and accuracy. The game is faster, and the shortness of the field, with less ground to cover, necessitates quarterbacks who can fit a ball through small windows and deliver it on time. That is not Tim Tebow.
  15. It will be interesting to see which WR's make the roster this year. We know Jeffery, Bennett, and Marshall will be on there. Weems, Hester, and Anderson are the question marks. Anderson showed last year that he's capable of being a big special teams contributor, so he could have an inside track to making the team. I also really like what he showed as a pass catcher in the preseason as well. I don't think you can have both Weems and Hester taking up a roster spot. At least one of them has to go. That leaves one spot left (If they choose to carry 6 WR's) for a rookie, likely either Harrison or Wilson. The other guy could end up on the taxi squad.
  16. They traded up with somebody (Patriots, I think?) to get Patterson. They had two to begin with by virtue of the Harvin trade.
  17. I see they signed Mark Harrison. This guy is big. 6'3, 230 pounds at WR.
  18. I agree with those. I'd also put Minnesota up there because of the 3 first round picks.
  19. Overall, I thought the Bears draft was decent. Similar the way I viewed last year's. Still not a fan of the 1st round pick.
  20. He draws comparisons to Jonathon Baldwin, who Emery helped scout while he was with KC.
  21. They traded back with Atlanta a couple rounds ago.
