adam
Kmet may have just had his worst game as a pro. They are overpaying for a very average TE. Too many drops and penalties for a veteran. DBs should not be able to tackle him so easily. I would consider trading him before the deadline for anything if Loveland is healthy. I really like him as a person, but he continually underwhelms and has seemed to take a huge step back this year.
adam
9 targets, 3 receptions, 3 drops, and 2 false starts. Ugly game.

Given his usual consistent hands I’ll give him a pass - but the penalties were too much. I expect BJ will be tough on him during the break. But in general the dude pretty much catches everything that hits his hands during his career - something was just off today.
Stinger226
. He hasnt started out great but with a Loveland injury, you dont get rid of a depth player. The last two yrs he had the best catch percentage with TEs in the league. Not the time to get rid of players that have a good history of play. He has been very good. Which is why the first round TE didn’t make sense. Everyone can have an off game, especially with how schizophrenic the offense appeared to be today. adam
Kmet had 1 reception of 0 yards coming out of the bye following the worst game of his career. He is on pace for his lowest production since his rookie year. His catch rate is half of what it was over the past 2 seasons. He has literally dropped off a cliff and has the 7th highest AAV for TEs, while Loveland has the 24th. Another strike on Poles. To put that many resources into a non-critical position is wild. But Ben Johnson wanted his LaPorta and made the personnel decision, right? I think you have to give this offense time to develop. They finally showed a running game which who knows if it was a fluke. As for Poles and the Bears draft picks, lets see how this team starts looking once functioning. They are barely winning games and still making foolish mistakes. I agree, other than one bad game, he just isnt getting the targets. Caleb seems to favor Odunze when under pressure where many times either TE is open. Like you said they are still growing the offense. Before LaPorta got there, because of injuries the TE position wasnt effected, hence they traded Hockenson. Hockenson missed 15 games due to injuries' his last two years in Detroit. He had two yrs left on his contract of which probably would have been given in his 4th year. They choose to draft a new TE than resign Hock so they traded him. If they are not going to incorporate the TE more into the offense then I think we could see Kmet being traded next year or redoing his contract. He is a team captain so the team values him. Because they are still inventing the offense, I dont see them making that decision this year.
adam
The TEs have really underwhelmed. Kmet is having the worst year of his career (pass catching), and Loveland has barely played as a top 10 pick (which is not good). All the while Tyler Warren leads all TEs in Rec Yards. Pixote
Since day one of his hire, all we've heard is how he uses two-tight-end sets more often than just about every team in the league. That was one of the justifications for drafting a TE so high. Does anyone have any idea what the figures are on the two-tight-end sets the Bears have run to date under BJ? ASHKUM BEAR
What i have heard is they are using a very small sample or group of plays right now. The offense is very complex and they are taking baby steps. Every person has to know where to line up, the motions, etc. We want the 90s Rams, but have to swallow that these guys need to learn and more will be worse. Stinger226
I dont think there is any reinforcements coming this year. For us to be better , our own players playing better and the younger ones develop. Being we are on a 3 game winning streak and potential to win the next 5 games , I would say the problems are getting fixed from within. We have two talented TEs that BJ said himself he needs to schemed more.

It’s not Poles or Kmet when it comes to Kmet’s performance. It’s the unnecessary drafting of Loveland, and an offense with too many mouths to feed. Kmet was sacrificed in April at the draft. Bears4Ever_34
Yeah, Kmet's production has fallen off a cliff. It's hard to believe a Ben Johnson offense features so little of these TE's. Loveland was excellent in camp, reportedly, but he's been a no show this entire season while Tyler Warren has become the best TE in football with Bowers out. I may have seen a few plays schemed to the TE a game. I don't think Ben is ready to release TE plays until the oline and run games are solid. Also, as stated by others, there are a lot of mouths to feed.
Pixote
Kmet is a gamer. A lot of teams would love to have him. Even in this last game, he made a catch and was immediately met by a WAS defender. He dragged the guy trying to tackle him another five yards to reach the first down marker. Of course, it was nullified by a bogus call. As I said in another thread, I'm anxious to see BJ incorporate the 12 personnel packages he is known to use. We have 2 K.A. TEs. Let's GO!
