W/ the draft so close, I wanted to take a fresh look at the OL. Here is my board. 1. Albert - I have him ahead of Clady, but ask me again tomorrow, and it could change. They are that close. While I think Clady has the most potential to start right away at LT, I simply think Albert is going to be a stud somewhere on the OL. IMHO, he has a ceiling of being a Walter Jones at LT, and a floor of Ruben Brown at OG. If we had no need for OG, I might edge Clady, but we need to hit on our 1st pick, and Albert is as close to a sure thing IMHO as any. 2. Clady is next, by a hair. Blast the list all you want, but here's a list of reasons why the Urlacher move was bad: 1) It hurts the clubhouse. Urlacher was an undeniable leader to the team. 2) It hurts with potential free agents. Bears start out as 6.5 underdogs. For a 5-1 playing a 4-2 team, you would think the spread would be closer to 3. This still shows that oddsmakers do not respect the Bears. I love it. The Rams just lost to the 49ers with Kittle and Samuel having success against the Rams defense. The vaunted Rams defense did not get a sack or turnover. We need a big day from our TE's (STOP THROWING TO HARRIS). Goff only completed 50% of his passes, had 1 INT and only 5.2 yds per attempt. He didn't get sacked, but they had pressure on him all game.

He is, bar none, the worst guard I have ever seen.

Reading an ESPN mailbag, it was talking about the open competition at LG, and spoke about Shaffer working there. I know this has been touched on, but hey, its slow Two things that standout/bug me about working Shaffer at LG. One. If Shaffer is in the competition at LG, that means he is not in the competition at RT. I personally hope Omiyale can play RT, but why would we simply put him there w/o legit competition? Based on his play last year, I would think he was (at minimum) have to earn a starting job this year. Many people at the time wanted us to trade up and snatch Flacco. Now, doing that, we probably would have been stuck giving up our 2nd round pick (Forte). Flacco looks good and so does Forte, and both look like they could be franchise players at their respective positions- looking back on it, would you rather have Forte, or would you rather we traded up and took Flacco?

It is quite boring right now with all the expectations coming and the moves we have made, I just want to jump to August. But until then, who is the biggest suprize of 2009? Not a Cutler, or Briggs making the Pro Bowl again, but someone we dont expect to be one of the stars? Mine is Earl Bennett, nothing to lead me to believe why he would be, but we have a QB and there old friends and someone will emerge as a star, I am calling Earl the one.

Listening to sports radio this morning one would think the bears were the underdog. According to these "experts" the bears not only don't "deserve" to be there but that the seahawks should win here are some of the points they made. 1. Hasselback sees the bears defense very well and knows how to attack it. 2. If Hester hadn't scored the special teams TD the loss would have been worse. 3. The bears/cutler are due to have a let down. After taking day to catch up on some games and performances around the league I have a sense where the Bears fit in. I see all the angst about our loss, mine included, but I don't think a single new Head Coach won their first game including the one who has won a Superbowl, John Gruden. All these teams are in different states of repair but among this group we didn't fare so poorly. There is a learning curve for all new HCs and their teams. We need to keep that perspective as over-reaction Monday fades into the distance. After looking around and seeing the Raiders, Lions, and Cardinals play.
