Here is a link to an article on the Trib's website tonight: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,0,860559.story Question that I have for everyone is that with the way Tommie Harris breaks down, Gaines Adams passing and no idea on Wale at this point, would it be within our interest to see if we are able to make a run at Peppers. I have always like him and the effort that he brings and he is one of those dominant type of players that it maybe nice to add him to the defensive mix. Do we have enough money available and will the McCaskeys agree to giving Peppers a respectable contract to help shore up the defensive line a little bit?

Caleb is the starter. I am a huge fan of Tyson Bagent's as well. I think he is the backup. Case Keenum is here to provice Caleb with advice from his experience. So do we keep 3 QBs on the roster? If you put Bagent on the practice squad someone will steal him and make him QB2 somewhere. And Keenum is too old to even put on the PS. What do you think we will do? If we get a good trade offer for Bagent, then I understand that - but they JUST extended him, but I guess that also might help bring interest in a trade too... I think Bagent is a more valuable backup than Keenum, but is Keenum just for training camp?

  3. As per profootballtalk.com, in summary, Warner said he's staying in Arizona or retiring, and 1/3 of the teams in the NFL have interest in Leftwhich. This is news to Bears fans since after JA's state of the Union address, many of us have taken his comments to mean that Angelo will pursue a QB in free agency. Now Warner, the top QB in free agency, is off the market. That will drive Leftwhich's price up, since as PFT pointed out, there are a ton of teams in the NFL desperate for a QB. Early indications suggest there won't be a QB really worthy of the #18 pick. Anybody we draft won't likely provide immediate competition for Orton. I mentioned in a previ…

  4. So you're saying there's a chance? Brees not playing, Kamara may be limited? Early line has us favored by 3, so we are even on a neutral site. For as good as NO's record is, they have been very inconsistent. The team has scored over 30 3x, and 13 or less 3x. No in-between. On defense, the same thing. They have allowed 24 or more 4 times and 10 or less twice. All 5 of their wins have been by a TD or less, so they are in close games all the time. Their point differential is only +6 in 6 games, which is fairly pedestrian. I think we rebound and come out of the bye with a win at home. We need this game a lot more than the Saints do. I am thinking the Bears 16-13.

  5. At first thought I would say absolutely. But then I started to think and the evidence might tell you a little something about Cutler. Take a look. Before Cutler came into the starting lineup in 2006, Brandon Marshall had 6 rec 76 yards 1 TD through 12 games. Throughout the final 4 games of the year when Cutler came in, Marshall had 14 rec 233 yards and 1 TD. Over the course of the next two years Marshall recorded 206 rec 2590 yards and 13 TD's. So who made who? Was it Cutler or Marshall? I think Cutler was the reason for Marshall's improvement. Tony Scheffler who was also drafted in 2006, pre Cutler, he had 6 rec 75 yards and 0 TD's through the first 12 games o…

Thank God for the Chicago Blackhawks! Baseball in this town is just abysmal and our basketball superstar took the season off, months after he was cleared. I'm not that into other sports, Bears football is my #1 by a long shot, but hockey started being fun again when Rocky took over the team. And now, hopefully they'll win two more and we'll have another parade. It should motivate guys in other sports and on other pro teams when they see how this town celebrates a winner! If they want to be heroes and they succeed, they'll get rewarded beyond their wildest dreams in this city. And even if the Hawks don't win it all, they've been awesome and they've gotten us to b…

There's mention that SF isn't interested in Briggs. I figure it to be a smokescreen since they will get their hands slapped by the NFL soon I imagine. If true, I suppose it increases the chances of our singing him. They also mention the possibility of the Bears trading for Warner in their note on Orton. Sounds like an interesting possibility...that probably should have happened years ago, and not now. http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Kevin White (shin splints) will resume running next week. It's the first time we've heard White's mysterious shin injury referred to as "splints." It's a painful injury typically suffered by runners upping their training or going too hard. White must have been ramping up his workouts in anticipation of his first NFL camp. Rapsheet reported earlier Thursday that the reserve/PUP list is a possibility for White, but also that he's "itching to go." We doubt a team would sacrifice its first-rounder's first six games over shin splints. Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter Aug 6 - 1:18 PM http://www.rotoworld.com/sports/nfl/football?r=1

It is quite boring right now with all the expectations coming and the moves we have made, I just want to jump to August. But until then, who is the biggest suprize of 2009? Not a Cutler, or Briggs making the Pro Bowl again, but someone we dont expect to be one of the stars? Mine is Earl Bennett, nothing to lead me to believe why he would be, but we have a QB and there old friends and someone will emerge as a star, I am calling Earl the one.

Per Jayson Braddock on Twitter. Bears have called, as have Eagles. Surely we would have to throw something else in in a Kaep for Cutler trade?

I think he'll have a solid game... About 200 yards throwing one TD pass, maybe more. We're indoors and the Vikings defensive backfield is suspect. The pass rush could cause him to make a few rookie mistakes so I wouldn't be surprised if he looks a lot like Rex... What does it mean, it's the first step in the process of determining what we do in the draft and what we do with Rex. If Kyle has three excellent games to end the season, you can forget about Rex and you can forget about going for a QB early. With our horrendous O Line I expect he'll look like a Bears QB, nothing special. He can't move outside the pocket all that well. I expect we'll see Kyle produce …

I saw a few here talking about Lofa Tatupu and how they shoud look at going younger. Reading around about this kid is that the opinion is he would make for a better SLB than a Safety. Does this sound familiar? As perhaps someone we know from New Mexico? http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/nineri...?entry_id=94709

http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/12/cutler-3.html Report: Cutler may lobby for USC coordinator ESPN.com reports: If the Bears hire a new offensive coordinator in the offseason, Jay Cutler likely will lobby for USC offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates, multiple sources have told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Bates worked with Cutler in Denver, where he was an assistant to Mike Shanahan. When Shanahan was fired, Cutler told the team he would only stay in Denver if Bates stayed, according to Schefter's sources. Bates left the Broncos to coach at USC. Schefter's sources say that if Bates wants to join the Bears, USC will let him. I realize it says Bat…

  18. This one should be fun. It will depend on what Chicago team shows up. If the same one that has mailed it in shows up, this is an easy 20 pt win for Minnesota. If the Bears roster plays up to potential, it will be a lot closer like the first game. However, looking at what Shanahan did to Washington on Sunday, I am assuming KOC will know how to use Jefferson, Addison, Hockenson, and Jones the same way. My initial thought on this is 31-13 Vikings.
