That means if Bears wanted to completely unload Cutler (basically cut him), it shouldn't be an issue as it would be astonishing if he didn't get a contract worth $15M (that would literally be impossible). I think it is much more likely than any of us previously thought that Cutler is moved sooner vs. later. I still think the ideal scenario has us getting a pick for him. Teams will be desperate and to be frank, we are selling Jay at his lowest value, but understand if the org wants to make a change. I just wish it was in a year where there were more attractive QB options available.

WF just did their post combine mock and gave us... 1R-Shelton 2R-PJ Williams CB 3R- AJ Cann OG 4R- Shane Carden QB Meh... I'd switch it up and go 1R- Beasley OLB- obvious 2R- Shaq ILB- According to WF, teams are putting a 2R grade on him. 3R- Grasu OC- obvious 4R- Ty Montgomery WR- Potential pro bowl returner, with some upside as a WR. Could be a steal. That all coupled with Knighton (Though I bet he follows Del Rio to Oak), Chris Culliver, Rahim Moore, and Jeremy Parnell(OT), and I think we'll be looking at a quick turnaround.

What if the coaches said, as others here have, that there is a decent amount of young talent on the team? That they just need good coaching? Suppose they think Paea will be stout enough for the NT spot, and the combo of Young, Sutton, Ferguson, Allen, etc. is enough for the DL? Suppose they think SMC is great at his natural position, and Bostic/Greene are perfect for the other two holes in the 3-4, with Briggs filling the last spot? They realize the need at FS, but like the scondary otherwise...and dislike small school safeties. I don't care if there are 22 players on defense, you don't make that call in that situation. The Bears were up by two, had a slight edge in momentum, and basically gave a field goal away. To be quite honest, the Bears defense - minus one play - did a great job tonight. With one Cutler INT leading to what amounted to a two yard "TD drive" by the Packers, and the fake punt leading to a gimme field goal, it's a game the Bears should have won. Pittsburgh too is without their defensive leader, and he may be more important to them than Urlacher is to us, and that is saying a lot. They had absolutely no running game (36 rushing yards) vs TEN and their O-Line looked almost as bad as ours. Big Ben was sacked 4 times and threw 2 picks. He also had a couple of "near" picks but got lucky. I think this will be another close game, and definitely winnable. The early line has the Steelers favored by 3. One concern is that they have had a couple extra days to rest, recover, and prepare.

I briefly mentioned this in the game thread, but this weekend, my girlfriend bought herself a Cutler jersey and treated me to a trip to Chicago which included tickets to the Bears/Steelers game. Wouldn't you think of all OC's, Turner would know the most how to utilize Garret Wolfe. His brother runs the show in San Diego and while Norv is a terrible coach he's done a ton with a similar scat back. Couldn't Ron have made a call pretty easily to figure out some better ways to utilize Garret? Now my guess is that Ron has and I personally think the Bears need to utilize Wolfe more, but before we get crazy on things, if you watch the Chargers, they don't just throw screen passes with Sproles. This team is not going to the playoffs. They will be lucky to win 3 more games. Lovie Smith will not be fired. He has 2 years left on his contract at 5.5 million a year. They are not going to eat his contract. Knowing this, Angelo should sit down with Lovie this week and tell him if they don't win 2 of the next 3 games they should start playing some of the younger players. Gilbert, Moore, Iglesias, and Toenia all should see significant time to help them develop for next yr. Further, Gaines Adams should get reps over Ogy since he is more than likely gone.
