Discuss the Monster of the Midway right here as the Bears look to get back on track in 2024 and take the North and never give it back! Flaming is not allowed and all such posts will be deleted. Try to keep it clean and most importantly BEAR DOWN! #BEARS #CHICAGOBEARS #BEARDOWN

  1. I can remember a at least 2 teams in Chicago The Fire coached by Jim Spavital and the Chicago Winds coached by Abe Gibron. The Winds sucked and maybe lasted one year but the Fire had former Bear and Cincinatti Bengal QB Virg ( Chicken Bleep)Carter as their QB and at WR former NFLers James Scott, Jack Dolbin and Trumaine Hawkins. At RB they had Cyril Pinder and Tim Spencer(Bears RB Coach). This league was in the 70's and netted the Bears coach Jack Pardee and quite a few players like James Scott, Greg Latta, Dan Peiffer, Jeff Sevy and Fast Eddie Sheats. This was so long ago that my memory sometimes confuses this league with the USFL that was in the mid 80's if yo…

Every time we think we are going to have a good year, they disappoint us.Every time we expect so little they suprize us. Is it finally the year where we play up to our potenial from day 1. I think so. We now have a more talented Offense to live in the present of the NFL. The defense is starting to slide some, but if we can get top 16 production out of it, we maybe will be talking 11 to 12 victories. Im not drinking coolaid this morning. The STs is always one of the best, so with an upgraded offense, good things could be coming.

  4. I mean, he is a freakin DT. Where on earth will this end? Look at where is gotten to in the last 10 yrs. Bruce Smith made 2.2M 10 yrs ago. He was a premier player. Dwight Freeney got his deal last yr at 6 yrs 72M, 30 guaranteed. Even using simple math, thats 12M per yr. based on the same rate of growth, that implies that 10 yrs from now, that a premier guy like Smith or Freeney is going to make what? 72M a year unless something is done. These salaries have gotten completely out of hand. Hell, Deion Sanders was the highest paid NFL player 10 yrs ago and he was paid 4.9M a Yr and people were going gaga over that. How can the small market teams survive, let alone compet…

Semi-serious question. Does Jaylon Johnson have thumbs? His hands are atrocious. He will never be top tier if he can’t catch garden variety interceptions that should be game-changing pick 6 plays.

  7. http://bearingthenews.com/?p=1565 Does Mike Martz Have Too Much Power? If So He’s Not Alone. The world is full of compromise. And no one apparently hates it any more than Timothy Miller of Endwell, N.Y. Tim is apparently convinced that offensive coordinator Mike Martz is ruining the Bears franchise. How else do you explain the fact that he emailed not one, but two NFL writers asking if Martz has cast a spell over the team that will lead to its ultimate demise. First, let’s see shat ESPN‘s NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert has to say (http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/27117/nfc-north-weekend-mailbag-41): “Tim of Endwell, New York, writes: Do …

  8. Started by Pixote,

I have heard speculation that their HC would never treat this game any differently than the norm. I have also heard key players might be held out, such as Jacobs. What have you guys heard? If they play this game with normal personnel on the field I have no doubt MIN loses. If they pull every player who has as much as a hangnail to prevent further injury, MIN wins.

  10. This is something I can't remember anyone bringing up before (which means it's probably been brought up 1000 times.) But as we talk about bringing in impact players, our history would indicate that we wouldn't give a rookie the chance to play. Yes it's happened before with this staff but only when there was nobody else available (Kyle Orton & Trumaine McBride). Probably the most blatant examples of this were how long it took us to get Hester involved during the 2006 season. Hell, the season was half-way over before we let him start returning kick-offs. Not to mention the way Greg Olsen often dissappeared this year. This theory could also explain why we n…

Signed Matt Slauson G Bushrod T Scott T That puts us at 5 guard/Centers and 6 tackles It appears to me that Brown , Carimi, Williams , webb are gonna have to duke it out in camp, with the new rules in camp it prove difficult to do so.

  12. Listening to Bill Polian today on ESPN,who knows a thing or two about drafting for a 3-4 scheme he said that he felt the Bears would bring a veteran in on every level of the defense that knows the scheme and will help with the transition. He was spot on and this was before the signing of Foster. This is clearly looking like they are adding depth and competition in the front 7 and still need help in the secondary at corner. Although a few mocks are starting to project Cooper to the Bears and I would love that but, selecting Waynes would be a long term move for the defense. At 7 he may be the BPA that the Bears do need also.

  19. From PFT: RAMS CUT BYRD Posted by Michael David Smith on April 29, 2008, 3:41 p.m. After repeated problems both on the field and off, tight end Dominique Byrd has been released by the St. Louis Rams. A good athlete who had a solid college career at USC, Byrd was the Rams’ third-round draft choice in 2006. But he was never productive on the field. In 14 career games he has six catches for 83 yards. Off the field, Byrd has had repeated problems. He is scheduled to stand trial next week on charges of assault and armed criminal action stemming from an incident at a St. Louis bar, when Byrd was accused of hitting someone the face with a glass. In an unrelated…
