He says he wants a chance to be the DC for the Bears. He's a free agent now that the season is over and loves the Bears and would love to come home.

Worked with Jay in the past and Jay publicly campaigned to bring him aboard back in 2012. It would appear that Jay is here at least another year. I'm guessing Fox has sat down with Jay and his name came up. *Sits back and waits for catering to Jay comments*

We are under two weeks until the 2014 draft kicks off. The long wait will soon be over. Time to be bold and make some predictions. Who do you think the Bears will draft? You can predict one pick or all 7. Here is my take: Rd1. RaShede Hageman DT- I don't think Donald will get by 12. Hageman is still learning, athletically gifted, and has size. Rd2. Deonne Buccanon S - size, speed, and a need Rd3. Pierre Desir CB- lengthy small school talent with great understanding of work ethic Rd4. Shayne Skov LB- hard nosed LB that makes plays. One yr removed from injury and getting legs back Rd5. Walt Aikens CB- loading up on small school DBs, one will emerge Rd6. De…

1. Tremain Edmunds LB - VT 6'5 250 Edmunds is too versatile to pass. He can play inside or on the edge. Remember Clay Matthews in his prime moving all along the front and always sacking Cutler. This is how I envision Fangio using Edmunds. This is a disruptive playmaker the D needs to become top 5. This is not about adding a great sound ILB which can be had with Smith, but a guy that is a chess piece offenses try to anticipate. 2a. Sam Hubbard OLB/DE - Ohio St 6'5 270 Drafttek has the Bears selecting him also, like Edmunds and it makes sense. Hubbard is not a flashy player but he will do his job 110%. He is a football player and will probably be a lo…

Given that I know virtually nothing about the current crop of draft prospects...here's what I'd like to see happen, all else being equal. RD1-2 - D line and O line - either or, BPA RD 3 - WR - someone with serious potential. Big target. If the WR is in the 1st or 2nd, then OL/DL here RD 4- DB - We need depth RD 5 - LB - more depth RDs6 -7 - I really don't care...just BPA or whatever whim Emery has. I just think we need to bolster both lines...and grab a WR prospect. Everything else is depth, ST, or dumb luck we can find a diamond in the rough. I can't see Emery reaching... If we can get out with contributors on both lines and a WR that has po…

This is interesting and while it's PFF it's still telling that Daniels improved quite a bit back at his natural spot. Whitehair too is a better OG. Maybe instead of focusing on drafting a RG early we should be looking to draft OC and move Whitehair to RG? https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-offensive-line-rankings-following-2019-regular-season A silver lining for the group came from James Daniels after he switched over to left guard. Daniels’ 73.9 overall grade at left guard ranked fifth among all qualifiers at the position. With that said....this guy has a little Quenton Nelson style in the way he blocks.

This is why the Bears should draft all offense this year. Focus absolutely everything on protecting the franchise player and providing him with superior weapons.

Bears offseason priorities IMO: 1 Take care of their own a.) Olin Kreutz - ask him if he can go for 2 more yrs, he's not playing for anyone else. He said he may retire b.) Caleb Haine - Still not a guy you want running the helm if Jay goes down for long, but not much out there better c.) Pisa Tinoisamoa - Solid guy next to Url/Briggs. Remember the SLB takes on more blocks and thats the scheme. d.) Corey Graham - Can fill in spot duty at CB, but great ST. Worth an extension imo e.) Daniel Manning - Seems like he's becoming "demanding", make a minium offer. Hate to see him returning against us. f.) Anthony Adams - He seemed to run out of gas later in th…

We're starting to see some nearly final draft boards. There are some surprising changes or maybe wide variance in player grades from one to the next. Rotoworld has Chase Claypool list #26 overall! He was 4th Rd prospect 2 months ago. Josh Jones OT and a favorite of sorts on the board for our 43rd pick is listed #19 overall. Denzel Mims another 2-3rd prospect is #12 overall. Antonio Gibson RB/WR another oft mentioned 4th/5th Rd target for us is listed at #39. His production and lack of a formal position (meaning he couldn't win either job) moves him way down my board. https://www.rotoworld.com/article/nfl-draft-preview/norris-nfl-draft-rankings-top-50-0 …

In the last couple of weeks there has been a buzz that Notre Dame safety Harrison Smith is rising up draft boards and could sneak into the first round.I say buyer beware. Since the Irish are on national TV just about every week he was not a name that I focused on when they played and he didn't do much to make me notice. This is a bad safety class IMO and I would try to selecta CB that would project to safety since this scheme needs a guy to cover deep with ball skills.Barron for sure is the best player at the position but there has been big debate for all others as to who would be the next off the board. Smith has started to emerge as the next but, I would wait and try to …

We're some 40 hours free of the end of the draft and a lot of thoughts have been kicking around my head about these guys. Probably yours too. So let's get them out there. With apologies to Peter King, here's some things I think I think: 2a. Kyler Gordon, CB, Washington - The one pick I got right in my mock, and I wasn't at all sure about it because it heard that CB is not a priority in the Flus defense. Still, I always saw #2 CB as the biggest weakness on this team as a whole - I don't trust Graham (yet), Vildor is still not ready, and the rest of the guys are slot guys. We desperately needed another legit CB with Jaylon, especially with all the WRs the Vikings …

Things change quickly in the NFL world, especially when your team wins 12 games, and here's the first draft profile I've read where a player is compared against Tarik Cohen. https://thedraftnetwork.com/2019/01/08/2019-nfl-draft-player-profile-james-williams/ C.O.D./Agility – Elusive without being overly explosive on his feet. Much more James White in his ability to evade tacklers and pick up extra yards than he is Darren Sproles or Tarik Cohen. Light feet, but doesn’t possess the stop on a dime and make a cut at full speed ability that elite space players have.

It is a little late, but in honor of ITC3, I'll take over running the draft contest this year. Please submit a first round mock draft to me via email (preferably in excel) to Bullsback@gmail.com . Please list from the #1 pick in the round to the last pick in the first round (you don't need to put the team name down as I will solely be looking at where a player is picked, not by whom they are picked). The person who has the most correct picks (regardless of trades, I will just go down the list and if the guy is picked at the number you said you will get one point) wins. I have no idea what the tie-breaker would be, but maybe someone can come up with someth…

We need to add a speed element to our offense. DAT can fill that void both as a slot type WR and RB and can also replace Hester as our KR/PR. He's small so he's not going to handle many plays but our offense is set for the most part so having him out there for 5-10 plays a game is fine. He is projected to be drafted anywhere from 3rd Rd to as late as the 7th Rd. Durability concerns will likely push him back towards the third day of the draft although an outstanding forty time might move him up higher. I think his skill set is more versatile than Hester's as a WR and he can run with good vision between the tackles, enough that the occasional play inside will keep the …

Everyone knows who the first pick is. What happens at 9 is the question. This is my take and why. 1) Caleb Williams- no brainer 9) trade with LV to 13 and also get pick 77 13). Trade with Cinn to 20 and get pick 80 20) Chop Robinson / Chop is raw but has speed and off the chart athletics. Played the a true DE position and will only be 21 this year. 6'3" 255 at 4.48 speed RAS score 9.69 75) Mo Kamara/ edge highly productive , 6'2" 250 at 4.57 speed. Compares to Brandon Graham RAS 8.82 77) Tez Walker/ WR natural playmaker with 4.36 speed. 18 TDs in last 20 games RAS 9.87 80 )Tanor Bortolini /…

It's finally here, Draft starts tonight. A little less exciting today as we don't have a first rounder. This will our first look at how Ryan Poles runs a draft room. It's his first ever draft as GM. I'm both excited and nervous on how this will go. We have definite needs and only 6 picks. I won't focus on specific position or players but more or less what I'd like to see us do in general. Trade wise, if we do make trades I hope that we do so in a way that maximizes value. I don't want to see us sacrifice limited 2022 capitol, or borrow heavily from 2023, to not get back good value. I want us to be smart and strategic about our draft day trades if we make any. I…

I was very surprised at how high guys like Tyler Smith and Cole Strange went. There always an ebb and flow to draft trends and IOL are moving upwards lately. I still like IOL. Raimann, Rhyan, and at OT I have no clue where Petit-Frere fits because his ranking is anywhere from 2nd to 5th Rd but he still seems like a reasonable option somewhere. WR: Watson, Pierce, Pickens (character questions might not fit Bears and those issues likely push Pierce's value higher). Other options: DT Winfrey S Jalen Pitre. (love his game and having him and Roquan on the field gives us a lot of flexibility in coverages and blitz packages) CB: Booth Jr. f…
