Reading a Trib article talking about what to do if/when Pace is healthy. Article mostly seems to point to the greater need of finding out whether Williams is their LT or not, but in reading the article, Briggs makes the following comment. While he has been maligned for his play much of the season, he held up blocking the Vikings' Jared Allen solo before being hurt. I read that and just froze. To say he blocked Jared Allen solo is equal to saying, hey, Jonathan Quinn started at QB. Just because you point out a situation a player was in doesn't factor how they played. I briefly mentioned this in the game thread, but this weekend, my girlfriend bought herself a Cutler jersey and treated me to a trip to Chicago which included tickets to the Bears/Steelers game. This is something I can't remember anyone bringing up before (which means it's probably been brought up 1000 times.) But as we talk about bringing in impact players, our history would indicate that we wouldn't give a rookie the chance to play. Yes it's happened before with this staff but only when there was nobody else available (Kyle Orton & Trumaine McBride). Probably the most blatant examples of this were how long it took us to get Hester involved during the 2006 season. Hell, the season was half-way over before we let him start returning kick-offs.
