The way the rules favor QB's, and recievers, for more points, might be good for us if we committe ourselves to the run game. Since most defenses are preparing for this pass happy league in games and practice, we might have an advantage if we can keep running the ball like last week. Most teams might be more prepared for the pass than the run. So lets run at least 30 times against Detroit. Also on defense for us, I am liking the way we play in the red zone the last few years. It seems to me that many of the points scored on us come from outside of the red zone, once their O is in our red zone we see things better. I am extremely happy with the development of our WRs. Hester, Bennett, and Knox have all stepped up big time. I do not see this as a need next yr. I would say FA and the draft should concentrate on: - Offensive line - Defensive backfield Get a top tier OL in FA and then draft best available of the 2 in the 3rd and 4th round. Peace

Lovie Smith and Co. Week 17: You milk it the 2nd half and basically let your arch rival into the playoffs. Horrible offensive playcalling (Martz), however defense was great 95% of game. Divisional Playoff: Great game all around, then your OC calls a halfback pass... we all know NFC Championship: Arch rival comes to town and hands you your ass for 35minutes. Dahl/OG-Atl Nasty attitude bodes well for our OL Light/OT-NE Older but could be a bridge to Carmi or Webb on left side . A two year deal Mebane/DT-Sea Ruskin knows well, has big upside Sims-Walker/WR/Jag bottom end of first tier WRs, could be big upgrade over current crop of wideouts Anderson/LB-Car starting to come into his own and still young Marshall/CB-Car He has good stats and can start on this team None of the above will come cheap but none will cost big money. Hey Guys, I'm very optimistic about our new staff and roster. I've been hoping for something like this, and it seems to me that they are doing all the right things. That said, I do expect the defense to take a step backward this year. Our "Cover 2" defense should probably be called a "One Gap" defense, since it's more about the front than the coverage behind it. Our aggressive scheme asks defensive linemen to get into their gaps and get upfield. This leaves 4 other gaps for LBs and a Safety to be responsible for. Hear me out on this. Let's say Barber and Bell continue to shine and Taylor does a reversal...and Forte will not come to an agreement with the team. Do we consider trading Forte if we can get the right offer (I would say a 1st round pick)? I love Forte and would hate to see him leave but running backs are a dime a dozen. Among the most often pointed out issues involving ANY team now trying to make a play for Cuter, it is pointed out that no one has Cassel to offer Denver, which was the key in this. It is less about the new staff disliking Cuter, and more about their simply really wanting Cassel. However, Cuter wants out now, and we have all seen what can happen to a team when one of its star players begins going to the media and saying he wants nothing to do w/ that team. Well, as it has been pointed out, we have no Cassel to offer. Further, Denver, if they trade Cutler, has nothing in depth to replace him. This is just a thought: If both Jones and Forte look good again next week, why not consider trading Jones if the opportunity occurs (say another team loses their starting rb to injury)? I would only consider this if we can get some o-line depth or a draft pick. Another idea: Same thought at D tackle. Trade Anthony Adams since we have Israel, Tunai, Harrison, Harris, and Dusty. Talks about how little we have used Cutler on rollouts, bootlegs and such. Turner says it was part of the original plan, but they just got away from the plan. Anyway, as so many here have screamed to use Cutler in such a way, this article is right up that alley.
