  1. Started by jason,

I have to say I saw this coming. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...-goal-line.html It may be minor right now, but when we get later in the season and Bush has half as many carries but just as many TDs, expect more rumblings from Forte.

http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/...ck/Default.aspx --------------------------------------- John Mullin of CSNChicago.com reports Bears running back Matt Forte is turning 2011 into a statement season, accounting for more than half of the team's combined offensive production thus far. But the Bears have not yet locked him up to an extension. "Obviously someone doesn't believe I'm an elite running back," Forte said. Forte stands just 17th in rushing after two weeks, with 117 total yards and an average of 4.5 yards per carry but he is No. 2 in the NFL with 324 yards, second only to Carolina’s Steve Smith’s 334 yards. And that should matter as far as F…

Was checking out another website and caught a glimpse of an interesting topic of discussion. With the possibility of C. Johnson (Tennessee) entering the trade market, should the Bears consider loooking at it with Forte as their "bait"? My vote is NO as I am a fan of Forte's and like his long term value. I see Johnson similar to A. Peterson (Vikings one) where he is a different style runner that will probably hit a wall soon. I don't see Peterson lasting a lot longer...at his pace. Forte on the other hand has not only been, injury free, but improved himself this year physically. And he has other intangibles (receiver out of the backfield) that are good to have.…

I realize over the past year, this board has warmed up to Jay, but Forte goes to bat for Jay again. I will say, I hope the Bears and Forte can figure out something reasonable to allow Forte to retire a Bear. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-...ys-a-huge-role

Just like Peanut. Just like Urlacher. Forte wants to remain in Chicago. http://www.csnchicago.com/bears/workhorse-...-stellar-career I think this article is basically a sign that he won't be with the Bears next year.

Bears GM Jerry Angelo considers second-round pick Matt Forte a "three-down back." Beware Cedric Benson, your job is in great danger. "I felt like our running game obviously was one of the weak spots on our football team," Angelo said, referring to last year. "He gives us a big back, a three down back." Forte is going to compete to start right away, and he just may be the favorite. Source: Chicago Sun Times

    1. Why was Jones inactive? 2. Why did AP receive carries so early in the game (2nd & 3rd QTR)? 3. What were Wolfe's run-plays? The play-by-play never really tells the whole story of sweep versus off-tackle. Thanks

  10. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...arter/#comments Lovie Smith says Matt Forte will be the starter Posted by Mike Florio on March 24, 2010 9:10 AM ET Bears running back Matt Forte will earn a base salary of $470,000 in 2010. Newcomer Chester Taylor will be paid $7 million as part of the three-year, $12.5 million contract. But coach Lovie Smith said at Wednesday's NFC coaches' breakfast that Forte will be the starter, per Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times. That said, Smith added that there will be "competition." Given the eventual contents of Taylor's W-2 form for the current year, that "competition" could be tilted in favor of the vete…

Tribune is reporting it is a knee sprain. Bears will know more in another day or two. My personal feeling is he doesn't miss anymore than a week. I wouldn't even be shocked if he could play as early as next week. Sounds like there isn't any ligament damage but until they do the full medical exam after swelling goes down you just never know.

http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/...ed/Default.aspx Michael C. Wright of ESPNChicago reports the Chicago Bears have extended a contract offer worth to running back Matt Forte in the neighborhood of up to $15 million guaranteed, according to sources. Given recent statements by general manager Jerry Angelo, and the fact the regular season is less than two weeks away, it appears negotiations are likely coming to a close whether or not Forte agrees to the deal, in which the total value and length weren't disclosed. According to NFL sources, the Bears initially used the six-year contract worth $32 million ($10 million guaranteed) signed by Kansas City C…

Texans and Arian Foster reached agreement on a five-year, $43.5 million deal that includes $20.75 million guaranteed. per Shefter I think this is what Forte would be looking for.

There is no way Fox and any of the coordinators are at minimum back next season. Hopefully, some get pink slips today... However, the bigger question now is does Pace get to choose the next or should he be bounced too? He's certainly made some hits and certainly some misses. I've personally come to the conclusion that I don't care either way. If he stays, he's shown enough to get one last chance to get it right. If he goes, so be it. He's made enough mistakes to warrant it. That said, if Pace goes, I want Sweatty Teddy put back on the calculator and hire a real president of football operations. I want a full clean. Hire the right man to hire the ri…

I have seen many news articles saying that Fox is on shaky ground; what does everyone think here? Personally, with what I know I would not tend to want to start over at this point again with another unknown quantity. That being said, not sure about Loggains and wonder about why we get hit so hard with injuries.
