Not sure how it works with teams with worse records making the playoffs, but the Bears shouldn't be to much lower than the 16th pick. Here's what I'd like to see them draft. 1-16 Everette Brown DE FSU Bears sack totals have fallen off the charts and without pressure on the QB, this defense just will not work. Oguneleye has never lived up to his Miami days and will most likely be cut leaving a Brown/Brown combo at DE. 2-48 Phil Loadholdt OT OU With St. Clair's contract expiring, the Bears draft Loadholdt just in case St. Clair signs else where. John Tait, on the other hand didn't step up like expected when the Bears shifted him from the LT side to th…

  2. Bears | Smith to meet with Marinelli Fri, 02 Jan 2009 13:05:46 -0800 Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith is scheduled to meet with former Detroit Lions head coach Rod Marinelli Friday, Jan. 2, about the possibility of Marinelli joining the Bears coaching staff. Marinelli is expected to take the Bears coaching job, but his agent says there are other opportunities. "Rod has a number of opportunities and he is seeing Lovie and they're sitting down and talking. It's a visit," agent Frank Bauer said.

I'm wondering what JA is thinking about Lovie and what Lovie is thinking about JA. I think maybe there's a little rift going on and our next move may be a sign of things to come. Lovie Smith said in his post season interview that it didn't help when he lost his #1 and #2 WR. I take those comments as strikes towards JA. I even think this started about a year ago. Muhammad was released in Feb, Berrrian was not resigned and then Lovie stated "Devin can be a #1 WR in this league" putting pressure on Hester and JA. The Bears also had Mark Bradley who IMO Angelo wanted to see get his shot, but Lovie refused. If it was Lovies choice not to play/develop and then cut …

  4. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...ent-team/1.html Inside linebacker Brian Urlacher, Bears -- His reputation says he's one of the most dominating defensive players in the game. But reality says Urlacher just had a season in which he made almost no big plays for a Bears defense that has slid a long way from its 2006 hey day. Urlacher had no sacks, no forced fumbles and just two interceptions this season. That's almost hard to do when you start and play all 16 games in the middle of a defense.

BEARS HIRE HOKE TO COACH SECONDARY Posted by Aaron Wilson on January 13, 2009, 12:01 p.m. The Chicago Bears announced today that they have hired former Houston Texans assistant Jon Hoke as their new secondary coach, replacing Steve Wilks. Hoke coached the Texans’ defensive backs for the past seven seasons after a three-year stint as the University of Florida’s defensive coordinator/secondary coach. Hoke held the title of assistant head coach during his final two years in Gainesville, Fla. He also has coached at Missouri, Kent State, Bowling Green and San Diego State The new job brings Hoke back to the Windy City where the former Ball State player playe…

Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech Height: 6-3. Weight: 210. Projected 40 Time: 4.48. Projected Round (2009): Top 5 Pick. 1/6/09: Michael Crabtree has told reporters and coaches that he's declaring for the 2009 NFL Draft. This has always been a no-brainer; I don't think Crabtree has ever left the top eight selections in my 2009 NFL Mock Draft 1/4/09: So, is Michael Crabtree coming out? "I'm just going to make my decision after the bowl game," Crabtree said. "It will be easier for everybody. I know, but I'm not ready to say." If Crabtree goes, he's pretty much a top-five lock. Crabtree had 93 catches, 1,135 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2008. 10/19/08:…

If this guy hangs around until the 3rd rd, I would take him in a heart beat. Put Williams at LOT, Place Sinclair next to him at LOG, OK as Center, Place Johnson at ROG, and then grab a ROT in the draft or FA. Problem solved, we have a solid and powerful OL. Herman Johnson, LSU, One Huge OG prospect, Would look great in a Bears Uniform, IMO.

The Bears are expected to try to re-sign OT John St. Clair this offseason with the intention of starting him at right tackle. St. Clair's pass protection woes would be less obvious on the strong side after he gave up a high volume of sacks in Kyle Orton's blind side last year. The Bears would likely have him battle it out with RT John Tait. By Vaughn McClure Last year before the draft, NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock reported how teams dropped Chris Williams on their draft boards because of medical issues related to Williams’ neck and back. As you may recall, back surgery sidelined the Bears' top pick for half of his rookie season. Reminded of his …

It seems Carolina's quandry will come to a head on Feb 19th, when they will have to decide what to do about the Gross/Peppers problem if Peppers continues to demand to be traded and Gross does not sign a long term deal. I would love to have Gross added to our roster. Peppers is wanting to go to a 3-4 defense so that would be out of our area. Article about Carolina's FA decisions with Peppers & Gross

Crabtree's injury causes him to drop to 18th where we can nab him. Really though that does suck for him and i wonder if it will have any affect on where he gets drafted. I could see it not really doing anything

Since we now have another body to add to the mix. I think we should still resign St Clair and still draft a OT in the first round. We need as many bodies as possibe since we arent even sure Williams can play yet. So could this be our ofensive line? Williams, St. Clair, Keuntz, Buening, Oher with Omiyale, Beekman, and Garza backing them up. We cut Metcalfs ass.

My choices for this version: 1. Aaron Maybin DE - We need to have some youth move in for Adewale and Alex real soon. I picked Maybin over English b/c Maybin has 2 more inches of height at 6-4". It was mentioned before that Mark Anderson was too small, but he's also listed at 6-4" were Wale=6-4, Brown=6-3". Larry English listed at 6-2" 2. Brian Robiskie WR - He's the sleeper of the litter at WR. Playing for a run oriented Buckeye team, Robiskie at 6-3 209 has nice size/speed combo. His routes, hands, and maturity are pro ready as his father (ATL WR's coach) groomed him well. 3a. Jarius Bryd CB/S - The Bear need to find a true FS, Byrd has the ve…

One veteran lineman definitely won't be back as guard Terrence Metcalf requested and was granted his release. A third-round pick in 2002, Metcalf made 25 starts for the Bears. He signed a six-year, $12.2 million contract in 2006 and was expected to start at left guard last season before arthroscopic knee surgery in training camp opened the door for Josh Beekman. Newly signed free agent Frank Omiyale is expected to take over at left guard. The Bears had hoped to carry Metcalf at least through training camp and the preseason, but they have more depth with veteran Dan Buenning and starting right guard Roberto Garza, so they allowed Metcalf to depart now to find a new te…

GILL STANDS OUT AT NORTHWESTERN PRO DAY Posted by Aaron Wilson on March 13, 2009, 2:03 p.m. Northwestern defensive tackle John Gill wasn’t invited to the NFL scouting combine, but topped many players’ workout numbers during his Pro Day workout this week. That showing would have ranked him among the top 10 defensive tackles at the combine. Weighing in at 302 pounds, Gill clocked a 4.91 in the 40-yard dash, registered 29 repetitions of 225 pounds in the bench press test and turned in a 31.5-inch vertical leap. His shuttle run was 4.44 seconds and his three-cone drill was 7.1 seconds, which were better than any of the defensive tackle numbers at the Scouting Combi…
