Not sure I agree with this but it's a "glass half full" take on what many of us are struggling to understand. http://gapersblock.com/tailgate/2014/01/be...iendly-deal.php Again, I don't know what the real contract details are but it seems most are agreeing that first year salary is $22.5. If as this article suggests this doesn't stop them from going after the star defensive FA's out there, it might make sense. I'm still trying to come to grips with it.

MccClellin to LB? Bears head coach Marc Trestman added: "We'll look hard at Shea doing other things besides being lined up at defensive end. If that means moving him to a linebacker position as we move forward, that will be under consideration as well. But there's no doubt as Phil and I watched the tape this week that he's capable of more, and we'll work toward that as we move forward. He's got it in him. It's our job as coaches, and it starts with me, to get him in a position to be more successful, and we feel confident we can get that done."

I really don't know how Eddie freaking Lacy makes the All-Pro team but Forte doesn't? That is a load of crap and makes me dislike GB even more. I hate even thinking this but if Lacy, Rodgers, Nelson, Cobb, or Jones tears an ACL this weekend, I won't feel sorry for any of them. Then Marshall and Jeffery both getting jipped as well. One of them should've made it. I thought Jeffery had a shot since he was neck and neck with Gordon for most of the season. They probably cancelled themselves out, but D. Thomas made it with Decker and Welker. In the end, we had no national support this year (what's new).

Someone posted this over on soxtalk, and although the results came out pretty silly (Clowney fell to 14) it's still a fun little tool to pass time.... http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/ I got..... 1R- Louis Nix III DT- Big hoss who is gonna demand double teams which makes the rest of the DL and LBs jobs easier. 2R- Craig Loston SS- Draws comps to last years LSU safety Eric Reid...Obvious need 3R- Jackson Jeffcoat DE- A DE that racked up 80 tackles has got to be good against the run. 4R- Dion Bailey FS- I was gonna add a point about adding a FS in FA but with Bailey here I say fug it, they should be better than what they have. 5R- Deion Belue CB- Depth…

So we signed Cutler,Gould,Jennings and Slauson and will sign more shortly....as for needs who do we get with the first pick? I think it will or should be a FS or SS. All our secondary are FA ( Waters, Tillman, Wright, Steltz, Bowman, Hayden) and Conte is just not cutting it

Didn't know where to put this but I reckon it doesn't hurt to start a new thread... Biggsy was responding to some tweets about draft needs and here's a couple that stood out.... Brad Biggs @BradBiggs 2 Jan @MB10_10 I think there are greater needs, specifically interior O-line and backup TE Brad Biggs @BradBiggs 2 Jan @ChadBudd88 G and backup TE make more sense to me. No need for a developmental QB right now with QB on a 7 yr deal. Not pressing need anyway First tweet merely said interior O-line, not singling out OC, then the next one says straight up G as a draft need, didn't even add the word backup. I didn't hear the presser…

“Jay will be back. Jay will be back. So all these stories for the offseason, you guys can put that at the bottom,” Marshall said. He reiterates those statements on the Sports Sunday post game show. Don't know if it's just a "buddy statement" or if he knows this as a fact. Both the locker room quote and the post game show quote sounded pretty confident.

So it's official, we hold the 14th pick in the 2014 draft. I see plenty of reasons to be excited this May when draft day arrives. There could be 4 or 5 QB's drafted ahead of us, 1 or 2 WR's, 1 or 2 OT's, and some talented 3-4OLB/ 4-3 DE's prototypes. That will hopefully allow our major needs to fall into our laps. I created a list of 5 players we may have a chance to draft. Out of those 5, I would be pleased with any of them and know we would have a difference maker. Also, they are not in my order of preference either. 1. Louis Nix DT Notre Dame 6'-3" 340 5.55 Nix is a rare breed of big and athletic, which don't come around often. He would be a 3-4 …

None for me, maybe Chud in Cleveland. But I am glad Schiano got sent packing. He's a first class asshole as far as I am concerned.

When does Mel Tucker join the line? If not, then Emery needs to be fired. An asinine plan to keep the defensive scheme completely intact. Finding a willing coach was even worse. Hindsight is 20-20 but that plan blew chunks. Start over, don't blow another season. Even with new players coming in the draft and FA, it seemed pretty clear that Tucker and his crew can't teach. So why trust them with the next crew?

With Frazier rumored to be on the hot seat, he would be a better candidate to run the Bears defense than Ryan.IMO He is familiar with the division and has run successful defenses in Minnesota in a 4-3. If he takes the heat for the Vikings drop off in play this year he will be in demand as a coordinator.
