I thought D.J. Moore was in Lovie's doghouse. I'm also surprised to see him sign Maneri so perhaps he is gong to revise his "Run First" offense in Tampa. I'd say this indicates he'll make a strong push to sign Tillman. If the price is high I think we let him go. ------------------------ http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/rumors The Buccaneers have signed former Bears D.J. Moore and Steve Maneri. The team announced the moves. ------------------------

First and foremost, he does not believe in the "home town discount." That's not terrible, but it means he's going to be looking for a huge contract. Is he worth it? The Seahawks have the best secondary in the NFL, and it's probably not even close. Richard Sherman is arguably the best lockdown CB in the league, and their pair of safeties (Chancellor and Thomas) are both among the best in the league. It just makes me wonder whether his results should be better? This article makes a good case for him and supports it with some stats that scs will break out the Jergens for, but for the talent on that defense, I wonder if he's as good as the money he'll be expec…

Walterfootball just released the combine measurements for the DL prospects so I figured I'd highlight some of the guys we've talked about. Jadaveon Clowney- 6-5 266 34 1/2 inch arms- I put him up there as sort of a measuring stick. Kony Ealy- 6-4 273 34 1/4- Pretty much right there with Clowney Kareem Martin- 6-6 272 35- The knock on this guy is his speed, he's projected to run a 4.9 while Ealy is expected to be in the 4.7 range. If he beats those projections he could work his way into 1st round consideration Dee Ford- 6-2 252 32 7/8- Short with short arms, further adding to my thought that he's not a 4-3 DE and the Bears won't draft him. Jackson…

How far would you be willing to trade up for the right talent? Suppose the top of the draft goes QB crazy. Four of the top five teams need a QB. The Rams like their QB, their coach has a relationship with a stud player’s Dad (Bruce/Jake Matthews), and they need playmakers. Atlanta sits at pick 6, and one of their team needs is DL. 1. HOU – Bridgewater 2. STL – Matthews 3. JAX – Manziel 4. CLE – Bortles 5. OAK On the Value Chart, the #5 pick is 1,700 points and the #14 is 1,100 points. The Bears’ second rounder is worth 390. Given that Oakland has notoriously bad front office decisions, let’s say they’re willing to trade their first ro…

A few players in FAgency I think we should look at that would add to the team, not top players. Dexter McCluster/RB/WR - I think he would add something to our offense we havent seen yet. Matt Shawnessey/DE-already mentioned by a member, think he is under the radar player that could help lots.Could be gotten instead of Wootton Desmon Bishop/MLB- talented player injured last year Cory Graham/CB- at 29 still has some life in him Malcom Jenkins- young and upcoming Garret Grahan/TE- would be a good complement to Bennett

Free agency begins March 8th, a little more than 2 weeks away. We need $$$ space. Looking at the numbers on this site: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/chicago-bears/ Aside from reworking Cutler deal, I see the following options: Cut Peppers: dead cap space $8.3mil, Frees up $9.8mil I've said I'm in favor of this and not changing now. Cut Michael Bush: dead cap space $2mil, Frees up $1.85 mil More than enough to sign a replacement capable of getting 3.1 yd/carry and leave at least $800k for other players. Cut Podlesh: dead cap space: $800k, Frees up $1.8mil Find a Punter for closer to minimum salary and we should have ~$500k in change. …

DB evaluating isn't my area of "expertise" but we need em, so I think we need a thread about em. Justin Gilbert ran the fastest 40 at 4.37, he's 6 foot even but has some of the longest arms in the draft at 33 1/8, only Keith McGill has longer at 33 1/4. If the Bears fill out their DL in FA Gilbert looks like he could he has the length and speed to hang. Announcers are raving about him. Darqueeze Denards measueables don't look that great, an inch shorter than Gilbert and his arms are 3 inches shorter. He ran a 4.51, which announcers say was good enough.I loved him early on, for the most part just because a nickname like "Mr. No Fly Zone" makes it sound like you'r…

Both 1 year deals. Not surprised, keep hearing good things about Boggs and I think he's a quality backup for Garza(if they resign him) Martin's a real goor special teams player, perhaps has an outside chance at putting up a fight at either safety position.

I think our top priority this off season is to identify and add a couple of leader types on the defense. As much as I think letting Urlacher go was needed , we did miss his leadership. Him being here probably wouldnt have made much difference in our final record, but he would have put the young players in a better place to succeed. Briggs,IMO, isnt a team leader, he is a good player with a big mouth. When he came back from injury, he was out of shape and team leaders dont do that. Tillman and Peppers, lead by example, not inspiration to the people that needed guidance. Peanut was hurt almost all year, and Peppers has lost a step. He had many games he just didnt show up. …

No this is not a thread about SCS or AG, I am referring to players we dont want to see us draft. I dont wish to take the chance on Nix being a good player because of his injury history. It is hard to say how his pro career works out, tons of talent but we have drafted to many players in the past that never lost that injury tag and turned out crap. Also I obviously wouldnt like to see us draft any offensive players at least in the first two rounds. We have so many holes to fill, I actually wouldnt want to see any before the 5th round. Lets say Jake Mathews drops to our spot, a clear top 5 prospect everywhere. What do we do? If were going by BPA, I wou…

Phil Emery's pre combine speech gave a little insight on this draft. He is looking to trade down, he is looking for a young defense, he wants to stop the run, and he wants a defense that can score. He learned his lesson on undersized D-Lineman, he is giving Conte another shot, he wants to resign Garza, Tillman, DJ Williams, and Wootton. Since Phil is looking to trade down, I found a trade partner with Miami at 19. We acquire 1-19, 3-81, and 5-143, which equals out in the trade value chart. 1-19 Kony Ealy DE Missouri 6'-5" 275 A lot of updside, has all the tools to develop into a premier DE in the NFL. 2-51 Jimmy Ward SS Northern IL 5'…

I found this article and thought it worth posting. The Bears have been very quiet regarding FA and with their recent contracts have put us in a spot with no cap room. There is no way that is the long term plan so much will be happening behind the scenes starting, as the article states, at the NFL Scouting Combine. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/How-NF...works-2784.html

Read what you wish, but it looks like the 4-3 is here to stay: http://www.chicagobears.com/news/article-1...ba-b720f5e730d8 Looks like they're giving themselves a little wiggle-room, but not much. It's a 4-3.
