So, because of the other thread, here's the official/unofficial offensive line rankings. Simple stuff. Rank the five Bears offensive linemen 1-5 throughout the year. Consider effectiveness, consistency, penalties, sacks, huge plays, leadership, dominance, responsibility, etc. For my money it's probably: 1) Bushrod - Huge problems before this year. Nearly no problems this year. Called on to man the most difficult position, and for the most part dominated. 2) Slauson - Rarely heard anything about him. That's good. An anchor for the OL. 3) Long - Had some rookie blunders, but more than made up for it with crushing blocks and attacks of the second level. 4…

I was reading some interesting info on Garza. Garza graded out as the second best lineman on the team this year. He is a team leader and has been relatively healthy. I was wanting to move on from him, but have changed my mind and want him for one more year. We still need to add a eventual replacement, maybe find someone in the later rounds.

I thought we could use a thread to discuss the current games, if anyone is watching. The Indy game was crazy, Luck got some luck when Brown fumbled in the Red Zone and the ball bounced off a players helmet right to Luck who dove into the endzone. Glad to see Philly lose, but their offensive performance against the Saints really showed how bad our defense was. Brees throws 2 INTs and wins. McCoy longest run was 11 yards. GO SF!!!!

He was one of 7 inactives and doesn't suit for game. http://espn.go.com/blog/seattle-seahawks/p...eattle-seahawks They didn't even want him in uniform in case his drops would spread to the other players, lol.

We need to add a speed element to our offense. DAT can fill that void both as a slot type WR and RB and can also replace Hester as our KR/PR. He's small so he's not going to handle many plays but our offense is set for the most part so having him out there for 5-10 plays a game is fine. He is projected to be drafted anywhere from 3rd Rd to as late as the 7th Rd. Durability concerns will likely push him back towards the third day of the draft although an outstanding forty time might move him up higher. I think his skill set is more versatile than Hester's as a WR and he can run with good vision between the tackles, enough that the occasional play inside will keep the …

Were slow at work right now and I have a lot of free time on my hands, so I have been checking out the draft with my free time. We need 2 safeties, 2 DEs, and 2 DTs,1 CB and I think the way the draft will fall that the best defensive player on the board will be: C.J. Mosley/MLB/Ala He is consistently rated in the top 10 players in the draft and is almost always there when we draft. I think we should take him because he will have a huge impact on our defense in the first year. He is a physical specimen, although a light 238. but has great instincts. He was the team leader on defense for the last 3 years, and we desperately need that. We need to b…

So I'm thinking, "What does this team need?" A defensive player who can shore up the line of scrimmage, stop the run, let our athletic LBs make plays, and generally be a nuisance to the other team. The best fit, in my opinion, is BJ Raji. He fits the bill for every criteria above. On top of that, there are other perks: 1) He's disillusioned with Green Bay. They stuck him at NT and didn't let him rush the QB at all. He turned down a big, multi-year contract already. 2) He'd obviously give the Bears insight into the bitter rival's schemes. 3) He fits the bill whether the Bears go 3-4, 4-3, or 3-3-5. In the 3-4, he's a classic NT. He might not be ha…

Last year we had a thread for all the rumblings that went on at the Senior Bowl, perhaps we can do that again this year, mods pin this if you agree. Anyway, per Biggs Iowa TE CJ Fiedorowicz said first team he met with at Senior Bowl was #Bears I'm somewhat intrigued by them even talking to a potential "impact" TE. By impact I mean a player who will contribute. Right now C.J. is slotted in the 3-4 round range, which if the Bears fix a good deal of their defensive problems in FA and then grab another couple defensive guys to start the draft I'd love to see them grab another big TE. I'd prefer they wait and take a guy like Jordan Navjar, who was unde…

This is actually a bit of old news, he signed on Jan 10th, but I hadn't heard until just now when I was watching the rugby 7s.....If this guy puts it together he's going to be an absolute pest, think Darren Sproles. Wish we had a catch all for this sort of stuff.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?id=10341389 He comes with a bit of controversy over a recruiting issue a few years back but luckily there's no recruiting that goes on in the NFL. Coached the NCAA sack leader Marcus Smith this year, was apart of the 06 Miami team that holds the all time record for least rushing yards allowed per game (67), and he coached one of my favorite non Bears, Vince Wilfork. Was hurt his senior year at Miami but was named an honorary coach. He's just 35 years old and looks like he can still man the NT position(he's a big ol boy). Said to be one of the best young upstart coaches in the college ranks. An entertaining fellow as we…

With the possibility of moving to a 3-4 I was looking at some of the 3-4 tackles from around the league and thought "These guys aren't that big"...So I question, does size really matter?? The 49ers used Glenn Dorsey, all 6'1" 297 pounds of him. He racked up 41 tackles and 2 sacks, which doesn't sound like a lot but for a NT that'snot bad at all. The Texans last year, when they were one of the best Ds in the league, ran out Shaun Cody, who is 6'4" 307. This year they used a 6'3" 300 pound Earl Mitchell there, who got 48 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Their listed backup at the position is 6'2" 293. The Cards, who had the top ranked run defense, went a little bigger,…
