The Sun Times and Tribune both had articles in today's paper talking about our secondary. Three things that were news: 1. Peanut Tillman is staying at cornerback (Not exactly breaking news, but it stops the rumors of him going to fs) 2. Danieal Manning is staying at nickel-back, not free safety (this is different then what Smith had said before) 3. Craig Steltz is penciled in as the starter at free safety with Payne at SS. First, this tells me our cornerback position is pretty damn strong. D Manning looked really good at nickel-back. We're hoping Vasher can return to form, and he'll be battling with Corey Graham who was pretty damn good last year. T…

  5. A very interesting press conference from Fields today, with a lot of points. In a nutshell, Fields said that he's being coached too much, and needs to play from his instincts more. At first this sounded like making excuses, or throwing the coaches under the bus. Don't be surprised if that's the narrative that sports writers take from this press conference, and it blows up into a media thing. But if you listen closely, especially as he clarifies what he means, he's saying that he himself is thinking too much and trying too hard to do everything the way the coaches want him to. And it's not so much that they're wrong, as that when the reality of the play happens, …

  6. Saw this quote in an article from Loggains. Makes you wonder how inaccurate Trubisky was (vs. just how bad / sloppy the wideouts were). Should be no shock that McBride is gone. I still think Mitch was inaccurate, but those are the things that are always hard to tell as a fan.

  7. So not only did everyone know what we were doing offensively...evidently they knew what we were doing defensively last year. This was out of Biggs 10 thought on Bears piece.

  11. http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/professor/...-of-nbc-is.html Bears bunker mentality nothing new; snub of NBC is .Brad Palmer on 11.19.09 | 1 comment | .The Bears have long had a bunker mentality at Halas Hall. It is born out of arrogance and insecurity, bordering on paranoia and can be traced to Michael McCaskey (the man behind the curtain) and Jerry Angelo. A decade or so ago, I was doing a live-shot for Channel 7 in the comfort of one of the Bears meeting rooms at the original Halas Hall, having been given permission by the public relations director because of a snowstorm. McCaskey happened by and said I should be outside, snowstorm or not. …

  15. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...-use-fieldturf/ NFL can, and should, force the Bears to use FieldTurf Posted by Mike Florio on August 10, 2011, 1:19 PM EDT Getty ImagesThe real vs. fake debate continues in Chicago, regarding the playing surface at Soldier Field. Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times makes a great case for switching from grass (or something that once was grass) to FieldTurf. A far more persuasive case eventually could be made by 280 Park Avenue. Lost in the talk regarding whether the Bears should or will rip up their grass (or something that once was grass) and install FieldTurf is the fact that the NFL has the absolute a…

  17. Evidently John Lynch went back to Stanford to finish his degree after his career ended and he had a class that had a class project that 2 students are assigned to work on and his classmate on the project was Thomas. So that is Kap's spin on who he thinks is going at 2.

Interesting thought... Now that the Bears are continually surprising people with lesser talent and depth, what should the Bears do in the draft? Part of me still wants to give Fangio everything. He's basically making chicken salad out of chicken shit every week. What would this guy do if the Bears got a few grade-A studs on defense? DL Sutton - Goldman - Jenkins appears to be the starting DL, and I don't think it's that terrible. They don't get a ton of pressure, but in a 3-4 that's not their primary focus. Jenkins could be gone because his contract is up. Gotta consider Ego in there as well. LBs So now the LBs. McPhee, McClellan, Jones, Acho…
