So while reading about Ray "dipshit" McDonalds departure from the team I started seeing commentary about the possibility of Jets DLman Mo Wilkerson being dangled as trade bait. So far the Jets have publicly said they intend to keep him but he's apparently in a contract year, holding out AND they just drafted Leonard Williams. Some of the concerns obviously are his demand for a big contract and that our team has other needs than just DL. But... Is Wilkerson impactful enough to make a difference to the new defense that Fangio is working to implement? First and foremost I have to say that there is something different with this coaching staff. Week to week I keep seeing improvement in the quality of play, both individual and team (i.e. being in the right position). As of right now we have the 7th ranked defense in terms of yards given up per game. That is surprising to me. The offense is way back in the low 20's but has still been productive with Cutler at the helm. Normally when you get new schemes either offense or defense there are learning curves and mistakes but there are also plays that you run that other teams aren't prepared for. The more I gain information on this draft the more I see there being a run on QBs early. I know we are 4-1. But lets be honest and objective, it hasn't been pretty. So far this year: Jay Cutler- 68/102 912 yds 6TD 3Int Kyle Orton- 118/175 1419 yds 6 TD 3Int Johnny Knox- 12 Rec 258 yds 0 TD Brandon Lloyd- 29 Rec 589 yds 3 TD Given, I would rather have a weaker quarterback and be 4-1. Both chicago and denver are equally abismal rushing. We are 31st and they are 32nd. This is just math.

Ok it's gotten past the slump buster stage. I thought he was being sarcastic the first time I heard him. But he is serious. It's time to just bench him and hope they keep losing so he can come back in a week or two and think it's not just my fault. Which it's not. His head is just not able to process all the info it's getting at this time, I hope. His mind just doesn't seem to know how to process, not just the play on the field, but also the fallout from it. At one point on the sidelines Hurst was shown trying to loosen up a hamstring. I have no idea if he's injured (two weeks before next game?) or what he did to lose his job after helping force that second punt turnover by pushing Fuller into the ball.

I think lost in all this is Matt Forte. He now has a real QB. Look I like Kyle and I wish him all the best in Denver. But Cutler's ypa is almost 8 while Orton's was almost 6. I know Cutler here won't have the weapons but Orton also won't go there and have a Matt Forte. Anyways, I think this opens it up even more for Forte. He now probably won't get as many touches through the air which should give him a rest a bit but a playaction will open it up big time for Cutler, and a draw will open it up big time for Forte. I just wanted everyone's thoughts on this.

Time on my hands looked up the drafts of our last 2 GMs which means our current and former. Found out that JA made 83 picks of which 18 are still in the league and of those 83, 10 made the Pro Bowl. Emery has made 12 picks, 9 are still in the league and with the team with 2 having made the Pro Bowl and if we consider Brandon Marshall as an acquisition then Emery edges out JA who had Urlacher already in the fold, drafted Tillman and Briggs, but acquired no one in his first two years that made the Pro Bowl.
