Its been a while since I posted here. I htought I'd throw up the latest blog entry for comment. I'm sorry to say that is looks like you'll have to go to the website for the links. If I get time I'll start posting them here on a more regular basis. Tom S. -- http://chicagobearsfanforum.com/blog/?p=240 The Bears and the NFC North * Dan Pompei of the Chicago Tribune points out that the Bears took DT Marcus Harrison one spot ahead of where the Packers were going to take him in the third round. Pompei goes on to say that with Harrison’s off field problems this could be a blessing or a curse. Here’s hoping Harrison doesn’t own a boat. * Receiver …

Profootballfocus just did a study tabulating how many "catchable" passes were dropped by each receiver and TE last season: they watched each pass themselves and classified a pass as "catchable" if the receiver could get his hands on it and you would "reasonably expect it to be caught" - so passes deflected, slips, and passes thrown where the receiver could only get a fingertip on the ball wouldn't count. It's a narrow category, but it gives you an idea, for each guy, of how many passes he dropped that he absolutely should have caught. It looks like they only discuss the best and worst guys in the league, so the Bears' wide receivers are all missing in action in the …

I know it's not going to happen because of the money involved and the fact that he wouldn't want to come to Chicago, but how awesome would it be if Ray Lewis signed with the Bears? Urlacher - Lewis - Briggs (HOLY SHIT) The other oddball idea about this is moving Urlacher back to his college position of Safety. --I don't want either to really happen, but what do you guys think? Is he another one of those players that you all don't want because he's a bad guy off the field?

Everyone has fixated on the status of Hasselbeck, and for good reason, but there are a couple other injuries that could prove just as big. Most know that Walter Jones has been out, but does everyone realize his backup (Sean Locklear) also went down w/ a high ankle sprain? Per More, he isn't going to rush Jones back as he doesn't want to kill his season. But that could mean Seattle is down not only their stud LT, but also his backup. I don't even know who would start if these two can not go. Brandon Frye is listed as the backup RT, and they only picked him up a couple weeks ago off waivers. Coming off a two sack game, Alex Brown could be in for a big day. Ta…

http://bearingthenews.com/?p=1565 Does Mike Martz Have Too Much Power? If So He’s Not Alone. The world is full of compromise. And no one apparently hates it any more than Timothy Miller of Endwell, N.Y. Tim is apparently convinced that offensive coordinator Mike Martz is ruining the Bears franchise. How else do you explain the fact that he emailed not one, but two NFL writers asking if Martz has cast a spell over the team that will lead to its ultimate demise. First, let’s see shat ESPN‘s NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert has to say (http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/27117/nfc-north-weekend-mailbag-41): “Tim of Endwell, New York, writes: Do …

This is the 10th year I've been to training camp and I enjoyed it as usual, although it was limited with no pads. 1. D.J. Moore was the first guy out and shook hands with people for 20 minutes. Good guy. 2. When practice was starting, I saw JA & Lovie having a serious discussion between the fields. Lovie then went to Tice. I figured then it was about Kreutz. 3. I saw Roy Williams and said, "holy shit." Damn he looks impressive. He's tall, lean, chiseled. While he didn't practice, he passes "the look" test. 4. Matt Spaeth is built like Greg Olsen. I don't see how he can be a great blocker. Manu was 6-0 300. Spaeth is 6-7 260. 5. There was no p…

Last night out of all the Bears running attempts only one was a toss to the outside to Bell the rest of the attempts were between the tackles. Maybe thats why we averaged 2.3 yards per run. This is what I saw at TC and that is what they did last night. I don't understand this type of thinking especially when they bring a reciever split wide in motion back towards the o-linemen essentially bringing another defender into the box. Last night the blitz pickup was horrible and it needs to improve dramatically or the QBs are going to get killed. When the Bears were passing a LB was coming off the edge on almost every play unblocked. This team features a 3-4 and there are a…

it's time to clean house starting at the top and working your way down to the parking attendants. 1. the entire coaching staff is DONE. i have had my fill after watching this unbelievable performance today. it is so inept i can hardly find words to express just how bad it is. no matter how good or bad our players are talent wise this game showed just how really incredibly bad coaches they are. it was like lifeless animation watching this team play uninspired football today. lovie... just what are you watching out there? please realize i don't need a lunatic coach like ditka by any means at all, but this poor excuse of a HC is in freakin limbo!!! after seeing th…

Justin has been working on an improved more compact throwing motion this offseason. It appears here that Getsy is pushing him to get rid of the little hop he takes before he throws.

The first order of business for the new coaching staff is to evaluate their own players and resign their free agents that they will want to keep or cut players under contract. Bates, because of injury, may not be kept. They know more about his problem and whether he is healed. If healthy he can be a competent backup or even starting center at which they brought him in for. 4 mil would be saved. Gerald Everett never had a role on this team but has a history of a contributing player. Kmet didn't get targets so obviously Gerald didn't either. We will have to see how the new coaches evaluate him. 5 mil would be saved if cut. Tyler Scott never showed up but can …

Rondale Moore and Mecole Hardman visited the Bears today. I really would love a short term deal for Moore. 24 with tons of speed - coming off injury and I think in right role could thrive as a slot / take the top off guy with some gadget and special teams thrown together. Both players are speed guys. Moore was like 4.33 coming out - injuries have been a big issue with him and he missed all of last year.

Looking at the way this team has evolved the last 5 seasons, I feel it is in a transition phase. The transition phase is both mental and physical. The mental side of the coin belongs to the defense. I see a defense that is no longer willing to impose its will on the other team. It used to be the other team would choke, kowing we were going to make the play that would beat them. Now, we are reduced to the QB in the opposing huddle saying, "we got this". Our veterens need to step up and become what they once were. If you look at the ages of our highly paid vets, they are far from through physically. The key to our staff and players is finding a way to get that…

How so many on this board seem to think they have a handle on what this new regime is going to? We have to mesh guys from 3 different organizations just to form our offensive and defnsive schemes. We have no draft history on our FIRST TIME GM and his working reklationship with our NEW HEAD COACH and his coordinators. So tell me why do you think you know what this group is going to do on personnel moves etc.

I watched the run and the replay, and I have to say I'm surprised some of you are so upset about the run. Was it out of bounds? Hard to tell for sure, and even the replay leaves a small amount of doubt (I personally thought he was in). Having said that, it should have come back anyway. Bellamy clearly held on the play. His initial block and subsequent drive were good, but his left arm definitely hooked the defender and restricted him. That should have been a foul. Furthermore, the last run by Jordan Howard definitely should have been called back for a hold. That was egregious. It's nice getting the calls, and its seems like the Bears don't get as many…
